Jeff mentioned being influenced by Dean Jensen. I, too, was fortunate to know Dean and to admire his insight into audio. Dean was self-taught; he did not have a degree in Electrical Engineering. Yet he completely understood the duality between the time and frequency domains. He did most of his audio design work in the time domain; the opposite of the approach taken by most audio engineers who thought in the frequency domain. This insight led to the development of superior audio transformers, which were essentially transmission-line transformers like those used by RF engineers but at much lower frequencies. How sad that his personal life was so troubled and that it ended so young.
