BRITISH RAILWAYS IN THE 1990's
Mossend Railway Yard (Motherwell) on 7th May 1991
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of Mossend Railway Yard taken on 07/05/1991. A favourite location of mine is to the south of the yard along with many other enthusiasts at that time, where you could once stand (or sit) unchallenged (as long as you were respectful of your surroundings) and watch the coming and goings of this very busy yard. Plentiful amounts of traction in the ways of classes could be witnessed in such a short period of time. Best to visit in the early evening as the sun was in the West and traffic noise was low. I see that this location is now out of bounds as are so many of the popular sites that could be visited in the 1980s and 1990s. I revisited this yard several more times as it progressively changed over the next decade and into the 2000s. Sit back and I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories.
