Boulder 866 Vs Vitus RI 101 MK2 - Part 1 [Jardin d'hiver - Stacey Kent] 

Boulder to my ears. Sounds like my Soulution 511/520 but in a different form factor. Clear and truthful presentation.

I A/B'd several sections/phrases of music and felt that the "Vitus Sound" vs the "Boulder Sound" drew me inside the music where as Boulder presented the music. Both are exceptional integrated amplifiers and on any given day depending on what they are paired with, style of music, source, speakers and room acoustics, it is a dead heat. Thank you for this excellent comparison of two of the highest quality integrated amps currently on the market.

I like Boulder’s presentation

With my listening I ear more tension with the Boulder, better macro, better nuances and inflection and delicacy with the Vitus. The Vitus is more seducing, it has more of a certain flow that it is difficult to explain. I slightly prefer the Vitus

Thank you for posting a piano & voice piese. With voices you cannot say which amp is truthful, unless you have listened to the singer alive. Whereas with pianos you can easily tell which amplifier is truthful. The Vitus piano is not real, it is technicolor; pianos do not sound like this, siropy, rounded, sweet. The Boulder piano sounds more real. I do not know why high end companies insist on beautifing the sound of music. In a good recording the sound of instruments is already right, it does not need makeup.

Boulder! Both were good but the Boulder seemed better at everything.

Vitus seem to have more bass, air around each note with super relax presentation. Vitus seem to have more soul indeed. Boulder is more flat, truthful and sounds quicker. Bolder is more studio feel. Both are excellent. It's dependent on sources, cables and speakers that you choose. I would go with Vitus, because I want something a bit more relax with my vivid kaya 90.

Reference gears, right music and I don't know, in a first audition, Virtus. But, in a second audition more focused,I'd choose Boulder

Boulder for me. Right away it seems to be more resolving and transparent with better dynamics. The Vitus sounded much more reserved almost to the point of being a bit closed-in even.

Do I see a pair of Troels Gravesen speakers off to the sides? I would love to hear those.

Both are same level very tough choice I choose the Vitus for my taste

I wouldn't get too carried away with power amplifier choices for these entry level Magico speakers. Whatever you use they should sound OK with those speakers. You need to level up in the Magico line before you need to treat your amplifier choices with more diligence.

I choose the Vitus. Not as forward and overall relaxing.

I was shocked I’m a huge boulder fan but the Vitus was better In soundstage and bass. However it’s double the price so it should. Those are great speakers they sound way above their price.

Vitus sounds more natural and more balanced to me. Boulder just sounds cold and not engaging. I personally don’t like any American brand amps

If you had zero interest in in streaming what phono stage would recommend that shared the same character as the Vitus; does vitus make a phono stage?

I like Bolder's voice better (at this song).

What is the point listening on RU-vid?????? Boulder has wider sound stage? Vitus has better image??

Boulder has more weight Vitus seems lighter

Boulder sounds a little more open and detailed; Vitus sounds more coherent and even-handed top to bottom.

Vitus RI-101 is better than Boulder 866 in vocal range and Boulder 866 is better than Vitus in bass(more upbeat and accurate in timing). Both are equally good.

Vitus is coloured boulder always tells the truth

Vitus have some coloration in the midrange, but sounds musically superior to Boulder. Vitus have a natural soundstage and very neutral and expansive treble. Boulder is flat in comparison. Piano sound much more natural and live with Vitus.

the monitor audio platinum 200 ll are way more three-dimensional airy and spacious and they're also not as edgy and the platinum look about a million times better as well too, ugly metal boxes.

Vitus , in short more musical . Specifically vocals were more fleshed out and everything seems to be more spaced out . At least for this song the emotion is better rendered by Vitus .

Boulder are massively overpriced. Jeff Rowland is better imo
