Brain training, nervous system work, somatic practices are all wonderful but they won’t work if you “rush” through. This is a lifestyle change. This is a new way of being. A letting go of the old self. Bringing safety to your system … daily… for the rest of your life. And why wouldn’t we want that? It’s a beautiful investment in ourselves ❤

Needed to hear this today. It feels like a curse most days but the amount of personal growth and mental strength I’ve gained in such a short amount of time (1 yr and 4 months) it is an investment in yourself and the payout lasts the rest of your life. Blessed not cursed.

Brain retraining doesn’t mean it has to be a program or something fancy. Slowing down, yoga nidra and all the things she talked about ARE brain retraining. We’re brain retraining all day long. It just means where we’re putting our focus and how we approach life and becoming aware of our patterns and how what we need in the moment ❤

Nice to see a recovery story that didn’t involve anything but time really. When people say it was only some complex brain retraining etc it puts so much pressure on people. I think most people recover with just time. But claim it was something they did when they were recovering anyway.

Ha, I was given antidepressants in the beginning too, when no doctor could figure out what my problem was. I wanted to try everything, even though I felt really very sick physically, and I even agreed to see a psychologist. When that didn't work and I was found somewhere unconscious on the floor, my doctor sent me to the hospital with a letter to that specialist, in which she didn't mention any of my physical symptoms like pain, fatigue and even fever, but only 'is seeing a psychologist, is on antidepressiva'. Not surprisingly, the specialist advised me to move on to a psychiatrist instead. I ended up with no help whatsoever, house- and mostly bedbound for years, improving a little but still very limited. It has been twenty four years now, and this channel gives me so much hope that there is a future for me! Because finally, I find out there are tools to work with, so I am working on it, to put together a set that will help me to get my life back. What a day that will be...

It seems to be long COVID is spawning lots of health coach businesses. I suppose where medicine fails, experience-based experts step in. What I have observed is that most people seem to heal sonewhere between 12-24 months. This disease needs rest… my cardiologist couldn’t work for 2 years but fully recovered in 2 1/2. What will work is individual and contextual. Many factors in play. The order of treatment (layering), who is treating, what tools are used, frequency and dosing. If you tried a treatment modality it may or may not work depending on when, why and how it was implemented and by whom. Many can say "I tried it and it didn't work", or the opposite. But what did they try? There are many ways of brain training for example, and brain training adress one aspect of an illness for people, shutting down the chronic fight or flight. But if the underlying triggers are still there for example a chronic infection, mold toxicity or stressful relationships as examples, brain training ofc is not going to "solve" everything. ME/CFS is just a label, like any other type of diagnosis it does not reflect the individual. 10 people with ME/CFS may all have separate root causes. That is why brain training work for some, and treating infections work for others, or just adressing nutrition works for some others. All is ok. Take care!

Really helpful video. I'm mostly bedridden right now due to a heavy year, circumstantial. But I'm so sure I can get so much better. All the things I've dipped into over many many years have come to the fore and I believe in them, like yoga nidra, breathwork, all sorts of stuff. But like this lady said, it's counter productive to have a checklist or to overanalyze anything, or get frustrated. I'm meeting myself where I'm at with compassion and humour and gratitude for what I can do each day. Good luck and prayers for everyone recovering.

Helpful video. I have been improving with the things she mentioned helped her and I do also implement things learned from brain retraining programs but the fixing intention and urgency are counter productive, I find they’re most effective with lots of self compassion and acceptance, slowness etc. Anything that brings the nervous system to equilibrium and signals safety to the brain.

I already had a good diet, it’s not perfect, but I need some joy from somewhere and these are the things I have committed to do daily. I’m probs 3 weeks into that commitment. Infrared light therapy Supplement regime, newly added in NAC Lymphatic drainage massage 5 mins meditation Have the window open for most of the day I’ve recently added a very simple brain training ‘thing’ after watching R’s video, whereby I centre myself for a few breaths and then visualise any pain or discomfort getting smaller/slower/ less loud. I’ve included physical, emotional and cognitive energy in the pacing and have found watching Murder She Wrote takes less energy than lying in bed, trying not to think. Hopefully some of these tips will help others x .

Nervous system and gut completely messed up, tachycardia, endurance and recovery massively compromised. 6-7 months later I got diverticulitis, in hindsight it occurred soon after the covid incident. Then a few months later I got some other bug, maybe covid again, idk. Things weren't looking up to put it mildly. But ivermectin did work for me, night and day difference, it put me on the road to recovery. I'm feeling pretty good now but about 2 months ago I tore a rotator cuff and had shoulder surgery so I have no idea what my endurance and recovery after a hard effort are looking like. I also got tinnitus and am trying 3-day water fasts to help. I've only done one so far but it did have an effect on tinnitus.
