That rod don't suck. I have all the sizes 8',9',10',11',&12'...never had that problem. The problem is you boosted that ray out of the water by high sticking which is a big no no. That's what sucked...not the rod!

Thank you for the feedback. I believe it is a combination of my doing and the quality of the rod, not all rods are made the same and I’ve used cheaper rods in the same manner and have not had any one of them snapped on me.

Good rods nowadays have a sensitive tip to feel the bite and strong back bone to haul the catch in. That being said, you have to know how to not handle these rods. Holding it straight up vertically like that while having a catch on it is asking for it to break. But im sure through this sacrifice, you have educated a lot if people. So i thank you, sir.

it can be the rod quality that plays a part of it but seems more like you broke it... everything was fine until you put pressure at the very top of the rod by trying to hold onto the stingray or pull it closer to you.... If I remember the rod is a fast action rod so in honesty, its not a bendable rod or stretchable rod like others that are moderate or slower action. That was a fisherman mistake. But I dont blame you though , many other fisherman dont know much about fast action rod when compare to the avg moderate that they usually put on all rods. Moderate fast action is bendable at the middle so when you do put up it... it will bend pretty solid I would say. But for the fast action rod its only bendable at the tip so you putting pressure on it... most likely its gonna break cause the rod wont bend with it as much as an moderate one. "Moderate rod are the avg rod, meaning majority of rod has it". But the Daiwa Emcast is fast action. People tend to forget about the fast action tip thats why the rod break.
