5:10 - 5:40 it doesn't make sense to bring up a problem without having a solution. You're saying something that's already been addressed. Your viewers don't want regurgitated info, please. Work on that
For me, I always forget that it’s little movements that make your game. My crossover step is way too far. My arm is bent way too much, and my hand is cupped way too much. Great video y’all. Thanks for helping me improve my game.
I have been bowling now for only seven years (I’m 53). I have never taken an official lesson, and I have taught myself by watching the PBA pros and RU-vid. I have got to say, your channel is fantastic. I am learning some key fundamental, small and easy adjusts that I need to correct. My average is 190, and I bet after using the knowledge you guys are passing on, it will soon be over 200. Thanks! Keep up the great work the videos coming…
You all probably dont care but does someone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account? I somehow lost the account password. I would love any assistance you can give me.
@Houston Bodie i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im trying it out now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
If you take an odd number of steps you wouldn’t start on your right foot. So you’d want to cross over on your second step. The first step (with your left foot) should be a very small step. There have been videos in this from B&K before. If you take like a 7 step approach I’d guess it’d be around your fourth step to keep timing good. How many steps do you take?
@@jeffoconnor1192 tbh, I'm not even sure how many steps I take. I have an odd stance. For me, my left foot is directly in front of my right foot....kinda like you're doing a sobriety test for a police officer (lol). My calves are too large for me to put my feet completely side by side.
Thanks for this video about crossover step! I attempted this some time ago and got off balance listing to R(I am left handed). As you pointed out can happen if the crossover step to too far to R for me. If only the lanes were open in California I would be there practicing this. Guess will be do this in my living room!
I just found out, the crossover step is the reason I use three steps and not 4! I started with duck pins in 1974 and swithced to tenpins in the late 80's. I take two half-steps starting with the left foot as I am right-handed, ending with a longer slide with the left and the right swinging behind my back to finish. My throw does not have much power, just more accuracy. For proper context, I never won any individual trophy for championship of any kind. I am 5''6", 150 lbs and now 75 YO. Just perfectly happy scoring in the low 200s and spoiling championship dreams of some people.
@@Dencioize Nice! I recently had to hang up my "balls" because of severe back pain unfortunately due to having had 2 back surgeries in the past. Developed increased degenerative arthritis causing too much pain to bowl. Hope you keep bowling!
I kind of intuitively knew you had to cross over because idk how else to get a straight backswing, but I was definitely crossing over too much and it was messing up my footwork so much. Thanks!
Forgot thanks for the tip Daniel , i am decent player at 73 have never tried this will try soon i hope. Still want to shoot 300 at 80 , got the 70 covered. Thanks so much , teach an old dog new trick.
I think it would be more helpful if you spent less time showing what it looks like to crossover too far and more time showing what the crossover and following step should be.
This probably won't be read, but... So, im 44. Growing up 4 step was how I learned and the predominant way. 5 step was growing, but wasn't "the" way. Fast forward. I still 4 step, but I struggle with speed. No.. not that way. I cant get my ball speed DOWN. Im consistently 17. And can't seem to drop below... 16. A team mate and the PSO told me I should switch to 5 step and that would help slow me down. I dont see it or understand how. If the 5 step first step is a... waste and the 2nd is the timing step, that to me seems to add another place for inconsistencies in your approach and potential timing issues. Is the 5 step ACTUALLY that much better? Is it something I should be working on for my issue or do I need to look at something else (I think its in my release) Thanks guys! (My goal... bowl a regional. Currently 213 average at 2 different houses, 425-450rpm, 17mph)
Thanks for the free videos I really enjoy them and I wish I could join your training videos but the cost is to high for me and I am probably to old to make a big difference in my bowling so I will keep watching your free content and again thank you oh just to let you know I am a fellow Missourian I live in Sedalia
I picked up on this a little bit last night as I seem to struggle when I was taking that first step in the five step approach I felt as if my left foot was going out could not figure out why. I do plan to work on it but here is my question when you’re standing a little bit more open and your stance on the right hand and bowler that’s when it feels like I do it more often or is that my imagination. Any other tip on this particular video would be helpful and I thank you in advance
I am having issues with my steps I usually do a 4 steps but recently I haven been all messed I have been taking little small baby steps in between my normal steps and it's messing up my timing can anyone help?
1. Slight crossover to clear space for the ball, not too much, foot almost directly infront of backfoot 2. Knees slightly flex at crossover 3. happens at 2nd step 4.
Me and some friends have started bowling weekly or every other week or so. First time, no pain. But we only played like 2-3 rounds. No pain during, or after. Next time we went we bowled like 5 rounds. Pain started in like the 4th round and still hurts 3 days later. Pain is in the left side of my left leg. Below the glute and down the thigh. The “iliac” I believe. I presume its just soreness from the constant bowling motion. I walk up, “plant” the left foot, and sweep my right foot behind me. And idk if it matters but was using the heaviest ball(16). But I noticed some ppl mentioning “plant” vs “slide”?? Am i NOT supposed to plant my foot? Walk up, i guess a little “slide” into place then i plant my left foot and sweep my right leg back? Im not aware of any other less straining way to do this. I just thought it is what it is, part of bowling. And maybe the more i bowl, itll just go away after my leg gets used to it? But if im wrong and theres a safer and better way that puts lets stress on the leg, please lemme know!! I enjoy bowling but if this pain is constant and possibly harmful in the long run, then def not worth it imo. Would appreciate any advice, thank you👍🏼
The step after the crossover should go a bit more to the left, not in front of the right foot like it may sound from this. You'd want to open your hips and shoulders. If your swing goes back and your balance arm forward thumb down, it's pretty hard not to open up tbh. You can see Brad's third step being a bit out to the left. You get your left foot underneath your body again with the slide going slightly right to get the foot close to the ball! Source: ETBF coach level 1 course
after watching this. i went to bowling lane for the first time in years and tried right foot cross over and felt really weird. Turns out ive always did a small step left with my left foot, push my ball out in front of me then step left with my right foot before i go thru my back swing. is that bad?
@bradandkyle I know this will probably not happen but how did you guys get sponsored by the storm in Brads case, or how would someone go about trying to get sponsored
Is this mainly for one handers as I still have 2 hands on my ball bringing it back? Might try it just to see if it helps my release point but I feel my balance might get thrown off.
Just got back on the lanes yesterday. If folks are still hesitant to get back to bowling, then let me just say this. AMF/Bowlero bowling centers have their stuff together! Mask regulations, every other lane open for distancing, some lanes pre-setup with house balls (to limit spreading of germs of course) and some left open for bowlers with their own equipment. I actually enjoyed it more than pre-pandemic bowling because I knew I didn't have to worry about people bowling next to me. It felt really good to be back out there!
Okay, not to be ...very disrespectful, but, Kyle, you still haven't won any titles or championships and are still bowling just the same way as you were a few years back. Balls!!! Now listen up, I have a deal for you. I want to pay you $4,000 (should cover your expenses for the trip here and back with accommodations at any hotel of your choice in and around the central NYC area. Marriott, Hilton, or motel 8 if you want them. Here's the deal: You will bowl 10 games vs. Daniel McEwan at her favorite bowling alley, now under a different name. I will make all the arrangements as I know she will agree. This is for my channel, as I have no more content because I went on a deleting spree. I will video tape so you don't have to :) Game on? Talking about 5 months from now. Go Bowling!!!
PBA titles are not easy to come by. I think both Kyle and Brad are very competitive on tour and have solid games. Kyle was number 8 in points as of Sept. 2019 and Brad was 18'th. For sure I would love to see the matchup though against McEwan though. Might as well include Brad in the competition as well. They could take Shannon along with them and make it a doubles matchup.
I am good at telling the future , you guys are so natural. If the PBA was smart you would be the future. If the network sees this hire these guys for more side stories and color. You always get the most out of all your guests and seem to get all your guests to enjoy their time on your shows. I have done a lot of tv myself ad-lib everything just like you guys. Your both , doing an awesome job, keep up the great work .
Depends on how strong you are, and the way you roll. What weight are you comfortable with? Do you curve the ball? Are you only willing to have one ball, rather than an Arsenal?
cytrus I’m fairly strong. I throw a 16lb ball at the moment and curve it. I don’t really bowl that much so probably wouldn’t invest more than 2 bowling balls.
Bowling XP ! maybe I wasn’t clearly enough, he moves a little his right knee when the ball passes beside. twitter.com/maan_kyjas/status/1298241805868244993?s=21
@@maankyjas2489 Ok. That has probably to do with his pushaway, that was a little to the left and could not clear the body well. He is not perfect guys, everyone has little things here and there that is trying to fix. :)
@@rotoryan How do you not trip on yourself? Well a video would help fix this. Just try to do the approach without a ball first, and get used to making the crossover 2nd step, and then the 4th step also crosses over just a little bit.
Bowling XP ! Sometimes I do if my angles are straighter or if I’m playing outside 5. That’s easier said than done. Been walking around for 5+ years attempting to fix it on my own
I just joined a bowling 🎳 team and we just had are bowling 🎳 tournament !! My best friend is a professional bowling 🎳 player !!! I hope that someday I can win 🥇 a first place 🥇!! I’m going to continue practicing
