Nice truck Mike, I was a ford guy for years mostly diesel. I had trouble with every one of them. I bought a new 2018 Chevy 3500 duramax and love it. I pull a 30’ enclosed trailer with my race car inside along with tools,spare parts. Etc. pulls great. I’ve got about 58000 miles on it so far. The thing will pull a house. My buddy has got a 2020 ford with the 6.7 diesel it has 42000 miles on it. The fuel pump went out two weeks ago on a trip pulling a trailer, left him stranded.
@BC08
@BC08 Год назад
Duramax ran the same fuel pump from 2011-2016. It’s a shame Ford stuck with the CP4 for some unknown reason. The 2020-up 6.7 Powerstroke is hands down the best medium-duty V8 architecture (speaking of the actual long-block) but they really need to ditch the CP4.

I think you'll enjoy pulling a load with the new truck, its a whole different feeling when that turbo spools up and you can feel it pulling instead of shifting like gas engines do. Its sooooo much nicer in my opinion I drive semi for a living and the difference between the trucks today and when I started 40 years ago is really nice. We have auto shift transmissions now wasn't sure I was going to like them because I really enjoy shifting but after driving them in big cities with stop and go rush hour traffic what a pleasure. My son has a duramax and loves it , hope you enjoy yours can't wait to hear your first impression after hauling a heavy load. Good luck

Mike, that's a very nice GMC AT4, you struck gold sir! I like that trim level, that's my favorite as it is sporty, but no chrome, which is great! I think this will serve your family and business well for years to come! Enjoy! Thanks, Brian. Also, use that Exhaust braking for towing and you'll enjoy that going down grades with a trailer and machinery on the back end, will save your brakes and save you money!

Congrats on the new truck. As to trailers, I found the Goose-Neck trailers to be significantly superior to bumper-pull. No comparison.
@woodsman123
@woodsman123 Год назад
100% agree. You probably know this, but for others who may want to know why, I often articulate the reasons as follows: First, the distance between the rear axle and the ball for a bumper pull is several feet. If you visualize going down the road and slightly turn right, the bumper pull will slightly move left. If you have a gooseneck where the hitch point is on top of the axle, this effect does not occur. I haul horses, and this slight reverse tug is amplified by the shifting weight of livestock and can feel like an unnerving wiggle going down the road at high speed. A family member of mine had this issue and it resulted in amplifying into eventually losing control and a severe accident. Second, as Mike points out, the weight ratings are much much higher for gooseneck. Imagine putting on a 50 lb backpack vs. holding the backpack at arms length. I can carry the weight on my back much easier. Likewise, a gooseneck that has the tongue weight right over the axle is rated higher. I am not a mechanical engineer, but this is how I see it and why I have justified gooseneck for livestock hauling for years. I hope this helps somebody. ;) Congrats on the new truck Mike! My 2013 Duramax dually was the best hauling truck I ever owned!

I’ve always enjoyed a Ford. We ordered a Super Duty took a year to arrive. Came in just prior to the 2023 models. They did a lot of updates to the Super Duty for 2023. I also took some features off that I wanted to speed the process up to no avail. When it came in a asked for an additional discount. I was getting a discount already. They asked why, I told em why and they said no. I said no to the sale. 6 months later I was on a Ford lot and there was a 2023 model almost identical to the 2022 I order for less than what I would have paid for the 2022. Glad I said no. Ford needs to sort some things out!

In 1995 I bought my last new F-150 4X4. In 30 days both differentials, cross-members, drive shafts, basically the entire underneath of the truck was solid rust. The 1st year it had 7 sets of brakes and rotors replaced, the radius arms wouldn't stay torqued so after rotation it ate 4 tires. Then it ate the 4 new tires they put on it. Pinion bearings and a clutch too. Pay all that money and they wouldn't even paint the underneath of a 4WD they know is duty-bound. They can keep em.

I have a 2019 Serra AT4 6.2L 450hp 4WD with every bell and whistle you can order a truck now with 80,000 miles on it. In Early march, it blew a oil cooler line while driving. In seconds, it had pumped all the oil out by time I got it stopped. Luckily I had purchased an extended warranty. It was taken to the GMC dealership where I was told the oil cooler line had been on back order for 11 weeks. I called my brother-in-law in Canada and had no problem getting one sent to me two weeks later. After taking the new line to the dealership, I was then told the engine was locked up. After another five weeks, I finally got my truck back with a new engine, new radiator, new starter, new oil cooler and a new GM warranty on everything. I wouldn’t trade this truck away for anything else on the market. These AT4 Trucks are built on steroids. Good luck with your new truck Mike.

I’m not brand loyal and have owned both Ford and Chevy trucks. I haven’t had serious issues with any of them but the last Z71 had a lot of little things go wrong. The most frustrating was the Flex Fuel sensor that calculates the AF ratio based on ethanol content. It constantly messed up and the truck wouldn’t run right until the dealer recalibrated the sensor. Have a FX4 Superduty now and it is very nice. Couple recall issues but at 53k nothing serious at all. Good luck and if you plow snow like I do, the solid front axle on the Ford is a better setup.

Similarly, my last truck purchase (and it will be literally my last, as I'm 74 years old) was a gasser SuperDuty in 2015 to haul my Kubota when necessary. I use it only when I truly need a truck. If you Ever have second thoughts about the warranty most of them are required by law to be bought back at a prorated amount. I own a shop in Utah. I have never seen one that wasn't a rip off when it came time to make a claim. My advice is to self insure with the premium you paid for the warranty. I'd urge you to read the fine print about what is excluded. I also bought a 2023 GMC Denali 3500 HD because of the same runaround by Ford on a 2023 F450 (job one)I placed an order for in early Novemberish 2022. Still no word on that. You ordered that awesome Bronco when it was in super high demand (all new model). Was most popular vehicle in country '21 & '22. Consequently, you ordered a new '23 Superduty when they are coming out w/ an all new model! Hence huge orders once again. It's not a Ford thing sir ..but more a timing thing. Congratulations Mike on the new bigger truck. The old grocery getter has proven to be a very capable machine and I'm sure it is because of how well you take care of all your equipment. I have a feeling you'll find ways to make the new Duramax Truck pay for itself pretty quickly. Try putting AMSOIL in it as 100 percent synthetic oil holds up better under extreme conditions. They are famous for their products and have oil for just about every kind of equipment. It seems Melissa really likes the F150 and perhaps more than the Bronco. The grocery getter has been your vehicle of choice for long trips so it must be very comfortable and relatively economical to drive. Installing a cover over the bed and should produce better fuel economy when you don't need to haul a lot of stuff.

Congratulations on the new truck!!! I would use a fuel additive like Hotshot Secret Edt to help the injection pump last and help reduce regeneration. I would install a oil bypass filter kit to help keep the oil cleaner. A good kit would remove 90% soot particles down to 2 or 3 micron size. That will help the engine last alot longer. Myself I'm a fan of the Ford Super Duty because of the solid front end. On independent front suspension you have to compromise on the front end alignment of having the truck empty or having tongue weight. Having airbags in the rear will help with that issue.

Great looking truck - Congrats! It's always nice to get a new vehicle! One thing that Chevy, GMC and Ram has that Fords, trucks or otherwise, don't have is the emergency feature on their automatic transmissions! Try this on your GMC: With the transmission in D, use an open palm, you can push forward and upward to move the shift lever from D into N ! This will not cause the transmission to go into R - there is a lock out detent. This is used in an emergency to disconnect the engine from the drive train. This is not pulling up on the shift lever as you would do in normal shifting sequence! Try it and be amazed!!! This works on vehicles with a console shifter also and you don't have to push the lock out button on the shifter - just use an open palm and push forward on the shifter. Can't do that on Fords!!! No dealers know about this as it is designed in. This is also true on many other vehicles such as Honda, Toyota, Lexus, Audi, Porsche, BMW, Mercedes !!! Why Ford has designed out this feature is absolutely crazy!!!
