Inktense pencils are so easy and versatile to use - if you struggle with watercolour you may want to try them because they won't lift off in the way that watercolour does. I have listed all the materials used below, use what you have, and you can even join in with your favourite watercolour paints:
Brushes from my set from Craftamo (click here to be notified when we relaunch) www.craftamo.c...
Derwent Inktense Pencils:
Sun Yellow bit.ly/sunyell...
Golden Yellow bit.ly/3x2nKe4...
Cadmium Orange bit.ly/cadoran... Orange
Red Oxide
Shiraz bit.ly/shirazp...
Ionian Green bit.ly/inktens...
Spring Green bit.ly/inktens...
Paper: Etchr (A5 sketchbook) 100 cotton cold press bit.ly/3J07gFS...
A big shout out and thank you to Joan for letting us use your reference photo for today's tutorial.

I love my inktense pencils and pans. They make lovely botanicals. The caran d’Ache palette works great. At times I also wet the pencil tip with my brush to pick up color. The pansy is lovely! ❤

Helen, helpful tutorial as always. I appreciate your usage of the Derwent Intense pencils in your paintings. I have found it helpful when the reference photograph is posted on the side. I can then see the reason for the colours and the placement of the paint. Thanks !!!

I have Derwent watercolor pencils but not inktense. I don't have the darker colors. I have to invest! As always Rae your painting is absolutely gorgeous!

Thank you very much - the watercolour pencils will work too but they may not be as vibrant so you may have to compensate by using more pigment x

Concering the mixing board you mentioned, I found a cheap plastic cutting board with a pebble like surface. It works very well as a swatching/mixing surface. And it only cost 88 Cents USD from Walmart. Aldi might have something similar.

I have been looking for this. Do you have any other info like a brand or name of this? I couldn’t find it at my Walmart but am going to a different location today.

@@helencampbell, I was surprised how the plastic cleans up so well. I figured it would stain, but with a toothbrush and a little scrub, I haven't had any staining yet.

Lovely video as always! I love watching your brushes dance on the paper. I don’t usually use such small brushes. The smallest I have is a rigger so watching botanicals is a fresh change for me.

I know I keep saying it, but you are one of the best at botanical work. You have also convinced me to have more of a go with my Inktense pencils that I had for year. Not the same colours as you have, only two match up, but I'll manage.

What a wonderful painting. My husband is home now and in a hospital bed in our living room, so there’s not a lot of room. But I might be able to find a corner to paint in as I love pansies and would love to paint this project. Thank you for another amazing and colourful video. - Dawn 🌅
