It's not the minor's fault that he has mental illness (es.) These people are angry they don't have a "normal" kid so they are totally being abusive!! This can only make the boy WORSE! All they should have done was seek GOOD mental health care and take direction from professionals. They are HORRIBLE parents. I've never heard of such a thing what they did!!!! They built him a prison cell. If he was actually a serious danger to the family the parents should have placed in in a safe place where he could receive proper healthcare.

I, too, had trouble with my then teenage son, and sometimes despaired being caught in a quagmire. We did get him to see a psychologist but I wanted to get another doctor as I didn't really feel confident in her. Another Dr. didn't materialize. Aside from the psychological problems, at the deeper root was a very serious illness of diabetes 1, affecting health and mental acuity. He began smoking marijuana at age 13 with his friends. Everything spiralled out of control when he was 17 and after loud words, in out-of-control anger, he broke my husband's wrist ( who had always treated him well) accidentally and broke my nose. We told him he couldn't stay with us anymore and wd hv to find his own way. He went to a girlfriend 's to spend the night and the next day, after coming home to pack, left on a bus for his grandparents ' home, a long ways away. His grandfather was very strict, said "no dope or you're gone", and that was adhered to. There, he graduated from HS with honors,as well as community college. He worked on a fishing boat alone, until he was brought down by diabetic comas, and saved by the Coast Guard. He was an athlete but succumbed to his disease at age 40. When he was with us, he had love and support, good meals made by my husband while I was away at work, an art and book-filled comfortable apartment in which to live in a nice area. He left his house to us in his will ( and had legally already changed his name to my husband's shortly after arriving at his grandparents ' ). Every situation is different. But putting a young man in a box in garage with a bucket is no solution. To be raised without love or familial privileges is cruelty beyond description. The parents should have gotten therapy for their adopted son, as well as for themselves. I look at them & find it hard to believe that these young & attractive people cd hv done this but then again, we are living in a time when there are ever more of not-to-be explained familial murders and heinous acts of violence perpetrated.

- Having him skip meals and then let their attorney mock him for stealing "sugary snacks" during the trial; - Obviously not providing him with the material he needs for school and then "punishing" him for "stealing a calculator" (which teenager steals a CALCULATOR without any reason?) - and this comes on top of treating him like a slave and human punching bag to elevate their own egos. Both have done this the whole time. After listening to them slamming this door open and shut for over 4 hours, even I was afraid when I heard my girlfriend opening the bedroom door yesterday. This poor child never had a chance, because he was being berated and "disciplined" for every breath he took. I am hoping that the jury will see through the victim blaming argument the defense tries to make. This is beyond disgusting, but it was never - in any way, shape or form - the result of this kid's behavior. We are not talking about parenting here - this has nothing to do with his behavior, but everything with their abusive behavior towards a teenager who was so isolated (on purpose!) that he didn't see any way to defend himself against these people.

Withholding food is child abuse! I have no idea why we as society ever condoned it. The Ole "You are going to bed without dinner!" Has been a total norm forever. I have been parenting daily for 26+ years, My children have never been denied food or forced to eat something they didn't want. A grandparent once suggested sending one child from the table hungry during the meal for behavior. I said very firmly that we don't isolate or withhold food as punishment ever. If our phones can listen and target ads so well, there should be some way to catch this stuff going on and put an end to the abuse of children. The late great Whitney 🌹RIP🌹 said it best in "greatest love of all" to fill these children with pride and self-assurance to enjoy their innocence and love them in and through every success and failure because they are the future! Also, because they are humans! They are not here to make us proud, give us something to brag about/show off, and meet any created expectations. The Joy comes from watching them become the humans they are meant to be by keeping them safe from adults, gently guiding, encouraging, and loving. ❤

FYI Jim Carrey, Elon Musk plus many more have ADHD. Simone Biles who's now the most decorated gymnast in history has ADHD. FYI it's trifecta-medication(trial and error)therapy and exercise. Their other children were allowed to get a cookie or snack from the kitchen, but if he did it he was accused of “stealing”. This started when he was eight. The parents said he wasn’t allowed sugar. That only makes people realize that the abuse started long before the box was added into the mix. Not that I had any doubts. This kind of abuse doesn't start out of the blue.

Adults find it hard to cope with solitary confinement let alone a child. Most solitary confinement occurs over a 15 day period while this child spend most of the day there apart from his school day, from age 11 to 14. There is no control over his environment like lighting or air conditioning. Nearly 59% of adults develop mental health issues let alone a child with these circumstances No wonder he acted out. He seemed to be singled out, this wasn’t the punishment for the other kids. They need to experience a bit of what they put their son through.

My guess is is since they provided very limited therapy and they themselves didn’t partake in any that the boy’s condition worsens and he became more irate and dangerous because OF THE ABUSE and one does not have to be a doctor to come to that assessment it’s a no brainer. The school counselor suggested he should be allowed to quit school at 16 y.o. bc he never applied himself, despite high intelligence. He apologized to me years later acknowledging his behavior 'until I was 21 y.o'. He got his GED and has held a job for 25 years, working his way up to department manager. His brother, the 'well-behaved one' who got good grades, had many friends, served in the US Navy for four years and obtained a bachelor's degree, confessed many years later that he grew up feeling 'second fiddle' compared to the squeaky wheel brother. Can you IMAGINE WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN TO THIS BOY!?! A couple more years or less, the clock was ticking! Do you think they were just gonna keep him his adult life in a box? Set him free to tell? No way ... The next step would've been murder, because the parents would've felt the clock ticking on their actions, fear of exposure all the time, it was too late....there was only one next step, silencing him, they'd already detached from him, disassociated from him, devaluated him....the next step was going to be murder if he hadn't gotten away. The parents look so militant and terse, still holding to their belief that the public wouldn't see the truth ...true psychopathic narcissists, there's no way they'd ever have exposed themselves by setting him free. They were already turning him into an object of their disdain, disassociating and villifying him. The next step would've been murder, by neglect or intentional, a few days not turning on the a/c depriving him of food. What else were they gonna do at this point? This boy escaped and stopped his own murder, the parents already had shown their capacity for such horrors, the next step would've been to silence him and protect themselves. They'd never would have exposed themselves, they'd already gone too far, his murder would have been the inevitable next step. Thank God he got away! The dad's homeschooling threat, like omg... the family, their kids were used to him being separated, not seeing him around, pulling him outa school would be the next step to murder, no one would be looking for him, missing him, not at home, not at school, you know this father was gonna make his next move towards murder....it is so obvious I can't believe it wasn't brought up in court as the next step. I mean what else were they gonna do at this point?

You make a good point. But the reason it was not brought up as a potential outcome is because it is only 'potential'. So it would not have been allowed to be entered as such b/c it is speculation, not evidence. Ironically though, I'm not sure what to speculate about a fear of exposure because he was willing to go to trial as opposed to a plea deal, which would have lessened their exposure. The dad is just so self-righteous, thinking the world would agree with him. Ha~!! If he gets convicted, I wonder if it is too late for the mom to take a plea deal. She should. The boy should not have to be put through separate trials thereby having to testify twice. It is also traumatic. Do you know how they were able to get separate trials or where I can read about how this case got exposed, and more details?

I shudder to think what would have, eventually, happened to this boy, if none of this was found out. From listening to the male abuser yelling and belittling this boy in the harshest way, physical abuse was next. Or starvation. I feel the anger at these trivial things they think the boy has done is horrendous. Threatening to homeschool him and never let him out for taking things out of the car, and having chocolate? They would have done that. Homeschooled him, and nobody would have ever seen him again, eventually. This male abuser, especially, surely would have killed the child, one day. He tells the boy he's a disappointment. No, this guy is a disappointment as a human being. Taking ALL his frustration and anger out on this one child. Why? Because he can. Because the boy's there, locked up, an easy target. This abuser is sadistic, and is enjoying verbally assaulting the child. He needs a shrink, not the child. The other family members are probably glad, because if that child isn't there, he's going to take it out on one of them, next.

According to the Mayo Clinic, here's the top 4 treatments for Reactive Attachment Disorder... let me know if you spot a box: 1. Encouraging the child's development by being nurturing, responsive and caring. 2. Providing consistent caregivers to encourage a stable attachment for the child. 3. Providing a positive, stimulating and interactive environment for the child. 4. Addressing the child's medical, safety and housing needs, as appropriate. It’s a very lonely and frustrating road with very little help. He had ADHD and probably RAD too. I feel for the parents because I’ve been in their shoes but this is not the answer to the problem. If he was violent, he should have been hospitalized and gotten more help instead of trying to do it this way. Wilderness and therapeutic boarding schools are another answer to keep other family members safe but very expensive and usually not covered by insurance.

They are wealthy parents who are able to build a custom made box in a garage, wealthy enough to adopt a child, wealthy enough to purchase two homes , with all this money instead of building a box to lock their adopted child in, they could have spent good money on a decent doctor to assist him with his issues. But for them it was much easier to lock him in a box so they didnt have to see him and deal with him. I think these parents adopted him because they thought that they could not have any more children, once the wife got pregnant again, then the adopted son became a problem for them regardless if he was good or bad, as now with a newborn on the way they have to spend money on three children. So keeping him in a box was more cost effective for them, he wasn't allowed to eat more food, use less electricity( not allowed to use air con which uses a lot of electricity, use up their time. And because he isn't their blood and didn't listen to them for even the smallest things, they chose to punish him by locking him in a box, and keep him there even when he didn't do anything wrong (out of sight, out of mind). These parents are abusers and to hear that boy say "that his parents made a mistake and that he doesn't have any bad feelings towards them because he was the bad one" in the court room and watching that father smile and looking so pleased is sick to watch. The father in that moment in his head was thinking "yes ! i look innocent now , and the boy i abused is agreeing with me, i will win this case" . And watching the mother shedding a tear, she is crying for herself, not because she abused the child and how she kept him in a box in the dark, in a room smelling of urine and faeces. These two parents are all woe is me, narcissistic. They are disgusting parents , they are child abusers.

@@deadmanswife3625 if the jury are filled with normal people, they will find that the father did abuse this child and caged this child on the First Degree. The mother will get the same . You can see that the judge already stated that the jury if they are normal minded will see that the child being locked in the room for hours on end in the darkness should be given the opportunity to decide if it is torture. Because in the 1800s prisoners were kept in solitary confinement in a small room as torture with no windows, in complete darkness for hours on end and forced to defecate /urinate on themselves, their bed, on the floor or if they were lucky enough to find the bucket in the darkness to relieve themselves, not to mention the smell , the disease and infection that could be caught and, psychological damage that was done to them, the prisoners also suffered blindness from being in the dark all the time. This boy was lucky not to go blind like the 1800 prisoners and was lucky he was rescued in time.
@JK-jj9ko
@JK-jj9ko 9 месяцев назад
Also another point to add, the father and mother definitely knew what they were doing was wrong, according to his dental friend who he coached sport for their daughters , that the adopted son was amongst visitors in the house when they came over. If the father and mother believed what they were doing was right by locking up the boy in the room because they were so afraid he would harm people or be naughty and break things all the time and not listen, then would have kept the boy locked in the room when visitors were around. But they didn't. The father would have told his friend that i have to keep my son locked in the room all the time because we are afraid, but he didn't do that either. Instead he told his friend his son doesn't play any sports. The father would have shown the friend the urine and poo in the room, but i am sure the father and mother cleaned up the box before the friend or visitors came to their house to view the box. They treated the boy the same way that asylum center in USA many years ago which was shut down for abuse of patients ,that when authorities came to audit the hospital, the doctors and nurses would hide all the severely ill, abused patients in the basement below, so autditors wouldnt close the facility down. The father did the reverse here, he let the boy out to show that there is nothing bad going on , that the boy isn't being locked up in a room all day for simply existing and when visitors left, the boy was locked in the room again. That is abuse and they weren't making a mistake, just like the doctors and nurses in the asylum hospital knew what they were doing.
