Believe it or not a few years ago I caught a little one in my toy cup (it was one of those tiny fake cups that kids play with) and I showed my parents and they thought it was so cool because we couldn’t see it without putting a spoon in the cup and bugging it. But now looking up “invisible jellyfish “ and finding videos saying how dangerous it is like woah glad I didn’t get stung 😓
you're bonkers, glad we dont have box jellies here in the uk, mind you, we got portugese man of war, mauve stinger, compass, lions mane, and blue jellyfish which are a nuisance.
@@Cornell84 no idea never been stung and hopefully never will be, portugese man of war, lions mane blue jelly and compass plus the mauve stinger are twats i believe, the barrel jelly is harmless
@@vikingsmb I know all about the lions mane, plenty of them here in Norway, its like a nettle sting but a little bit worse. But harmless in terms of fatality or long term injuries. Saw some australian lifeguards getting stung by the portugese man of war, but in a controlled environment, didnt look to bad, guess its worse in the water where you get tentacles wrapped around you. Some crazy australians even get stung by the box jellyfish on purpose and it doesnt look bad at all - But again in a controlled environment. I only know the lions mane by my own experience, always been interested in how it compares to all the other species. There is also another type here (Periphylla periphylla) but one rarely gets to see them as they prefer deeper waters, but they are said to have a mild sting.
@@vikingsmb i’m 14 and got stung by a compass jelly it isn’t as bad as i thought😅 just burns and itches for about 10 minutes and then on and off for about 30 then it goes away completely. i used vinegar and a disinfection spray for the area right after i got off shore and took a hot shower and i was fine 👍
you dont even know what you're talking about, Most sting casualties, die within minutes from cardiac arrest. literally 2-5 mins without treatment, youre done
