Hi - How nice to see you back again, though the circumstances could be better. That steam oil is like molasses. But likely gets fairly thin which at temperature. What a simple pump. there must be a little check valve to prevent back-slow. Nice job. I would bet a pint you feel pretty good about it. Looks nice sitting up there in its saddle. Brilliant work as always. Well, you'll have plenty of time to work on the project. We'll all be anxious to see the progress, more so to see it run!!!. Be careful that you and the Mrs. stay well, stay safe. let's all get through this with our friends and neighbors. Many thanks for your posts over the years. including your vertical boiler project.

Cheers Robert. Yes there is a spring/ball check valve. No Need to bet a pint - I've drunk it already! Keep safe and all the best.

@@no23mk2 Thanks for pointing that out! I am still getting used to this in my old age! Anyway, I will be casting various parts this week given the spare time I now have. I would be happy to help your project by supplying some free castings for you if there is anything you require let me know. Bronze is my preferred material but I can do, brass, iron, aluminium etc.

There a nice job. I remade my own last summer. Your tanks look nice and big. Mine are a bit on the small side and I have to refill every 3 or 4 laps at the track. Keep up the good work.

I'm glad they came out so well!! Maybe mine will work even better on steam oil then as I also tested mine on 10-40W Couple of questions, is there any adjustment for the amount of oil delivered and how are you keeping your steel brightwork from going dull and rusty?
@no23mk2
@no23mk2 4 года назад
Cheers John, Pretty sure yours will be fine on steam oil. There is no provision oil delivery adjustment on the loco design. If it needs any I'll install in line valve. Alternatively maybe a different sized crank? As to the bright steel work I don't do anything. The garage is well insulated and double glazed. Never had any condensation even in sub zero temperatures.

On the real 9f they had me turn the lubricator 100 times each side to prepare for running after being sat .

I tested one of these little lubricators to 300psi which was the limit of the pressure gauge. Im sure it would have gone higher.

@@no23mk2The lubricators I have made are the LBSC reciprocating design. Yours, I believe are the fixed cylinder type which are better. Lovely model your building, better man than I Gunga Din.
