I am a visual learner. Even though my Patho class covered pretty much the same thing, I needed to see the drawings before tomorrow’s exam. Life saver! 😌

This is the best explanation of bowel obstruction .. u are a great teacher even tho am not in medical field but u so got my attention.. and i became interested on this major because of ur video❤️ clear, simple, easy to follow, short, indexed at the same time..❤️
Outstanding explanation. Thank you so much. I had a Hartmanns procedure 10 months ago in the UK. Hoping for a reversal soon. I have adhesions and your explanation was so very helpful in visualising my issue and the likely outcome. My problems started with diverticulitis. I’d never even heard of it when I went to A&E. Next day they operated and removed part of my colon and left me with the stoma. I can’t stress enough how important it is to not ignore the symptoms and get it checked out. I would have died from the peritonitis if I’d left it any longer. I feel so lucky to be alive.
Very nicely and clearly done. You let a few medical terms slip without definition, such as "necrosis" (which means death of a tissue, anyone who is confused), and "sepsis" which means infection of the bloodstream often caused by "peritonitis" which is infection of the "sac" surrounding the gut, but by and large QUITE understandable by anyone who makes an effort and some understanding of plumbing. Your explanatory and artistic skills are very impressive.
I have watched many of your videos and think they are very good. This video really clicked for me in the way you gave a big picture of types of obstruction, and psuedoobstruction and was a GREAT video. Thank you very much for all the hard work you put into these.
I have general surgery exam tomorrow (just 12 hours later) and I have been watching your videos about general surgery for 1.5 hours. This is not normal in my exam times in general. However, your videos really make on my mind an overview like you say and I learn/remember the pathopysiology of diseases, this makes the informations be permanent. Like you say on your website “We have two hands. One of our hands for ourselves, one of our hands for others”. Thank you for share one of your hand with us. Loves and respects form Turkey. With best wishes :) (Also, this is my first comment on RU-vid-27.12.2020)
@@RagingUtai It was really good, Alhamdulillah. Of course I had studied with my own teachers notes and videos (because of COVID-19) also other surgery videos on RU-vid before I have watched Armando's videos. But these videos really make my informations well coordinated. I like that. 👌🏾
@@jdenino6022 As soon as I came around from surgery,I instantly felt better .Stayed a week in Hospital, while things healed and that everything was functioning as it should. It took a while for my strength to return ,because I just did not feel like eating .But now other than what looks like a zip going up through my belly I feel wonderful x.
You are a great teacher. I just came back from medical center and was told I have small mechanical bowel obstruction. I needed to understand what that really means and what could have caused it. You simplify the illness. Thank you.
Omg you are so accurate with that. ERs in America are the worst inn the world! ER doctors: Your issues don't fit my kindergarten chart they gave me after I made it thru to the fifth grade. I'm finally getting a pill cam tomorrow morning. I found a real doctor that studied and practiced in India before moving here so he knows allot more than these doctors that are paid to drag any illness as looking as they can, no wonder America has the worst cure rate percentage in the world but America pays the most for health care. Tell me someone's not getting PAID!!
Stephanie P So where do we go to to avoid getting a run around? Canada, UK? US doctors suck? If u get a bowel obstruction and sepsis...they would have to sedated u and cut u open right? Treatment is still top of the line in the world right? Or is it like winning the lottery to get a competent ER doc and surgeon?
I have had Chronic Pseudo Obstruction Disease since 2004, when my entire large was removed. My surgeon did a straight pull-through procedure, so no bag. This is a rough disease. I've educated hospitals, as most hadn't even heard of it. Thank you so much for this video. It will help me explain it better. Just a note, specialists are surprised that I'm still alive.
Thank you for the video. I had a Gastric Sleeve about 3 weeks ago. My doctors wouldn't explain a Bowel Obstruction to me your video did so much. Thank you again!
I just got out of the hospital due to a blockage following a colectomy (3weeks prior) and your drawing is mesmerizing while also very clearly explaining the medical details. This is ASMR level learning...I love it, thank you!
Armando. Fantastic video. I’ve had a number of small bowel obstructions due to adhesions and the first time I went to A&E by myself in a taxi with a sick bowl convinced I had food poisoning! I was quickly diagnosed but the surgeons shield you from all of this. By the time of my 2nd 2 weeks later, I was a google expert and therefore terrified, lol. I also got MRSA and sepsis that time and was lucky to survive. Best video I’ve seen though with just facts and no scaremongering. Thanks.
Thank you for posting this. I am dealing with what seems to be a near-total obstruction of the lower bowel, and this helps me much more deeply understand the topic, in addition to the doctorate-level papers I've googled.

Great video. Thank you so much for sharing with the level of detail that you did. The drawings were excellent along with the explanation of everything. Although this knowledge can be scary for anyone who has experienced a small bowel obstruction, it's more valuable to understand what the drs are talking about than to wonder in ignorance. Again, thanks.
I believe I have dyssynergic defecation. I have been this way since I was 5. This would be classified under myopathy. I realized that there were white bumps appearing all over my body if I allowed stool to build up. After a few days of taking laxatives, enemas and the aid of a finger my skin began to clear up. I guess that the toxins were entering and circulating around my body and caused the skin problem. Does anyone know how to treat dyssynergic defecation?
Hi, many thanks. I am not a medic but I recently had a bowel obstruction following an emergency appendectomy. The hospital gave me little information about the obstruct so your video was very interesting. Mine was rectified by gastrografin enema. (for the non medics here, gastrografin is a liquid taken orally that effectively acts as an enema.)
Thankyou for such an informative video, l had a twisted bowel last February(2021) was lucky to survive, had emergency op, unfortunately my wound broke down which left me with an illeostomy, luckily I'm having a reversal op in 8 days time, but has been a long road to recovery for me..
Ty for explaining, my 5 year old always has problems with going to the bathroom, he keeps holding it in or holds his poop until some just goes in his underwear.. Idk if he's lazy then he says it hurts when he goes..so I've been giving him meds to poop but not sure if I should every other day or everyday until he's cleaned out??? I keep telling my son you can't keep holding your poop..I told his doctor and he did say its very dangerous..
I think I may be experiencing this now. Waiting on a returned call from my GI Dr. Thank you for this video! It's very informative & easy to understand.
Absolutely outstanding! I look forward to checking out your other videos. I very rarely use youtube videos because they are lengthy, you get right down to the guts of it
