Always SO relaxing to sit & watch you 'at work' Shoyan. I find it mesmerising to watch your sublime skills as you work your magic, they are 'second to none'. I don't think there could be a better carpenter in the world, seriously, you are the best. Cheers, Don from South Australia.

Shoyan is an example of why Japanese carpentry is the very finest in the world. The attention to detail and the spiritual respect into every detail makes Japanese carpentry undeniably great. If money were no object I would have a modern day Japanese style home built. I find them the most beautiful in the world.

02:48 you want strange when it comes to boats and buildings? My family home was built 400 years ago. It was an old farm barn that was converted into two houses. The wood that makes up the roof and the beams is all reclaimed timber- formerly the wood was used in Tudor Navy ships from the time of Henry VIII, broken up at Bristol docks and the wood reclaimed for use elsewhere! 😂

Beautiful work. If the bolts in the ridge beam loosened after a few months and needed to be re-tightened, won't that happen again? Using a thread locking product would seem to be a solution or a lock washer rather than a flat washer. We're faced with the same issues with bolts and nuts used for seismic hold down and wind shear.
@det-ou9vz
@det-ou9vz 6 месяцев назад
The bolts aren’t technically loosening. The wood is shrinking. Thread locker won’t help. That’s why tall stick framed buildings in the US use continuous rod tiedown system with automatic shrinkage compensating couplers.

Fact: The average new home has approximately 300 gallons of water trapped in the new construction materials and will evaporate quickly. More so on homes with gypsum board construction.

The circular saw? He has a Hitachi. A year or two ago Hitachi rebranded, or sold off or did something that resulted in Metabo tools (Lowes has them) in the US, and Hikoki in Japan and Australia and other places.
