BQEYZ has yet again brought a new approach to sound reproduction....well to be fair , new to them as a company.
BQEYZ is known for being one of the few brands left that follows it's philosophy in terms of company objectives and sound profile.
It's a brand that has always made a difference, introducing great items such as the KC2 or the BQ3.
But it's single DDs that we are talking about here and the Cloud ( Weather Series ) is the next in line of great IEMs that started with the Autumn.
The Autumn was centered around a 13mm driver , that had it's bass controlled by exchangeable filters , which by changing the air permeability inside the shell, adjusted bass output.
It's an easy to listen IEM , with an organic sound which makes it very old school in its presentation, but does fall behind slightly on the technical abilities, it's all about being intimate and musical, ( Bass Filter).
It was followed by the Winter ( Season Series ) which had two kinds of drivers inside: a special 11.6mm PZT bone conduction driver and 12mm Dual cavity PAR dynamic driver.
The dynamic driver took care of the whole frequency, whereas the PZT driver enhanced the treble region.
The sound was clear , with " sharp " mids, detailed and smooth highs, all backed up by a quick and responsive Bass.
It's an engaging presentation that has hints of the Autumn but improves on the technical side of things.
Then late last year the Wind made it's debut and once again a new approach, this time around the formula was a proprietary 10mm dynamic and 10mm coil bone conduction driver.
It's a "warmish-neutral" tuning that will be suited to almost all types of music genres.
Balanced and punchy bass response, that is aided by the Bone conduction driver, giving a distinctive ambience and resonance.
Vocals have amazing texture, with instruments being very natural and tonaly correct.
Technically very capable, I would say the Wind is the Best of both worlds, Autumn and Winter.
Finally the Cloud, and this time they took a 10mm dynamic driver and married a 6.8mm " passive " driver with it.
It's job is to control internal resonances of the driver / shell combination, control driver flex and give a little extra texture to the lower frequencies, which can be at times a little thin sounding.
It's very noticeable that the focus on the Cloud is the mids, vocals are some of the cleanest at its price, with the technical aspect of the sound profile being where it shines.
It's probably the most demanding of the aforementioned BQEYZ IEMs, but how so you may ask.
Well although the shell is a beautiful CNC machined affair, the short noozle length can present a problem in terms of fit, so care must be taken in tip selection.
Also the dongle / Amp& DAC used should perhaps be a little warmer, so that we brake the occasional overly cold ,clinical presentation and help bring a little musicality to the presentation.
Overall the Cloud has a specific crowd for which it's focused, it's for those that prefer the technically proficient sound over the more organic musical coloured sound we get on the Autumn.
