@Stoogs only if Marty is there too. Sean Avery alone, meh. Avery and Brodeur together with Joe poking the bear would be gold. Then maybe they would bury the hatchet and both decide to bond over kicking Jamie's ass.
derkuis097 I’m not a fan of how it ended obviously lol, but yeah, that series was sick. I’ll never forget Coburn and Tom Wilson dropping the gloves right out of penalty box. It was complete war
Jon Oxman this podcast doesn’t take all day and he doesn’t call nearly as many fights as he used. And his stand up is shit. So, he’s got time. He just doesn’t like regular sports.
Well, acting a certain way towards other people because of a game is beta behaviour. That's all. Nothing wrong with ii but makes you look silly in the eyes of many people.
He played in his teens where I grew up in Canada meet him a few times and he was always a nice guy well respected and wanting to give back to the community.
@@6hughmungus9 Dude, PLENTY of knowledgeable American hockey fans (I'm one). Do I wish the NHL was more than a regional sport in the US? Absolutely. In Canada, it's essentially a religion, which is awesome. That said, being from arguably the greatest pro sports city (Boston) in the world (in terms of dynasties/outstanding moments/all-time great players), Boston is thankfully one of America's hardcore hockey cities. Assuming you're a Canuck (Canadian slang vs. the douchebag fan base in Vancouver), let me put your "knowledge" to the test? While subjective, who do you think is the NHL's greatest all-around player ever? I can offer up some names (Gordie Howe, Mario Lemieux, Bobby Hull, etc.), but at the expense of sounding biased, I'd say Bobby Orr. While he's Boston's "adopted son" from his playing days until now, Orr is STILL (and forever will be) a God in the Greater Boston area. Seriously, as great a player as he was (EASILY the best all-around, IMO), he's an even better human being. Parry Sound, Ontario should be eternally proud to have produced one of the classiest, kindest, most generous human beings ever put on this planet in Orr. (Note: you might be wondering why I excluded Wayne Gretzky's name? Gretzky is HANDS-DOWN the greatest SCORER in NHL history, but he wasn't known for his defense, couldn't fight or play physical, and while a very good skater, he didn't fly like the wind like Orr or Coffey or Bobby Hull did. Hence the greatest ALL-AROUND label, and why I had to omit "The Great One" from the list.)
@@tristanenns1270 Seems you have a serious reading comprehension problem, mook. Maybe my "Parry Sound, Ontario should be eternally proud..." comment in my previous post should clue you in.
@Pesky Echo because the body ages, so you muscle twitch fibres slow down, it's why at say 35 an elite level boxer loses to a guy he would have beaten at 25,at the top level even losing a fraction of speed can change everything, but if you exercise and eat right you can still be athletic and quick well into your 50s but you will never be as quick as you were at 30...
No offense, I’m from VA... so I’m totally justified in saying this, but Ovechkin was harrassing the kid all series. Not too sure what’s so special about knocking out a 19 year old kid who only weighs 187 lbs when you’re a 33 year old man who weighs 236 lbs.... Ovie weighs nearly 50 pounds more than the kid and is 14 years older.... seeing as how the kid isn’t even done developing, it’s not a W to have knocked him out cold.
Started watching hockey in 1970. My all time favorite player was Cam Neely, just as tough as he was a talented goal scorer. A year or two after he came to the Bruins from Vancouver management actually asked him to back on on his fighting a bit so he could become the goal scorer that he became. He was an exciting player to watch.
The bruins used to do their preseason camp out in Wilmington Mass. prior to building the warrior rink ,… I went to watch them one fall with my nephew , there was a roped off section where the coaches , general manager etc would stand and watch them practice which was only 20 or 30 feet away from the public , I was looking at their section and Neely happened to look my way so I waived to him ,.. he shot me a dirty look back like I was some kind of weirdo ,…lol ( he’s the best ! )
@@johnmellyn2700 yea you’ll see alot of retired hockey players in massachusetts… i once saw cam neally and terry oreilly get in a wrestling match over an old vcr at my friends neighborsz garage sale. This was in Haverhill ma back in 2003. I also saw terry oreily puke in the kowloon parking lot one day. Its a pretty neat place to have grown up
@Christopher Palmer seeing you get butthurt because he doesnt know who a specific hockey player is the gayest thing I ever seen. Dickriding the fuck outta that hockey player 😂
Joes gotta get Jordan tootoo on the podcast, it’s an amazing story of where he grew up in northern Canada hunting for his peoples life. “If you missed a hunt, your people wouldn’t eat.” It encompasses outdoors, hunting, providing, and challenging the wilderness all things I think Rogan endorses
Living in Boston these past 5 years has been amazing . Awesome to see so many championship parades even though I don’t like any of Boston’s teams hahaha.
I have to disagree , I’m so into it I’d rather be home watching on tv , rewinding certain plays and watching them over again , slowing down controversial calls to see if they got it right ( I can’t get enough ) … playoffs on the other hand ,.. you gotta be there to experience the crowd
I REMEMBER BEING ON EDGE IN A FEW NEIGHBORHOODS ON THE NORTH SIDE OF DUBLIN -- RELATIVELY SAFE COMPARED TO MOST INNER CITY NEIGHBORHOODS OF THE USA BUT STILL ROUGH NONETHELESS
Ryan I grew up on the Northside of Dublin. Cabra was no fucking joke, it was a tough as they come. Crumlin where Conor is from was just as bad. It all comes down to parenting at the end of the day. But my Dublin in the 80's and 90's was rough as fuck.
Canada will lock you up for talking bad about jews, they'll search through your stuff even to find evidence of jew hating acting like total nazis in the process, it's cold and sounds gay I wouldn't want to go there
Iv lived in Boston all 24 years of my life, Iv grown up just watching them win almost every year but it’s all coming to an end soon and we will suck for a long time so let us enjoy it while it lasts
My grandfather played for the st. Louis flyers in the late 40's and early 50's. I used to ask him, "gramps did you ever get in any hockey fights?" He said "no, we had big ass polish dudes and that was their job." Apparently wingers rarely fought back then, if you got checked too hard they'd just send a goon out to punish them.
Joe would definitely appreciate hockey. Ovechkin might end up with the most NHL goals in history and drops a 19 year old Russian who’s one of the next stars. Great sport, Joe should get into it before the league goes completely soft
When did that heavy favorite come into play? When marchand took a lazy line change instead of backchecking properly? Yeah, that must've been it. Everyone and their mother had Boston winning that cup.
@@drucifer83314 Yup that was one play that lost it for Boston. Another was the fact Pasternak and Bergeron were hurt. Pasternak couldn't even shoot the puck in that 2nd round , And Bergeron had a groin injury. But hey, That's hockey. Hopefully this year Bruins go all the way again. They are currently the best team in NHL.
matt miller why? He clearly doesn’t care about hockey... don’t bore everyone else with your fantasies. Go listen to spittin chicklets if you want hockey.
Those fukn refs let Boston run around playing dirty cuz for some reason the rules change in the playoffs, marchand was punching sedin in the face over and over while the ref just watched, and if sedin punched back he'd get the penalty or they'd both be taken to the box which wither way would be a win for Boston
Ross Robertson Ironic considering it was a dirty hit that charged up the Bruins team. Bruins were dead in the water. Then Rome woke us up. Thanks Rome! Btw Boston had more penalty minutes so funny you blame the refs lmao.
Nobody Important I was literally there for the Boychuck run in. We all thought he was diving. We felt awful when we saw he was hurt. As for the Bruins taking shots. Vancouver did the same thing. Burrows waking Thomas glove when he covered the puck. Hansen taking runs at Ference and neutering McQuiad in game 7 was just as classless.
@@Shatamx wasn't even a dirty hit, if Boston was up 2-0 in the series they wouldn't have thrown him out of the game, plus Boston should've had more penalties, they get away with the small stuff cuz of how dirty the other stuff is, it makes no sense that a penalty is a penalty until the playoffs start
I used to think that Boston fans were animals until I moved to the Philly area. I think Philly fans have only been walking on two legs for a couple of generations.
Hockey is three skills all in one. You have to be able to handle the puck. You also have to be able to skate. If you're missing either skill you arent going to play. The third skill is not just the ability to fight, but the ability to know when to fight.
It's a lie conor mcgregor didnt come from a rough area, just before his pre teens he moved to a very upper middle class area of dublin. One of the better areas of dublin. His parents were hard working and provided very well for his family
Anyone without any more than a basic understanding of ice hockey (me; it's ice football/soccer for you Americans) should watch the documentary ice guardians , it gives such a comprehensive understanding of why, when, how and who fights in hockey, it's fantastic
You're right not a star. But was on a superbowl team. And who else can say there brother played in the NFL. Hes still coming from an amazing gene pool 😂
I'm from Boston and I can agree whole heartedly. My aunt got me a Yankees hat in 8th grade and I loved it (I was never a baseball fan btw). Freshman year in High School I got beat up in a stairwell for wearing the hat. I learned pretty fast that you don't wear NY apparel in Boston....period. I ended up using that same hat only during rugby practice from sophomore year onward.
i remember growing up watching the NHL allstar comp when i was young it was early in charas career and during the slapshot contest he hit like 108 or 110 or something and i was just in awe of just how much power the dude had
Having played hockey I remember being on the bench between shifts. Similar to OVI I took a puck to the cheek bone an inch from losing an eye. Put my visor down and went out for the next shift, if anyone says hockey players aren't tough you've never played.
This was painful to watch. Neither of these guys know anything about hockey. Maybe joe should try getting two guys from the number one hockey podcast on his show.
@Dharmabum9287 haha... so true. I'm a Boston kid but I've seen what Massholes and deluded liberals have done to your great state. It's a fucking disgrace. Massachusetts Democrats are the worst.
Bruins didn't lose game 1, Blues fans booed Bruins players being announced also and the Buckner ball didn't take a bad hop. Other than that the you had everything right Fitzy!!
People keep saying the game has changed.... I say it has! But, only during the regular season. Once the playoffs come around, it's back to old style hockey!! Refs put the whistles in their pockets and it's back to basics! I enjoy the basics as much as any biped who watches hockey, but what good is it that a team like Tampa Bay wins the President's trophy only to crumble in the first round against a team who only qualified in the last 3 weeks of the season ? Bring back the old format if you're gonna play it both ways! President's trophy winner gets to play team 16 in the ranks, 2nd takes 15th and so on. You'd have a better chance of seeing truer rivalries in the finals. And it would mean you could meet a team from the other conferences in the 1st round or your division rivalry in the final.... CANDY!!!!
Lmao. I'm a 49ers fans. No eagles fans were hostile compared to Boston fans. They win so much they feel bad for you. Eagles fans are the worst as you guys throw shit at Vikings bus at the playoffs, boo your own team, and are hostile to visiting teams. Fuck philly fans
I had the pleasure of meeting Wendell Clarke at leafs game as a kid. He ignored every adult n teenager n came right to me first cuz I was the only little kid there. He’s a class act. N I have an autographed Tie Domi jersey from the Maple Leafs Garden days. I also sent him a letter when he was suspended for elbowing that guy n he responded to me with a letter of his own n an autographed picture. He’s also a class act
