They been was doing this, years ago, but they had stopped. They use to do this on awards shows, an they had a show just to pays tribune to singers or singing groups while they were still alive. I miss those tribute shows.
@@NorthPhilly-zr7xc Maybe because she is up and coming...but it just doesn't make sense. She and her managers also should know when to say no. While she did great, IMO, and sung it in her beautiful voice...it should've been someone who could really hit the notes. I don't believe this hurt CoCo because she did deliver it her way...but it just wasn't for her.
And that’s how you know Mariah’s voice was a gift from the gods! Every performance was so beautiful and still nothing compared to the original. That version done with Mariah makes you cry every time you hear it. It was lovely nonetheless. 👏🏽
The gods?? How many gods??? Which one?? The god of voice??? The TRUTH is there’s only ONE GOD. I’m not hating, just passing on the TRUTH! Just my 2 cents👍🏽
And Mariah can't do a lauryn hill in her primes or a Jazmine sullivan pr a clark sisters or a Leandria Johnson. Stop with the madness. Everybody has their own instrument that other singers can't duplicate and don't you forget it.
They never disappionted me either there vocals are off the scales and when i lost my little sister a couple of years ago the first song that was played at her funeral was end of the road by boyz to men i was in buckets and she was the youngest of 7 she left 5 kids and 1 grandson behind im the 2nd youngest and I have a 40yr old son i only have him as my mum died 16yrs ago but i believe although we cant see them they're always around us
So much love for this of artist.. Thank you Patti,JHud,Boyz2Men &Coco and the Grio Awards for recognizing Mariah Carey and her works..its Magical Tribute 🎉🎉🎉
Her is not “still” developing . That’s her own tone , her own technique. She’s been singing that way since she was a little girl. Y’all always be thinking to be a singer everybody has to sing super high and that’s not true. From Anita to Toni , Brandy and Tamia or Mariah and Whitney. There’s a range of different tones for a reason .
This was a great performance. She did Mariah proud. Not many could.I see she gave her approval. I really enjoyed this.Bringing back great music with some new music is wonderful. RnB forever.
Thank you. As a people we’ve become so accustomed to criticism even where it’s not necessary. It’s a beautiful tribute & not a competition to replace Mariah. She took on the challenge with so much grace & passion. They all did a splendid job 🎉❤
sixteen weeks at number one on the hot 100 for over ten years Mariah and Boyz II Men held this record. special song, I love it so much! one of Mariah's best
No one in this world could touch mariah.. same like whitney, patti, celine the ol skool diva they know how to sing like DIVA.. the newest i think only kelly clarksob coz she getting older her voice getting better n better..
I'm sorry, but this was an unnecessary thing to say. It's a tribute to Mariah Carey, why are you trying to compare them instead of appreciating the performance itself? We all know that Mariah is a legendary vocalist and artist in general, I mean that's why they're doing a tribute for her, they were not there to compete with her.
I think this cover by filipino artists is as good if not better than the original : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-W1n-3e5tC24.htmlsi=U-Jud9LgQsDpAzuK
Just beautiful! Everyone saying it's not as good as hers, ya we know that. The entire world already knows that no one can do it like her. I was one of those girls growing up in the 90s who wanted to be just like her. It was gut wrenching to learn that even tho I'm a singer, I'll NEVER be her, or even close. Even singers who've been around can't compare. So let's understand that it's a tribute. It was beautiful and I'll watch it again.
@@alexations1why’d you just lie like that 💀 Mariah was not in no yt upper class neighbouhood…. She moved 13 times and had Sundays with her father in Harlem.
@@MARIAHMOMENTS moved 13 times all in white, upper class neighborhoods in Long Island, New York. Her high school, also predominantly white. Periodt. Raised by her white Irish mother.
Coco Jones!!! Amazing! I know it’s gotta be such an honor for such a “new artist” to be doing this tribute, especially when the one you’re singing for is sitting less than 10 feet in front of you! ❤
It's so insane too see how HUMBLE AND NICE Mariah Carey is, just appreciating the songs with such joy and love People shud respect more Mariah Carey, she is not only the Queen of Christmas, but the Queen of Music Love her a LOT 💖
A lot of y’all need to educate yourself on the variety of tones we have in the industry. Not everyone has the tone of Whitney or Mariah . It doesn’t make them any less qualifying to sing a song by them. Everyone’s tone is unique. If everyone sang alike , it would be boring as hell. You don’t focus on singing the sing the EXACT same way. You use your own tone and technique to sing it your way. This has always been coco’s tone from since she was a kid. Mariah loved it and her so that really all that matters since it was HER tribute. From Anita to Toni , Brandy or Tamia and etc. There’s a variety for a reason. Just like Patti sang the love takes time song as PATTI not Mariah . Jennifer sang vision of love as Jennifer not Mariah and they still did her justice. Even Joe did We belong together and sang the song as JOE . Karen Clark did Anytime you need a friend as Karen. The point is giving her the flowers she deserves. Why the hell would every single person go up there trying to sing like her or sound like her? Be fr. You don’t copy someone’s technique just to give a tribute. All of those people were selected to sing a song for her and were approved by HER. She knows good singers when she hears them. That’s why she always compliments the different skills they use to execute their art.
They don't have to sound like Mariah or have the same tone. However, they should have the vocal chops to handle the song. Coco wasn't horrible. She managed to pulled it off (in her own way), but I think there are other vocalists that could've carried the song better. Just my opinion.
As a fan of Mariah since a long time now and lamb4life... thank for this tribute, its a pleasure to see real singer with talent and power vocal tribute to Mariah❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤we all know boyz II men and we love them, thank you CoCo Jones beautiful and great voice very talented.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely beautiful! Mariah deserves to be honored! I know her music has soothed me , got me back on the right track and kept me dancing! encouraged me! She’s a blessing to my life through her music!
Boyz II Men were the stars of that performance! I still LOVE their voices. I’ve seen them in concert a few times & they are just as good now as they ever were. I like Coco’s voice, but it didn’t stand out much. You could barely hear her when she wasn’t singing solo. Probably could’ve gotten a stronger singer for this song. Maybe Coco would’ve done well on Butterfly or Honey or something like that.
I totally agree and I wish they would've brought @liamanisings with them for this tribute because she gives the song life and hangs in there with Wanya'. Just my opinion tho. 😊
Parabéns a todos da indústria mundial que agora sim fazem um tributo aos maiorias artistas do universo e os mesmos estando vivos. Chorei muito de emoção.
I love the fact that nobody of all the beautiful and marvelous tributes can reach MC's amazing voice. - The uniqueness of MC's voice is one & only. Simply beautiful ❤❤❤❤❤
Everybody has there own instrument. That's like giving Mariah a Jazmine sullivan song or Leandria Johnsons better days. She wouldn't be able to do it fully they way they do it. Don't be delusional.
Under someone's husband probably, but anyway... I just wasn't feeling this performance. They should have switched it up since folks weren't feeling well. Bless.
i thought her voice were "too soft" and she's "too polite" singing this song, for not making a "breakthrough version" of her own, just like ms. hudson or ms. labelle did... but yeah, actually she could reach all those notes...
also is it me or was the band too loud? it made jen sound like she was competing at some point and coco sound too soft or just not loud enough when actually it wasn’t a bad rendition imo for how young she is in her career as a vocalist (relative to the legends she sang with and for here) and how different her tone is from mariah’s. naturally she’s not gonna give what mariah did because of that and mariah’s tone being unique itself but she exceeded my expectations as far as making it her own despite that and the nerves she had to be feeling. it’s just the band for me… played well but way too loud
CoCo Jones can sing. I have heard her sing live. First, the mics are turned down. Second, it also appears she is singing softer than she usually sings on top of the mic being turned down. Lastly, Boys 2 Men did not sound that great to me. I also have heard them sing live numerous times when they had the fourth group member (cannot remember his name right now).
She wasn't bad but she wasn't *Good. The best description of her vocal ability sounds like 'ghetto missing pain and truimph without precise sharp key fluctuations as strategic speech impediment has successfully muffled her treble'. Boyz II Men does Great as always.
I love that she didnt try to sing it like Mariah, and did it her way with the voice that she has. The note change at 3:10 was genius! (I think Mariah liked it too from her smile and hand gesture following it)
They should have had the young girl that they brought on stage at one of their concerts to sing Mariah’s part. That girl did amazing singing Mariah’s part
