I had Faxon's group at the Open when working as a spotter for ABC TV when Ben Curtis won at the British Open at St Georges, the wind was blowing a gale and the players were having problems keeping it together especially on the green where they were being blown around. Faxon handled the adverse conditions without complaining better than all the other players. On the green he was calm and you could see he never had any doubt in what he was doing, the wind was blowing so hard he had to not only judge the green but how the wind would affect it, he did this better than anyone. He is a great putter and I feel a lot of this is also down to his attitude, you got the sense he could see the path of the putt better than anyone and there was never any doubt in his mind.
As someone who bowled professionally for a living for a time, this video really hit home with me. Specifically about the 'flow' and the challenge of making an athletic movement that initiates ball movement. (pitcher, tennis serve, free throw, putt, bowling delivery). Love this video. I also might give up a kidney to win a Scottie Cameron Putter (I would give to my competitive junior golfer). I am not overly tech savvy so I am not sure how to be in the sweepstakes. Love sharing your content with my son. Thanks for the great stuff!
Love this josh. Working with the best of the best. Can’t wait to see what the future has in store for the channel. Keep up the good work as myself and many viewers learn something new and helpful from each video👊🏼👊🏼
Great video about flow. For me, I feel that a small amount of subtle movements in my feets, hands, and arms allows me to be more relaxed and allow the putter head to release towards my target versus if I was stiff or rigid I might pull or push the ball worst case hit it fat. It was awesome listening to one of the all time greats in putting and what his methodology is when it comes to being a better putter.
My putting lately has been very mediocre. Faxon’s advice regarding less mechanical and more flowing athleticism helped me today putt better and enjoy it more.
