Hey all, Another replay of Boxer owning an opponent with a rather unique rush. 2002 non-league game Map: Lost Temple Boxer: Yellow T, 6 War3: Purple Z, 9
I wish CholeraSC hadn't pulled a disappearing act. English BW casts were the highlight of my high school years, and Cholera was the best of all of them. I really hope he didn't die of cholera on his way to Oregon.
@typoded exactly, the opponent thought boxer was scouting, simple as that. The opponent did a very poor job of scouting after the initial drone (as in, nothing until that one zergling after boxer started attacking) , there was no way he could have known about boxer's rax until it was too late. If boxer had just sent a regular m&m, chances are he would have made it to the expo right as it was finishing/finished and knocked it down no problem.
From Wikipedia: "Marines [from the English adjective marine, meaning of the sea, via French marin(e), of the sea from Latin marinus ("maritime"),] are military forces similar to the army. Historically the marine forces or marine corps are infantry forces that are part of the country's navy. However, in some countries the marine force or marine corps is under independent command." The marines in Starcraft are derived from Warhammer 40K's Space Marines.
@typoded yes. yes, I do. The other guy spent his resources on another expo. Boxer was able to get four rax AND an academy while the other side had perhaps a total of 8 zerglings by the time Boxer was attacking in earnest, maybe no more than four before that.
Usually Zerg because I know the race the best, and sometimes Protoss because I really like its wide number of tech choices. I'm horrible at Terran, but strangely intrigued by that race at the same time ^^
For replays, definitely. Korean VODs, depends on whether I can find HQ videos, like my All-Skins Matches. But for a lot of the classic games I can't find any original videos, so I'm forced to use the flash videos from RU-vid, and there the quality will still be shoddy. The present-day games should be better, though, so try the &fmt=18 trick on them.
ah.. you seem to post a lot of terran, thought that meant you were one! im a terran player myself. hate protoss - they're so easy to win with. zerg i suck horribly with, and get pwned every time i play as 'em.
@typoded he had no units because he used the larva to drone up actualy non of the above if zerg dont drone and keep up in economy terran will win so he was like ohh ok boxer is expoing ill drone up used all his larva and then guess what 4 rax and he only has like 3 new larva six lings wont do shit vs 4 fire bats u wud literally need 20+ lings to kill 4 stimed fire bats and then it wud be lucky if the bats dident win
Marines have land, air, and water forces. The real point of the Marine Corps is to be a special branch of the military that can respond to crises faster than the others, since (I believe) they are the only branch that can be deployed in a foreign country without Congress' approval. I could be wrong about the last part, but mainly, Marines are higher trained and the first to fight.
right. but that is not the case in the united states. blizzard is an usa company. but you are right about them being specialized in amphibious assault. but it just seems right for the soldiers to be called marines. you cant call em navy becuse theyre not on the water, not air force cause they dont fly, not army because... your whole units are the 'army' so marines is the simplest most appropriate term for the basic ground infantry.
@typoded how can u make zerg lings when he used all his larva on drones not expecting a crazy 4 barracks lift tactic so basicly he had 2 hatch he used larava on drones thinking he safe he sees 4 rax landing by then 1 or 2 larva outa each hatch thats max 8 zerglings so ur telling me 8 lings can kill 4 stimed fire bats man stfu and learnt he game =(((
Right, and what are Starcraft marines if not units that get dropped off on the space equivalent of amphibious missions (dropships, rax float lol)? Large spacecraft (in fiction obviously) are generally referred to as Navy, and the troops they carry with them would be marines. See Doom, Aliens, Warhammer 40k, etc etc
@brainwasher9876 except the zerg knew he wasn't doing a regular m&m and he couldn't have anyway since he stayed on one bare rax so long, so if he WAS doing a regular m&m it would've been stopped. not to mention that the zerg was watching for what came out boxer's front door not vice versa.
@brainwasher9876 you can't just say oh man if he had more units right now he could've won. you have to first get units which involves building more stuff by which time your opponent can make his own stuff. the reason the zerg had no units is because he thought boxer was expanding.
You kind of ruin the surprise by pretending to not know whats going to happen, then saying it's really cool what he's about to do, then saying it'll be interesting to find out what the racks are for... then saying you like what he does later. Just sayin...
@ikameozero that's exactly what i meant, if he wouldn't have made those drones had he seen the attack coming, but since he did the rax drop play he didn't which is why he wouldn't have just lost with a regular m&m build.
I liked the English Commentary cause I can actually understand it, but I dislike it because it's not as exciting as the korean one. So I guess this vid is more balanced between entertaining and revealing.
true. although, the latest patch has now allowed replays to save the chats that you see. you still cant see the ones one the opposite team or whispered.
Boxer's like Napoleon. He does absolutely insane attacks that nobody would expect him to have the balls to do and causes utter panic among the opponent.
@ikameozero your statement literally proved my point exactly. If he was doing nothing but mass drones, regular M&M (or literally any other army for the matter) would have steamrolled the enemy base. He didn't even have sunkens in his expo.
