IWC Big Pilot “Le Petite Prince” perpetual calendar chronograph has the most beautiful blue dial for less than $35K on the secondary market. Gorgeous dress watch for the money.

A few brands to add to IWC in terms of great complications for the $30,000 and under mark....JLC and Glashütte Original. Lots of value to be had there.

FWIW re: complications in the price range of the IWC Perpetual Cal, I am in that market. I also have a ‘22 Pepsi and a number of other pieces (all at AD retail or below). My first big piece (as I call it) is going the IWC Top Gun Perpetual Cal Mohave Desert edition (which I ordered from my AD in July of 22 and should be here in June of 23). I think the IWC Perpetual Cal with its single crown operation is a masterpiece of design. Add in the Mojave colorway with the muted sand color of the ceramic (top gun ed) and the whole thing is fire. Yes I’m losing money right off the bat but I don’t sell my watches and if I did I would still be up in my collection overall.

The Mark XX is a significantly different & better watch than the Mk18… that’s why it’s so great. The Mk20 is full of small but excellent incremental changes that make it wear and run amazing. And the 5 day power reserve is incredible 🙌🏻

I think this is why trying and handling a watch is so important before commenting. The 222 is the best watch I have handled IRL, the bracelet is sublime and it stands up in its own right. So weird that watch experts miss this huge part of the experience before commenting.

To answer your question about Blancpain - the Fifty Fathoms has an annual calendar moonphase for 16k EUR on a strap or 20k in Titanium, on bracelet. Not that a diver complication is my thing, but it's probably unbeatable for the price.

Personally, the 222 is my favourite watch, the shape and design is killer paired with the thinness and the subtle details that throws it above the PRX as a design language competitor. One day I am going to get a 222, used of course, over other watches in its category like the Royal oak etc. because the sharp edges/ lines/build of the 222 are just so much more drawing on the wrist

I think the VC is simply superb, I would have the VC over the PP every day of the week. But great discussion and as I always I like hearing your views. Have you guys actually worn the 222, it is the best wearing watch I have ever owned. Much rarer than PP. And I would be happier if the watch stays under the radar, and is not hyped by social media etc.

There are less than 70 222's, the value will rise. This will be a very limited piece. I agree, though, I have the ultra-thin Perpetual, and I love that piece; my 222 will be here next week. IWC is a great watch, they make unique pieces, and they are vastly underrated; they are on the rise, and I could see them becoming one of the best sought-after watches; I think there are some really cool pieces coming in the next month they will announce that will be even more highly in demand.

When I first saw the 222 it really grabbed my attention without even knowing about brad pit having one I find it striking with its 70s straight lines and the way the watch and bracelet integrate together and that bracelet is a masterpiece I find the natalus quite boring and would have the 222 over it anyday

The vc. Was retailing for about 65k to 70k. Now double .. still has great character and it's own identity kinda ..I like the v.c. more then the a.p. but that's just me . The blue air-king 369 34mm is too small for me....hope Rolex can make a 41mm or at least a 39mm. Rolex tool watches should not be smaller than 39mm , they need to be seen (Dial)!
