But it seems Botan didn't mind - somehow Cover Corp has managed to find some of the greatest human beings on this planet and turn them into vTubers...

Anyone who was there remembers Kiara being a mess and a nervous wreck. She was super hesitant to bother Botan, but I'm glad she did it and Botan did exactly what we told her Botan would do: She helped. And she's happy to help. They may not be super close, but I like to think that the hololive members are kinda friends with each other. And there's no such thing as a bother when it comes to friends.

"Protect the GPU with your life" Now I want a spin-off movie where Kiara loses the GPU in the airport and has to find it like one of those Christmas movies. Like she finds out there was a mix-up with the bags, so she tracks down the guy who got her bag, but finds out he gave the bag back to someone else, so she tracks this person, which turns out to have given away the unneeded GPU. Basically, it keeps going until she finally comes to the person that has the GPU, which is her own family member.

The bond between them is just strong, even with the EN and ID.

by disassembling the cpu in long delivery, you prevent the connectors gets some stress by the shock on road. bubble wrap them, then place in the wooden box if you wanna extra safe, though normal cardboard is fine. . i heard ever since corona started, crypto mining started more popular and GPU has more demands

It's so weird to think how time zones work out for HoloEN. Whether from Japan or Austria Kiara is 9 times zones away from the US-West coast which can really make scheduling with anyone from there difficult. I guess she is at least closer to the East coast from Austria if anyone of them happened to live there.

You generally don't have to disassemble a PC for shipping. The major issue that could occur while shipping is the graphics card putting stress on its socket, but putting foam underneath, adding an anti-sag bracket, or shipping the PC flat would all work fine to mitigate that issue.

I really hope Botan remembers to put the components into antistatic bag before packing it with the towels.

That GPU tips is so true. Botan definitely has her gamer tech knowledge. Would definitely hold the GPU and protect it right now since the price of those GPU are crazy expensive and harder to get at MSRP(depending on the country pricing and availability) .

Honestly I can relate to Kiara--not on the international moving sense, but I run into more tech problems than I care to count, and I've been incredibly fortunate to have met a person online who knows so much more about that stuff than I ever will. I know how valuable having a friend like that can be. So cheers to Botan for being such a huge security blanket of knowledge, and of course cheers to Kiara on finding peace in her new environment!

this is the first Hololive related video that actually made me worried and anxious of my GPU which i had since late summer 2015 and had recently upgraded my CPU this January wish me luck boys! and god damn i still doubting on that RTX 3060 stock later 2021-2022 or at least AMD.

Even if there wasn't a GPU shortage, protecting a GPU with your life is pretty much the main thing of a computer, because in some setups, the GPU accounts for over half the price of the entire thing, so if you had to pick the one thing to have protected at all costs, maybe the thing that costs an arm and a leg would help.

I've read that in North America, if you don't mark your stuff as "FRAGILE", then it's your fault for not warning those responsible for moving your stuff and so you have to replace it yourself. But also, if you do mark it "FRAGILE", then you're acknowledging that item is easy to break, and thus cannot hold the movers accountable.

I was wondering if Botan would go the disassemble route, or the stabilize & pack internals in one piece route. Shipping it all in once piece is also fine with good internal stabilization (need appropriate materials on hand), and probably more desirable if the person (Kiara) has basically never touched computer internals before. Large CPU cooler, GPU, and other large devices (maybe Kiara has PCIe capture card) are definitely the right things to take apart for disassemble route, but I think removing RAM is usually unnecessary. Hoping nothing crazy happens in shipping and Kiara gets it all in one piece back home!

Yeah.. Some GPUs are impossible to find even if you have the money. They usually go out of stock in 2 minutes because there is no captcha protection.

Taking out the RAM is probably overkill, it's really all about removing anything that will cause any torque. So your graphics card because it weights a lot and if it gets moving it can rip out your PCIe slot. Your CPU cooler, especially if you have an air cooler, where you have a lot of mass held away from the motherboard, that, if it gets moving, will rip itself free and break your board, and possibly damage the CPU. SSDs are probably fine, but they weight nothing, are easy to remove, and can just be thrown into your bags to travel with. HDDs should be carried with you as the platters do not deal with shock well at all. Fans, motherboard, CPU, RAM, power supply, cabling, etc... are all fine to be shipped in the case, though make sure your side panels are well secured (through some masking or painter's tape around the case to hold them on, it will come off without damaging the finish and will also act as a way to tell if someone has been looking inside). Botan did everything right though. I'm not surprised though, she's shown herself to be very knowledgeable about computers, both hardware and software, before. She's right about the GPU too, I was very lucky to get a Strix OC 3080 back in December and I could never imaging letting someone else touch it, let alone ship it. If I needed to travel it would be cradled in my arms like a newborn the entire flight.

Spent a month trying to get a graphics card for a decent price because mine died. Ended up having to get a laptop...

I'm impressed on how Botan has her finger on the pulse of the PC components market. The price of GPUs is not only about crypto, sure, those miners play a part on that, but the whole semiconductor supply chain is a mess right now. It's so bad that entire industries such as car manufacturers are having to grind to a halt because they can't find enough chips. So hanging on to your GPUs is a wise move right now.
