Whos here in 2024 crying with Boxcar Willie? I held my mothers hand as she died from leukemia. God please bless those fighting the fight and God bless my Mother and Boxcar Willie
I am sorry for your loss and hope that you are safe and well keep listening to music it brings back memories and good for peace of mind and content. Best wishes, kind regards
I heard box car for the first time at 8 years old 1980. my parents were big fans of country music and regularly we played his music and I loved it and by the way I'm from the UK 🇬🇧
Boxcar Willie is legendary. He kept those traditional songs rolling down the rails blowing those horns all the way. I remember asking Sant for Best Of Boxcar album and was ecstatic that Christmas morning as I seen it under the tree. Whether it be Jimmy Rodgers, Roy Acuff., Johnny cash, Newbury, Wayne the Train" Habcock, Boxcar played them all on stage in Branson. Godspeed Box!
You can see him, even as weak as he is, feeding off the energy of the crowd. Also, he stays extremely humble during the introduction. RIP Lecil Travis Martin aka Boxcar Willie 1931-1999
You never get over losing a legend like boxcar Willy, he’s never really gone, his Music will live on forever so when we think of him he’s with us. Thank god for RU-vid.
@5:00 I wonder if when he about choked up on tears if was his realization that be last time on grand ole opry ? Either way he sounded amazing. I'm grateful for the music he's left behind for us all
I watched this live . I am glad we can go back and watch our entertainers sing these songs over and over again since so many have passed Thanks for this kind of technology we have today .
When I was growing up and he was in his prime, I had no idea how blessed I was to be born in an era of true legends. Living legends. George Jones, Boxcar Willie, Roy Acuff, Ernest Tubb, Little Jimmy Dickens, and the whole crowd from Hee Haw. Too many more to mention. Music was just great then.
i used to love to play the song lonesome Joe i still play it now and then that's is why i never want to se real country music die have a great day Mike .........................................................................................................Wilf Saulnier
I remember hearing Boxcar’s Version of Wabash cannonball for the first time his version of that song is the best version by far! Nobody will be able to do the train whistle like he did! And I doubt anybody will be able to do it like he did!
In tears watching this. Have grown up listening to Boxcar and I've brought my daughter up listening to him. Lovely man. May his music always be remembered!!
I just couldn't hold back the tears as I watched this his virtually last performance. His voice still clear, rich and golden in sound. Never too late to say Rest in Perfect Peace Boxcar Willie.
Merle was just a regular dude that liked his coffee and food and peace and quiet and privacy like everyone else. Never knew he did such a great Johnny impression. Thanks for sharing.
His courage shines throug, We here in Scotland have fond memories of Boxcar when he spent so much time over here,Sadly missed, We took him as one of our own
Because he knew was dying. He sang Wabash Cannon Ball because he promised Roy Acuff he would always sing The Wabash Cannon Ball. Now they are in heaven singing together again.

Seen Boxcar 10 time in Branson. His show was one my wife and I went to every year on our anniversary trip to Branson. The last time we seen him we got to talk a few minutes with him just the three of us standing in the entry way of the theater talking then went to his museum and he told us and others about the things in there. He us a great man. He loved his fans as much as we loved him. I sure miss him. God bless.

A huge talent who gave much joy to lovers of this genre of music...An original artist and a great American patriot who served his country as a flight engineer in the US Airforce 1949-1976....much respect

Boxcar Willie was a very special man. My late mother in law and my ex-husband got to know him when he was a performer at The Grapevine Opry in Grapevine, TX that was run by Chisai Childs. My mother in law was one of the back up singers there. My ex and I were on our way back from a trip to South Dakota and we decide to stop in Branson with the hope of visiting him. Sadly Boxcar passed away the evening before we arrived. Since we were stuck there for a week we stood on the balconey outside our room and watched as the procession passed by on it's way to his final resting place. It was very touching and moving.
GOD BLESS BOXCAR. EVEN WHEN I'LL, HE STILL CAME ON STAGE FOR HIS FANS. I HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF SEEING HIM AND THE TEXAS TRAINMEN LIVE IN CONCERT AND THOSE 2 TIMES WILL REMAIN WITH ME UNTIL I TAKE MY LAST BREATH. 🏴🤠👍🌹
Love it! The Wabash Cannon Ball! Box Car Willie doing the train sounds too! Just so so cool! He sounds great and looks great! Little Jimmy Dickens instruction was very good and he is dressed in his fancy clothes! Both such a blessing to country music, and all it's fans!
