If you suspect it was deleted and put back, the tell tale would be check the exhaust if it's been wrenched on. The tunes now, you don't need to remove the EGR setup anymore. It just gets unplugged, the tune takes care of the rest.
Great of you to help him with checking that truck out. Good info. Your little boy sure is growing. Did you happen to find any info on the Club Cab 1st Gen?
Absolutely love the aisin on my 18, 3500 tradesman got 300k hotshotting across the nation, the transmission has to be hot before towing or else it'll act like shit. & Honestly never had any problems with my Cummins only two of them one was the high fuel pressure sensor & the turbo actuator that I replaced with the Geno's garage ome that didn't have to be tuned by the dealer direct bolt on & Xtra hp
Great video 👍🏽👍🏽When I was buying my 2016 Ram I test drove it and inspected like you guys did and it had a front main leak, trans leak and a death wobble. I told the dealership if they fixed it I would buy it and that’s what they did fixed it. It had 56k miles and I paid 36k for it.
I have a 2020 Tradesman 3500 Dually same exact color - and it’s a lemon as well. I think these trucks got the chyna flu!! After getting the harmonic balancer repaired - I think I have it sorted out now so I’ll probably keep it.
Good ole sunrise motors in yuba city. That’s where I picked up one of my Cummins a few years back. They always seam to have pretty good prices on there trucks. Good lookin unit for the price but at the end of the day like you said it’s a work truck. Not a bad unit.
The oil pressure number isn't real... Thats why its exaclty the same as your new truck. The oil pressure sensor is just an on off switch.. Its just an algorithmic guess based off of coolant temperature and rpm... There is no oil temp sensor either... algorithm again.
Original owner was probably hauling campers with it for a few years and then offloaded it when the RV industry took a dump 4-5 months ago and all the work dried up. Likely still had a payment on it he wanted out from under.
Love you videos and long-time watcher, awesome truck! Kinda off topic but I didn't know if you'd be willing to help me with an issue I'm having with my 2022 takeuchi tl12v2, my dealer doesn't seem to have an answer for me and I don't know anyone that has a Tak.
Same truck my brother bought HO motor Aisin tranny 2018 3500 dually and his Tranny went out about 150k and has a swr 2500 dodge 2018 through a barring motor replacement on that rig 2 of his 2018 dodge had major problems idk if it’s 18 models but man that’s some bs I love dodge to but that made me go with ford 6.7 instead
Have a 2017 Tradesman 3500. 104,000. Problems so far. Complete rear end rebuild, high pressure fuel pump, and front crank seal twice all under warranty.
The older 4th gens are notorious for gear housing leaks. Rockers and cam have to come out. Also those have a paper oil pan gasket. Cummins has an updated metal style gasket that works tons better.
@@FirstGendodgegarage unless you’re a champ and pull the gear not the whole cam. And I’d hardly call an 18 an older 4th gen and the oil pan gasket appears to be smothered and covered in rtv
Quite honestly I don’t even know why I said older 4th gens I think I was half asleep. But you do it the way you want to do it. I was just trying to give some friendly advice 👍
What was the name brand of the seat covers you put on your new 5500? I remember seeing them installed on a video but I can't find it. We just got a one and want to put some nice covers on it.
Got a 14 Laramie recently with 146k on it for $33k. Anyhow, the truck is lifted on 35’s. My biggest complaint is sloppy/loose steering and pretty bad bump steer. I replaced the steering box because when I bought it someone definitely overtightened the set screw on the steering box and it was all over the road and clunking when I turned the wheel had to replace it because the set screw did not want to budge. Now I don’t get the clunking and it doesn’t wander everywhere like it used to with the new box. I also put a power steering box brace on it, and put an adjustable track bar on it, yet still fairly sloppy steering and a decent amount of play in the wheel. I know it’s just kinda going to happen with a lifted truck no matter what, they have weird steering issues but I want to at least try to make it better. What do you think I could do to help reduce the sloppy steering and bad bump steer?
You mentioned 16-18, do you see anything wrong with 14s and 15s? I’m currently shopping for a 4th gen same configuration, ccdrw 8’ bed 4x4, with actually the same kinda miles and price range-ish.. I was thinkin 45-46k, kinda hopin I can find a decent Larime.
Bought a 19 with a Aisin to replace my 14 with a 68 rfe. The new transmission seems to be a bit “grumpier” than the older one with hard shifts at times. Only have 35k miles on the truck. I took it to Auburn dodge and they said there wasn’t anything wrong with it but I’m not sure what to think at this point
The Aisin shits you into gear because it thinks your permanently towing 20,000 + lb. Almost swapped to Aisin but ended up doing a Revmax with all billet parts and mine still kicks like a horse sometimes between 2-4th gears. Pretty sure the stock 68fre comes with a weak valve body and clutch that doesn’t lock so it feels smoother but is actually just operating slower.
Aisin Trans shifts harder then 68rfe. It was kinda weird at first when i got my 19 especially when it downshift from 2nd n back down to 1st when your pulling heavy trailer of road . Or it likes to shift from 1st to 2nd sooner then i like .but found It's built that way. Ive notice 4th gen and older ram with aisin shifts smoother . A buddy of mine has dmax with Allison he says it shifts harder then hes old 2005 chevy 2500 gas with 4l80e . Same concept
@@IManOPERATOR agreed. And funny thing when a good deal shows up folks say naw. To much. Fml we are over here like pick me we’ll take it! Haha keep it up kings
It would have sold here for $33 in a minute in W-NY. I balked on a '18 3500 Tradesman single axle HD w/Aisin w/150k miles for $30k, it had been just driven and not worked. (parts runner). I've regretted it since 8( --gary
Shoot, would have sold him my 4th gen lonestar. Even tell him the problems with 129k on the clock. Which those problems are, oil pan gasket blew front passenger corner and abs control module failure.
Sam, what exactly were you looking for when "checking the rear end" when you guys put it in reverse? I've heard that these trucks tend to suffer from noisey rear ends (not sure if it's incorrect preload or what). Any insight/s would greatly be appreciated.
@@VBELTandSON dumb question what does the clunk mean... my 14 2500 has that clunk and has for the last 40k miles, since I bought it. Still acts fine besides that and all different fluids looked great when I changed it.
@@redneckryan615 It's the gears in the rear end being worn usually. You could also have a worn or loose bolt somewhere allowing just enough slop to clunk. My dad's 2010 F150 has the same clunk, hasn't been an issue and it's been like that for years. I personally wouldn't really worry about it.
@VBELTandSON okay okay. Til next time then...okay so I haul firewood in Oregon and I love your 5500...seems like hands down the end all truck for daily trips of 15k+ up to 3x a day....eh? Love the content man
Have you seen prices starting to come down on used trucks??? I’ve been in the marmet for 7.3 excursion for about the past year and haven’t pulled trigger because prices have been ridiculous…. I e noticed that inventory is up and prices are coming down
I rebuild wrecks and trucks became unbuyable last couple years minus the rare time i got lucky and got one that slipped past the people with more money then brains. I watched a 07 ram 3500 stick 6.7 cummins truck bring 8k last week with a completely ruined bent frame and needed the entire front clip put on it.
I’m curious about the truck that was bought by the dealer, lemon law kicked in after what type of issues? I say that because the fifth generations of Rams are notorious for breaking down. I just spent almost 10 grand last three weeks on my 2021 Ram 3500.
@@VBELTandSON I grew up in nor cal as well, butte county, been In Idaho for many years though. When I've watched your videos before the oaks made it look like Arkansas or something...now I recognize them roads haha
If I was going to spend that much money for a truck, with California planning on getting rid of all diesel engines I'd buy gas if I was going to keep it past California's Target time for diesel vehicle removal! Diesel trucks will be a dime a dozen in California in the future
That’s not for like 13 years playa Gas truck isn’t going to do the job that the diesel will. Like stabbing yourself in the foot in a panic before anything has actually happened. Lol settle down
@@VBELTandSON I personally own a diesel truck and unfortunately it is in Oregon. All of us diesel owners are going to cry like babies when they take our diesel pickups away. ask those in the log truck and dump truck industry that they've taken off the road, it's going to be it's the same thing with diesel pickups but you're right it won't be overnight
Im still trying to figure out how they plan on charging all those electric Vehicals. This countries' electric grid is already at max capacity and it will require a 100 year upgrade to get it ready for even 25% of the Vehicals going electric. I think they backed the wrong technology with electric cars.....they should have went hydrogen cells. Hydrogen is clean burning & can be created and stored where as you cant store electricity in any appreciable amounts. And it can be created using water & solar energy.
Still hard for me to understand why anyone would buy a used diesel that they are questioning. If you don’t know from the get go (ie you’re buying from a grandpa) then don’t buy it.
Do you have a basic understanding of how the world works? Why can’t we just buy a work truck for work? Nothing to over think. Couple dents and leaks so what. Not a huge line of mint grandpa trucks waiting to be picked up for cheap. Come on amigo
