I think this palette targets more ig or tiktok creators (with colourful looks and packing colour instead of blending) than every day makeup wearers. I really love the colour story, but as I see from your review, the quality is exactly what I thought it would be.

Honestly, when I originally saw it, the color story tugged at my heart strings, but I was unfamiliar with the formula having only heard about it and never used it myself. So thanks for the brilliant review- you saved me spending money and then the emotional whiplash of getting excited, but then ultimately being disappointed.

I bought this an I find if I work from dark to light I have no problems looks are very pretty and last all day and very impactful and it works best with a moisturizing primer. Or I moisturize really well then use concealer as a primer. I've had no issues. I totally respect her opinion. An I've been a makeup artist and cosmetologist for 15 years so I'm not just running my mouth. So I recommend it if you don't mind working dark to light. But I always love her reviews even if I disagree here or there. We tend to agree a lot but not on this one.

Love your reviews!!! I know it takes so much work to do these and super appreciative how practical the discussion is. I recently also bought a giant palette (Nyx utopia) despite not liking big ones and I sort of had a similar experience. Beautiful, inspiring looking, but I’m getting just a couple unique looks. I wonder what it is- decision fatigue? are we just more creative when we have more limits lol?

Thanks for breaking down the color stories in this palette. I tend to get overwhelmed with larger palettes but I can see the appeal for someone who needs a one stop shop. I really wish I could cut the a third off of the palette and just have the rose/ neutral tones with the green on the right side. I don’t reach for those orange, red tones so I would’ve been happier with it more condensed. This one caught my eye, I bought her last palette but I literally haven’t used it so I can justify another one right now lol

You did a great public service with this review, Kat! I think a lot of us were incredibly tempted by the color story. I did break down and order the liquid shadows in red and orange and did not like them. Same thing with the pallet- beautiful in the container but disappointing in application 😕

If I picked new palettes solely based on swatches, I’d choose this after watching you. In reality, I don’t, but after this vid, I would recommend this to a “new to makeup” person to play with as a first timer. This palette looks like it could be fun to play with while learning technique!

Damn, that’s a lot of shades. I could tell just by the swatches that this is a pallet I would not super enjoy. I think I’ve been swatching my own stuff for so many years now that I get a really good feeling just from swatches. I do think two of the color schemes are very beautiful, but the formula seems underwhelming. Which is great, because the last thing I need is a new pallet! This series of yours is one of my favorites, I know it must be a ton of work so I want to say thank you for keeping them up.

Used to have two BPerfect Carnival palettes but I found it really hard to use. If you like contrast looks it works good but if you want nice smoky gradient …. it doesnt work at all.

I confess I was surprised when you first described the mattes as wet feeling as everyone says this is the same formula as in the Love Tahiti palette (they definitely swatch the same way) and they are very dry and gritty. I also find with them that they aren't as vibrant on the eye as they appear in the pan.

I meant more that they aren’t powdery, they feel like they have a lot of binder in them that keeps them firm in the pan. That doesn’t stop them from being gritty and dry when applied though. It’s hard describing powder texture haha!

Well that was a bit of a disappointment eh. Missed opportunity for Be Perfect - I certainly would have paid that hefty price tag if the mattes were any good. Oh well. I’ll console myself with the new Odens Eye collabs 🥳. Thanks for all your effort and work trying these out and sharing your results and thoughts. It’s a real help. ❤️

I would prefer less shades that can blend together to create new shades. This palette's shade range seems so redundant since the colours they put in mix together to make other shades they included in the palette. The shimmers look really pretty though!

I wish brands would sell smaller products. If a brand came out with half the size of blushes for bit cheaper, ( yes some brands have minis but only a few color options) I would buy more then 1 shade. When it will take me 30 years to use a few blushes. It stops me from purchasing more options. Same with eyeshadow pallets. If that was half the size for $15 less I would feel like I got my money’s worth because the shades I really liked I would be able to actually use them.

I have no interest in this brand. It’s just another Makeup Revolution or Morphe brand that have a ton of shadows with subpar quality . I appreciate putting thought into how they laid the shadows but the quality isn’t good enough for me to go out of my way to get

I would not say this is like makeup revolution or morphe at all. I have the whole carnival range and if you pack them on and then blend them then they are vibrant and bold. I have had a looot more problems with revolution and morphe so no I would not dare put them in the same tier xD.

@@KitschSnitch not advertising, I just like watching your reviews, but prefer simple customisable makeup where you can buy exactly what you need, use it up and re-purchase without all the packaging. Salt does cheek stuff and I’m keen to see someone review it with oily skin like myself. Purchasing just the pans is type of product I’m after but I’ve never been into cream products due to my oily skins

@@Qweennothing Sorry for the accusation. I have just seen a lot of people in my time trying to suggest I review brands and when I look further they are staff members from the brand. That brand doesn't ship to Australia so I don't have access to it, but also it's not really my thing. I have a lot of custom palettes that I have made over the years from brands like Inglot and Make Up For Ever, and I rarely reach for them. Thank you for the suggestion though, and apologies again for the insinuation. I hope you can find some good reviews online xo

You saved me some money. I was really interested in how the green side worked because that caught my eye. But listening to your review about the formula, etc. I think I can skip it. I wish ND would come up with a Swamp Monster green palette. The yellow/corals looked like the ND Sunset palette, the neutrals I'm pretty sure I have doppelgängers in my collection...it was just those greens...

Give Me Glow Juicy Olive is a wonderful little green palette. Also Sydney Grace also hase lots of wonderful green singles. I also bought this palette and didn't have the same problems as Kat. The swampy greens played well for me.

melt gemini seems to be the OG of olivey green shadow, and if you can stomach the price it's a pretty good palette... if you like simple/one and done kinds of shadow looks. it doesn't lend itself well to precise blending because the colors can look basically identical on the eye. kaleidos sell their scifi green palette (which kat also has a review on it, as well as comparisons to gemini) and i find it's less redundant than gemini but is also more muted in general. just this week glamlite revealed a dirty martini palette which seems to be a nice 15 pan option, but i've never tried their shadows and it doesn't offer a matte black. givemeglow cosmetics also sell their juicy olive 6-pan palette, but i also haven't tried their brand 🙈 otherwise, i don't know of many other predominately olive green palettes 😩

I find with their formula, they work best with the PLouise eyeshadow base. It isn’t “amazing quality” but it’s great with a grip base and something that can give it its best shot. Also, I found that if you use a natural brush, I find it works much better than if you were to use a synthetic hair. Something about the synthetic hair glides off too quickly and doesn’t give them their full potential. I dunno if it’s the dyes or what? But that’s just my two cents. Thanks for the play. I enjoyed this.

I used my Carnival III with a Sigma base this morning and it worked beautifully. Which was different from the first time I used it, no primer. So, I think you’re right; I think they work a lot better with a base. 🤷‍♀️

ITA about pan/palette size, and formula variation. These huge palettes put me off in general as well -- although admittedly this was VERY tempting. W/ that said, there's several relatively similar shades, that needn't be in this, IMHO. Also think this could be used in quads, if going simpler. I actually really like this type jumbled layout, for stated reasons. But this reminds me a great deal about Morphe x JH's vault too. Well at least 3 of the palettes; Ring the Alarm, Bling Boss and Armed & Gorgeous. Owning the 2 first plus Bling Boss (refrained from A&G) in conjunction w/ rather poor performance, judging from your review, I probably will pass after all. Great, in-depth rundown, extra points for the very pedagogical swatching.

@@KitschSnitch that's very true. and the green they have is kind of a greyish green. Thanks for being my one-stop source for practical beauty-shopping recommendations. I swooned over this palette but was deterred by the size of it. I also really don't like the packaging design for BPerfect even though I've enjoyed some of their past palettes. But your very practical breakdown of the performance of the formula was what pushed me over to firmly not wanting this palette. I should just build my own smaller curated palette with singles... especially from formulas i know work super well like the Give Me Glow Juicy Olive, Natasha Denona Sunset and Sydney Grace Summer Days palette and the Mountain Trail bundle... off the top of my head.

You can definitely wear them on their own as a cream shadow. They come in a large variety of colours, not just skin tones.

My experience: Overall I'm happy with the quality, didn't once experienced patchyness. But some shades are pressed too firmly, like some of the yellows, those burgundy shades, this Dusty shade. That is the most disappointing thing in his palette for me. Also There is too much gold shadows for me, they are unnecessary. Also I wish there was a company shade for this military green and the shade named Dusty.

(posting this right after the swatch section) I actually quite enjoy the palette, though I admittedly go for bolder colour looks (think Angie and Theresa is dead). I will say, these palettes do NOT swatch well and that's coming straight from the mouth of their creator. Also SM has a very particular makeup style and these definitely cater to it rather than a wider makeup wearing audience.

This palette is shlte and thank you for being honest. So sick of bias reviews. The quality is terrible. The fall out is a joke. The shadows swatch like crap and are patchy. Also why isn’t anyone mentioning the longevity of the shadows. No matter what base you use they fade away so quickly. Absolute crap and a total waste of money. I wish I skipped it.

I do definitely agree that these are over hyped, but I do mention in my video that they wear well on me with a few different primers. Often it comes down to your body chemistry, but a good formula should work on most people... and this not a good formula

The previous palette had "good" mattes and bad shimmers according to people who reviewed it.Looks like it's a case of " it ain't broke don't fix it"? I can't imagine how hard it is to do a good green matte since pretty much everyone is coming up with green palettes these days. It's too big either way.

Unpopular opinion: I got the carnival 3 and I do not like it. It creases on me like crazy! So, even though I really like the color story on this palette, I'm very hesitant to get it...

I really have no clue how you did such awful eyelook. Sorry to be straight. But even I not being perfect and not being a pro create with exact this palette so adorable and much better looks that lasted 12 hours and longer.

I have never claimed to be a pro either, I am just a makeup user. Sorry if you were offended by the way I like to do my makeup or how I feel about this palette, but it's a disappointment! FYI all eyeshadow should last 12 hours or longer... thats barely a benchmark to brag about
