her rig is insane

Her Rig is indeed very beefy but it's also "Streamer+Gamer+Content-Creator" beefy. For a comfortable gaming experience, having a 5k$ tower is not necessary. If you were to look at the needed specs for CP2077, sure the special 4k stuff might need a 3090 but the lower settings are achievable with cheaper setups. Oh and the new AMD cards are comparable to the 3000 series but are just as pricey.

I just realized that I haven't played any games with max settings in my whole life with my laptop.

If she bought 5900x and 3080, she actually would end up paying less than what she paid for her new PC (the CPU is more expensive, but the mainboard could end up cheaper). Of course that is only if she can buy those mythical thing at normal price. If it is just for gaming, you probably wouldn't lose sleep buying 10900k instead of 5900x, but buying 2080ti just before 3080 is out is just... painful. If I can cancel the 2080ti purchase, I would cancel it and wait for 3080 instead, even if it means having to use my old GPU for the rest of this year.

Her specs are good enough for at least 5 uears imo. Its really not worth upgrading from 2080ti to 3k series. Unless she needs that high res display for gaming.

A 6800XT/6900XT would probably be the better choice for people targeting low resolution/high FPS. Not that they exist, of course.

tbh if you already had 2080ti and played games like csgo, valorant, lol.......v...v.. esports title at 1080p and super high frame rate. then you dont need to upgrade to 3080, 2080ti are more then enough to play these games for at least more 5 years. But if you into triple A title and wanna played it at 2k, 4k with 60fps+ then 3080 is a great deal. Or do like i do, sell your current GPU (mine was 2070s) to buy 3080 :D

I can't think of any useful application to have 64GB ram beside for workstations or data centers. Also just looking at the specs, 1200W PSU is kinda overkilled here. Don't mind me, just a self-claimed elitist here.
