So absolutely right. Love him since I was a child since I was born in 1976. Lost George Michael. But a bit confused that WHAM were not big in the States as he stated in interview. WHAM make it big was what launched George Michael into one of the 80s biggest and most iconic artists of that era . And of any era. Strange oversight
My late sister met George Michael and the other guy in Wham in a hotel in NYC in the late 80s. She said he was very gracious, sweet and so incredibly beautiful! RIP to both of them!
I'm besotted by his ever present transparency and unapologetic authenticity. No matter where he is, who he's talking with, he is always the beautiful multidimensional human / energy being, George.
I've always liked Boy George, and I am sooooo glad that he's pulled himself together and has stayed sober. He is a lovely, sweet man. My partner met George many years ago, when Culture Club was at their peak, and speaks very highly of him.
Had to put in my two cents on boy George! My daughter was a teenager when George started! She came to me telling me I had to see this singer! When I saw him I was blown away! Still blown away at 72!
meowmeow meow I watched 1987 interview (after his drug use ended) in Spain. Once he got sober..he never wore as much makeup. He was makeup free in that interview and DANG was he cute! Lol
@@lessismore8533 I love his accent. He is very sweet talking about his competitive but friendly relationship with George. Gives him respect and so sad at his passing. Boy George looks great here, and has a great personality. Still love those eyes!
He’s definitely recorded plenty of music. It’s just that no broadcaster really is that interested in him anymore now. He’s considered a relic of the past.
Freddie Mercury and Queen’s popularity pretty much faded in America after “Radio Ga-Ga.” And the London side of Live Aid that they performed on was not shown in America at the time.
I liked Culture Club back in the 80s, but how on Earth can Boy George say that Wham! wasn't popular in America?! I LIVED it, and I remember the mania over Wham! and George Michael. Yes, Culture Club got on the US charts first, by about a year or so. But in 1984, Wham!'s "Make it Big" album was a HUGE success! When Wham! toured America in 1985, Culture Club was already waning in popularity. People in the U.S. were crazy for George Michael and Wham!, long before GM's "Faith" album. Just stating the facts.
MsKim14 With all due respect, I think you misunderstood his statement... I saw the video twice and I guess he meant to say that they both were famous in America but not at the same time... And I think I agree... Thinking back I remember Boy George and Culture Club hit wave was in the early '80s (82/85) But Wham strong years and later George Michael solo carrier spam from mid '80s to early '90s and beyond...
MsKim14 I remember that I was a teenager in 1984 and enjoyed watching wake me up before you go go video! That started wham fan base growth. Rest In Peace G.M
He cruised public toilets now and again, for grown men who knew what they were doing, as long as he didn't touch children or teenagers, I'm not bothered by George's love / sex life.
I was always in love with GM recently discovered BG… in past didn’t understand BG…now I see how intelligent BG is!!!!! Omg! Love him to pieces! Proud of him admire him!!!!😘
I felt that Wham! was very successful here. I was a teenager when Wham! hit big here. But Boy is in the music industry so he knows more about it than me, but from experience I recall Wham! was huge.
Your all Great Artists, you all have filled my life with awesome music and I thank you all from the top to the bottom of my heart. I look back at Boy George and The Culture Club all the time. Thank you all so much, I hold you dear in my heart. Beautifully Amazing. Peace & ♡Love♡ All, Blessings All.
Love Boy George! I discovered him when I was a kid! Every New Years they had old 80's music videos going on the television and I saw him and became a huge fan, even though he was wayyyy before my time. :) He looks happier than ever though, I'm so glad he seems to be in a really awesome place. x
@@lessismore8533Perhaps Boy George was a bit too snarky for her. Boy George developed that reputation over time. His public persona quickly overshadowed his music.
It was a sad day when George Michael died. One of my all time favorite artists (Prince and Bowie were also in my top favorites). It's great to see Boy George is still sober. He has such an amazing voice as well, I'd hate for him to ruin it. I notice he said they were like rivals, though I'm sure it was more or less a friendly one. Culture Club was big though. I know a lot of people point out how big George Michael was, but that was when he went solo. Unfortunately Boy George's solo stuff doesn't always get played. Even George Michael's stuff in the later years was pretty much ignored. I think since Listen Without Prejudice the music industry thought he turned his back on them, as he seemed to regret what he was doing prior that made him famous. And the music industry sucks when it coms to nurturing true musicians and artists.
Listen Without Prejudice and later was only ignored in the United States. Those latter albums did better than Faith in the UK. George Michael had a long career even if he was ignored in the States. Also I don't think their rivalry was "friendly". Back in the day Boy George wasn't the nicest of people and have on several occasions spoken not too fondly of GM.
Calvin Gregory nah it wasn't friendly not back then atleast at a certain point GM threatened to whip Boy George and called him the B word because BG was making rude remarks towards him
George Michael was way more friendly and kind that Boy George will ever be you didn't hear George being stuck up and snotty about Rival artists because he was not an immature person who got jealous of people
George Michael's manager was a Nichiren Buddhist and the slogan CHOOSE LIFE that Wham wore for Wake Me Up was from a book that came out around the same time, containing dialogue from a discussion between a prominent British Dr and the leader of one of the organisations claiming to represent Nichiren's teaching of Nam-myoho-renge-kyo. I'm not sure if George Michael ever chanted, but I often wonder now how different his life may have developed if he had done and continued to do as Boy George has.
Both George's hold their own they dont compare because they are the icons of the 80,90 etc.. Luv them and Thank them for alot of my happiest memories....
Just do it! Doing drugs is NOT an involuntary action. Your heart has to pump and your lungs have to breathe, but you dont HAVE to pick up some drugs and put them in your body. Good luck.
Trying is the first & hardest step. It's cheesy but trust the steps! Remember Always YOU have to change People. Places, & Things to stay sober. Love Yourself. Getting in touch with God certainly doesn't hurt either.
Right off the bat my mom adored Boy George. She saw the man he was, the talent, the hardships. I agreed with her. Sometime's people never look past the external. Life is bigger! If you can't see the "heart" in Boy George, you are blind! That's the tragity! I am 67 now. Every year his "heart" grows bigger.
