I disagree! Tempo is spot on, and he's careful to balance and not overpower the violin, but makes the piano an equal presence as is required in a CONCERTO! I suspect your "rash and fast" comment is related to Brahms's use of sycopation so that it might feel "disconnected" to an unaccustomed ear. I suggest you listen to more Brahms! I just wish Zhang and Phillips would do the whole concerto, not just the 3rd movement!
