That's his genius showing. He doesn't have to TELL you the problems with what people are saying, he just has strategically ask questions that prompt them to SHOW you the problems. And it all relies on the listener to be a critical enough thinker to be able to come to a reasonable conclusion about the validity of what they just heard.
"what do you do with your money? How do you like to spend it?" "I don't spend it. It's easier to get money and just sit on it and let it acrue." -Ariel Pink after defending trickle down economics.
@@xdef1ne so first he defended trickle down economics. Basically that’s the idea that if we give tax cuts to rich people and big companies they’ll use that saved money to create more businesses and hire more people. Hence the money will “trickle” down. (Most economists these days don’t believe in this idea anymore but it was popular under president Reagan) Then when asked what Ariel does with his money he says he just lets it sit to accrue. We’re assuming he means in a savings account to accrue interest. So he’s not spending his money. Not letting it “trickle” down yet believes when we give tax cuts money will “trickle” down. Hope that explains.
@@HauntedHarmonics He used to say some shit some years ago too but I guess it could be just acting and being provocative, although I'm not sure. To me it looks like the drugs and his father's losing part of his wealth made him get a little crazy.
Dude I have had people I used to be really close with like this but this trait takes its toll after a while. It's like they disagree with you even when they know you're correct because they dont want you to be correct. Its hella toxic
@@sybo59 we live in a post scarcity world. There is enough food, housing, and resources to sustain everyone, but we let people starve because we've artificially created conditions like this so rich people can play golf and own yachts while others work 60 hour work weeks for minimum wage. Work doesn't = wealth, and the ultra rich live that way at the expense of others. We work till we die so they don't have to.
Hope the fuck runs out of money so he knows what it's like to be poor. Hope he has a great skill set for the job market if he can't play music anymore from getting canceled.
@@mw7845 he kept dancing the line between qanon & what he thinks an average millenial is like. He doesn't even seem to know what he believes. I mean he could've just been nervous but id say he hasn't been asked this many questions about his beliefs. He sounds like he's just quoting his dad & parler. The last part about him saying Kamala & Biden are anti-authoritarian...while they're very authoritarian...but he likes Trump because he's anti establishmenttt....sounds like his brain is desperately trying to create folds that never formed in the womb.
I think what he was saying is America has been a country which lets someone start a company and grow and with the erosion of small businesses well it makes the growth a lot harder. I don't think he is pro/anti amazon google but was using it to illustrate how the economy incentivizes people to work harder. Like Jeff Bezos drove a crappy piece of junk car and had a cardboard Amazon sign in his office where he sold books for years before he became the richest dude. Empires rise and fall.
Kind of true though. He can be over ruled on just about anything by the house and senate. They're the ones who really have the power to make sweeping policy changes.
@@infowazz I mean fuck the republicans as well if you want to talk about sellouts check out opensecrets.org and search literally any republican and you'll find out how much money they get from large corporations usually fossil fuels companies and banks but yea the Democrats are the only ones who've sold out sure bud...
@@ironandzinc so you’re happy to pay taxes when it’s a corporation pooling your resources to provide healthcare to everyone in your network? You understand what taxes are, don’t you?
@@ironandzinc yes because I don’t have to fund the coke and prostitute habit of a shady insurance CEO 😂 Nor his million-dollar bonuses or his million-dollar salary. If you want to fund the drug habits of a bunch of Business Admin graduates, that’s your choice. The rest of us are actually trying to achieve non-exploitative healthcare here
Pink sounds like the guy who has taken to many shrooms at the party but really wants to still get his point across even though only he would understand it anyways
and then you humor him for a little while just to see where it goes & then he ends up sending you 10 hour text-to-speech videos for the next 5 years on FB messenger
@@von... When you're not looking at the guy you hear a loud crashing noise, the host of the party has punched mushroom man in the mouth for being a complete fanny, he will spend the next decade claiming "he doesn't know what happened" but all other accounts will say he was dancing around asking "what are you gonna do" to the guy who's house he was in at the time... We all know one.
you know that politics in this country is fucked when he was asked to list his favorite thing about trump and the best he could do was "he's.... he's my hero.... he doesn't give up..." lmao
Ariel sounds like he’s just afraid of losing his family’s savings so he would have to work an ordinary job to support his drug addiction. Edit: changed “real job” to “ordinary job”
@@turbolover-nh4vf Not questioning his ability to make music, but hard to market yourself as an underground indie artist when you inherited your fathers multi million dollar estate.
Lol, yeah being a musician for a living must be sooo unfulfilling and miserable that's why nobody wants to do it. Get a load of this self congratulatory spiritual patriot brigade.
My art teacher in high school claimed that she was neighbors with ariel pink in LA when she was in college and that he was "a really really weird guy" but would never elaborate
I've hung out with a lot of people who did drugs. This dude is either on drugs or has taken so many drugs that he's fried. He's also very defensive of any sort of conflicting opinion. He even grits his teeth after questions. I can't imagine he thought this interview was a good idea.
I immediately drew a clear connection to drugs based off his mannerisms and cadence that I had no doubt in. Shit that you just know off instinct if you've spent enough time around drugs and addicts. I know very little about him and his music past a basic awareness of his name and sound. Just was just never my thing, but I do know that you don't get that man in that interview without a history of drug abuse (almost positively stimulants).
Anyone that goes down the Trump rabbit hole ends up going off the rocker. Any time there opinion is challenged in any form they completely break down. It is quite literally like a cult at this point. They will ruthlessly defend there leader and nonsensical beliefs, even if it kills them. It's sad too because that's not even an exaggeration.
If only.. dude's parents are multi millionaires and his sister sells houses to the big fish in LA. He's playing victim like all chuds do after being held accountable for the stupid shit they say.
“I can’t tour either at this point. So it pretty much leaves me destitute and on the street. I’m sort of overwhelmed right now, and I don’t know exactly what to do.” Just go get that money fam. What are you waiting for?
There are actually some really dope Ariel Pink albums but to see him so tweaked, saying insane things like “There was no indie rock scene in LA in the 90s”, just going IN worshipping the current system as a dude who was born to really wealthy parents, all of it just makes me sad and confused. Andrew is still the GOAT interviewer
He really does have some great albums, I'm so freaking bummed learning that he's like this. I had no idea what he was like as a person before but I kinda assumed he was the opposite of this. Ugh
For sure. Often if you just keep your mouth shut and ears open, ask some open ended questions in a non-biased way, people will just keep going. Great approach to take with any guest really
In ten years from now people that treated Ariel like crap for not following the mainstream news/corrupted politicians /pharmaceutical coporation's narrative will go back to ariel to say sorry for having the courage to speak his mind .
The decision for Mexican Summer to drop Ariel from the label initially felt questionable. After seeing this interview, I cannot defend Ariel; he's seriously gone off the deep end. I hope he gets help.
They were already considering dropping him prior surrounding allegations from an ex-girlfriend/bandmate. BUT before anyone replies her claims weren’t credible, that doesn’t have to do with why Mexican Summer was considering letting him go. He filed a restraining order against the woman afterwards and it was thrown out immediately by a judge because it was filed in bad-faith and was an abuse of the civil court system. In California, they slap by ordering the accusing party to pay for the other party’s legal fees. So, if for any reason he “can’t afford his lawyers” like he said (lied) to Tucker Carlson on Fox, it entirely had to do with events way prior to the Trump event in D.C. He also said (lied) to Carlson that he was called by his label and they assured him they wouldn’t drop him when he was first in D.C. and the public frenzy towards him started. Then, he says he got informed over text they were dropping him on the day of the capitol take-over. Like I said, he was already on thin ice with them after he responded to the abuse claims by trying to get an unfounded restraining order, so I highly doubt they said anything resembling support for him while he was in D.C. Also, he frequently went on controversial twitter rants before this, some centered around Trump and things he says here. Honestly, wtf did he expect from Mexican Summer? Wow, how unfair of them.
@user-gn1ef8qd2i I think the question is what did Mexican Summer expect from him. Ariel has always been provocative and crass in interviews. Like you said, he'd openly supported Trump for years. Mexican Summer knew this when they signed him
Whoever is editing these videos is a king. Andrew is able to remain unbiased and objective in all of these interviews and yet we the audience ALWAYS know what’s going through his head from the cuts and close-ups, absolutely ace.
@@zz-jones no, read any of rhe things hes said in interviews. solidly a leftist. wanting to be an audience to the spectacle doesnt make him suddenly not leftist
Does he realize that “Manufactured Consent”, a term which he uses to criticize progressives, is a term and book written by one of the most famous socialists/leftists of all time, Noam Chomsky?
Progressive does not equal leftists. There’s a whole spectrum of thought and right now 95% of our idiot population is extremist on one side or the other. If you brought a “progressive” from back then like JFK or even Noam Chomsky they’d probably be called a nazi today. MLK would probably have a rape charge against him because he was a player back then and fucked around a lot.
@Adam Edward Oh, to be an intellectual like you. I only know one Sigmund Freud quote, and it goes something like this: “if you’re mentally ill, then you are not psychologist, and the more not mentally ill you are, the more psychologist you are”. Such unparalleled genius. Thank you for your wonderful insight, Robert.
Ok. But also: source? Most politicians are trust fund kids. Most democrat politicians were born into the 1 percent and are in bed with corporations in order to stay there. Most famous activists were born rich. TalibKweli's parents are college professors. Are you working class? I am. I hate conservatives but I hate liberals more.

all girls had crushes on ariel back in da day. my ex tried to kiss him when we saw him live and i went to the bar to get another beer. i told her latley about his new politics and she said "oh it figures". girls are weird.
My guy literally said - "Look at Immigrants, they come here and...do stuff" as a counter-argument against someone questioning his nonsense. Amazing. This is content...great guest Andrew and crew.
The more I watch this, the more I think that Ariel was alienated from his community and he became bitter and now he's trying to take that out on other people. He's trying very hard to justify his thoughts but they come from a very emotional place. He won't even tell you where he grew up because he knows it invalidates his argument regarding inheritance. This dude needs a hug and some therapy.
I agree. I still respect him for all that he has done as an artist, but he is clearly going off the deep end mentally. I feel like he’d get more respect if he went and got some help, instead of rambling incoherently in these interviews.
This is the comment I agree with most. He’s extremely defensive here when the interviewer is hardly pressing him, the interviewer is honestly being really kind, but Ariel is clearly heated and very emotional. Def needs therapy.
The sheer delusion of being a literal million dollar trust fund baby while growing up in Beverly Hills and chalking the whole situation down to “these kids that aren’t rich are just jealous because they never made anything of their lives”
@Sickwit Music If I walked into to a dope house where everyone was holding a needle to the arm and I called them all idiots it wouldn't change. People can be wrong en masse. It's not the end of the world to have a different opinion. Try it sometime. Don't be the lemming.

Yo. I don’t know who this dude is, but he sounds like my friend from high school who did too many drugs and broke his brain. We have amenities that our parents didn't have, so trickle down economics exist? That's technological advancement... We are relatively poorer than our parents, even though we have iPhones lol.
Its also set up in such a way that we couldn't even live a "normal" life without it. It's just as much a standard for living as our parents having a car or house phone.
