Unlike wine, Tom’s voice got worse with time, for whatever reason. Boxcar Racer Tom Delong vocals are peak and iconic and now he sounds like he’s stroking out when he sings lmao..why? Idk
My first proper girlfriend got it for me on my birthday... and the line "I remember a perfect birthday, I remember when I was young" will forever resonate with me
One of the many no-skippers by our boy Thomas DeLonge. I remember the day my mom brought home the CD for me. I put it in my Sony Walkman, sat in my bed, and just listened to the entire album start to finish in awe. Definitely a defining moment for me.
Such a good album, so nostalgic for me. An i and there is my two favorite songs on the cd but honestly I listen to the whole thing, minus the instrumental at the end
Amazing! Great to hear! Just turned 38 and my 13 year old daughter loves Box var racer, deftones and Blink 182! We are going to see blink 182 together next week 🤘
i like box car racer as an album more than just about every blink album, with maybe untitled being the one that is an exception. that 3 album run for Tom of Box Car, Untitled blink album, and then the first angels album was peak
@@stevenm6301”terrible production”. Lol. Stop trying to sound like you’re Mr. Music producer. Sounds like something you heard someone say once and now you say it to sound smart.
I remember countless nights blasting this and ripping on guitar. The guitar on this album is what got me. So raw. I loved playing it. Still do. Timeless.
Saw them on the tour they did with H2O amd The Used. Got Travis' autograph. I was in 8th grade and in my forst punk band. One of the coolest times in my life!
I’ve been picking out songs from this album and it has definitely stood the test of time. I could only imagine how dark a direct follow up to self titled could have been. Oh what could have been 🥲
Def agree! And can we give props to +44 (plus forty-four) Mark’s band (where Travis also played drums) of skate type pop-punk? That was awesome as well!
As a relatively friendless kid who had zero exposure to music outside of TV, Box Car Racer was the first time something “harder than my dad’s music” caught my ear. Then a few years later talking about them with a friend brought me to Slipknot and Hatebreed and holy shit did I like that. Eventually that got me into Hardcore and I’ve never loved a genre as much as I do HC, but Box Car Racer was definitely the gateway drug for me
You couldn’t be more wrong. Tom was offered a solo deal by the studio. And he said I can’t do a solo thing, so he did a side project band instead thinking that wouldn’t cause as much drama. However, we all know mark felt salty. He probably shouldn’t have used Travis. Might have helped with the situation back then.
I like Boxcar now more than when it first came out. Also love Tom’s early AVA stuff, even though it’s so different from Boxcar. He’s a next-level-gifted songwriter.
I feel bad for Mark, as this was the beginning of the end of what was Blink but Boxcar was an incredible band. The new song, TERRIFIED, from the new Blink album is an old unnoficial Boccar song, and it's the best song on the new album.
I have the album on CD and was tired the other day so I took a nap while listening to it and it was the best nap of the week (I mean this in a great way I love the album so so so much)
I remember downloading this album one at a time, taking 30 minutes a song. I would make a new burnt cd every few songs so i could add them and eventually get the entire thing.
Being 38 years old and following Blink 182 since Cheshire Cat album… Tom, Mark and Travis (even though Travis didn’t get in the until later on around Enema Of The State I believe) they still f’in rock BUT Box Car Racer with Tom and Travis was amazing IMO Never really took off but that album was awesome… Soooooo many great songs!!!!
I found this album in the library when I was 13 and checked it out because I thought the artwork looked cool. Ripped it onto my 128mb mp3 player and played that shit for at least a year without removing it. Great album.
