Braemar Gathering 2017 - Highland Dancing competitions showing the Hullachan and Irish Jig 

Having been a competitive Irish dancer for many years, it's so interesting to see the differences (besides the obvious use of arms and strict straight knees). Irish involves more of very quick, fancy footwork and swift leaps, whereas highland focuses on powerful leg control and long-drawn out jumps. Both are unique and beautiful, and I wish I had taken more than just a couple introductory highland lessons back when I was still dancing!

My daughter used to do an amazing Irish Jig. I really enjoyed this vid.

Thus is not a jig it is a Strathspey and Reel. Sorry for my spelling. The second dance is an Irish Jig. I am afraid the footwork and stamina need more training. Ballet girls works wonders for ones core.
