In the sports club I frequently go to there's this Korean guy in his mid-50s who's always on his phone while waiting for his turns. Out of curiosity I asked him one day how he was doing, what he was watching and he showed me, replays of Boxer matches. Cool dude. Told me everyone his generation back in Korea knew Boxer. He said he would beat me playing random in BGH too. 😅
Do my eyes DECIEVE ME?! 🎉We are entering a golden era of SC BW. `Slayers_Boxer` Is your favorite player's favorite player. he is the one who created and mastered the famous tank drop. his micro is what inspired every single pro player, including Flash. He once famously said. Please don't forget me. We won't Boxer. We won't. 🏆
@@Repetoire heheh, the chess reference is hard, Carlsen is so much better then Morphy. Maybe even in talent, just maybe. But i am not so much into sc, and i am not sure about boxer, but i am sure about flash era.
@@matejtopic826 Yes Carlsen is a better player on an absolute level, he is the strongest chess player of all time. But Murphy was relatively the strongest of all time, since he was so far above his peers it wasnt even funny. Carlsen isnt that far above his peers. What makes Murphy's accomplishment so great is that its extremely difficult to get so good without someone else at your level who can drive you forward, challenge you and force you to improve.
Boxer is the reason I watch pro Starcraft at all. If not for him I wouldn't still be here! I've always wanted to ask you Artosis what your opinion of him is and where he ranks all-time or any other important contributions he had. To me, he will always be the father of ALL esports. Thank you so much for finding his this and I hope you cast more!
The commentary play-by-plays have brought this all to a whole new level of a package. Really impressed with how much this channel is still improving (from already top tier reference point :D), the flow and tone of it are an absolute blast to watch and will give many of these replay casts great replayability. More tags on games maybe?
Love watching Boxer play, even to this day. Brings back a lot of memories, nostalgia and most importantly inspiration. Makes me want to play competitively again and pick up Terran.
He's one of the first pro SC players I ever knew, gives me a lots of nostalgia and also makes me so happy his still playing and being a GOAT, salutes to all veteran SC:BW players around here! Legends never die
I recently watched a Korean game show called "The genius" with Boxer and Yellow in them. Boxer's personality was so funny especially in season 2. Definitely recommended.
Does anyone else remember Lego Island for the PC? Using Spider Mines to help your tanks escape the goons reminds me of dropping pizza during the Lego car race to slow down your opponents
I still remember watching Boxer replays. Being a Zerg player myself I wanted to root for Yellow but Boxer was always two steps ahead of him in terms of strategy and execution. I am pretty sure one of their finals is available in RU-vid, I remember seeing it in terrible quality. Also remember KlazartSC and VioletAK commentaries of Boxer games, I believe after he came back from the military. The videos could only be 10 minutes long, and sometimes when the match ended soon they would upload "anti-spoiler videos" so that you don't figure out too quickly what happens.
00:00 this intro is SO EPIC at 00:28 the trumpet come in right before Artosis starts speaking again, emphasing the moment in a legendary fashion, perfect moment SSS content
Crecí viendo las partidas los replays de boxer para mí el mejor boxer de la historia las partidas contra los top Zerg y los Protoss sus micro Game los movimientos de los fantasmas contra los Carriers ver a boxer jugar en 2023 es un lujo
Man, this takes me back. Boxer, Yellow, Garimto. I loved Nal_Ra, and his attempted come back had a cool documentary showing the crazy training necessary. I remember seeing the stadiums and costumes the players wore, and being amazed at the spectacle of the birth of eSports.
The most important player in the history of starcraft casting SlayerS_'BoxeR'!!!! Excellent! :P Loved watching Boxer play back in the day, and even now after all these years he's still playing at a really high level! Good memories!
Very impressive micro and fighting ability in the centre of the map, based on the way he played I got the sense that he wanted to be all-in during the mid game and overwhelm the opponent rather than play a long game. Reminds me a bit of how Jaedong played when he first came back.
I clicked so fast. I missed out on so much starcraft history but not learning about the pro scene until college due to the starcraft 2 beta videos with day9.
this is the second video ive commented on and not in order of release. idk if it's becuase Boxer is an absolute legend or you're absolutely great at what you do. Either way cheers toasty (that's what a call you in my head)
I agree with the other comments, i would be very interested in the more older games of pros in general. Games that changed the way starcraft would be played, historical moments. Or even just games where you can learn about strategy/ tactics of races. That would be very informative and interesting
Great game and cast. By the way I could very easily have been mistaken but did Boxer also make heavier use of repairing units in the field, especially with those early pushes, than is common these days?
I did feel that there was something special about the nickname 'Emperor of Terran' that was given to me. Though I regularly practice over ten hours and my entire body feels like it will melt down, I hold myself up, thinking, "I should live up to the name." -Lim Yo-Hwan
Pretty amazing that early 40s when he hasn't played competitively in call it 15+ years, he can hold his own still against the top foreign player. Not that he would but if he put the time into it he could probably make ASL again within a season or two, or at least make a deep qualifiers run
Impressive that he is still able to play at this level at 43! i cant even play starcraft anymore my fingers hurt like crazy when i do and im only in my 30s... :(
@@usmh Young people don't realize how demanding BW is. The body isn't made for games like this. It's why all the pros always end up getting surgeries.
The Terran Emperor himself. The godfather of innovative strategies. Gosugaming where i watch or DL replays just to catch of glimpse of his plays. Correct me if im wrong, Artosis u appear in Xellos era, which i refer the prince or the successor of Terran.
I distinctly remember, either during ASL season 15 or 16, we saw a player do Boxer style marine micro vs some lurkers, and Tastosis were both cracking up because that's something nobody's done since Boxer's time. It's wild how much the game has changed since then. Loved seeing this game, even if Boxer looked a little weaker in the modern era.
BoxeR really showed in that early game why once upon a time the FD push was so popular and strong back in the day. putting the pressure on the protoss instead of having the pressure on you is VERY effective even for a build that by today's standards is not very strong anymore. even though the Protoss had a much earlier expansion, BoxeR not only kept up but was really laying it on. ultimately, having that earlier expo did snowball, but it still really shows just how effective it can be.
