why did you use the jhub for solar when its only pwm when you know the redarc is mppt?

How is the inverter hooked up to all the power point sockets in the van does it need to be wired by an electrician?

Thanks for watching! Yes, it does need to be wired up by an electrician!

What would this setup cost. I also have a Swift 2021 model but its running the PM235J.

Thanks for the comment! This system can start from around the $6,000 mark depending if we are integrating solar etc and what components we can re use in your van!

I'm considering moving to a single 200ah lithium battery (at least initially) in my Journey 15.48-6 as well. I will need to replace the J35B unit and will likely look at getting the J35D over the J35B-L as it appears to have double the battery charge rate and nearly 50% higher solar input. I already have a basic 2000w/4000w inverter, would this plus a 200ah lithium battery be sufficient to run the AC for up to an hour just to knock the edge off the heat in the van every now and again? I also seem to be getting varied advice on inverter installation. Mine does not have the AC cutover or built in RCD, I'm not so fussed about the AC switch over, however I would like to have it installed professionally so that when the inverter is on that all the GPOs are fed buy it. Is this something you can do with any inverter, or is this a feature of the more more advance units like the enerdrive? I've also had a few differing opinions on inverter safety, specifically grounding. Obviously you get your 240v ground from the mains feed when at a caravan park, what is the correct/safe way to do this when off grid? I've been told everything from just use a floating ground, to using an RCD to using an RVD. The "supporters" of RVD actually state that an RCD will not protect you when off grid, and that an RVD is required to provide electrocution protected. Is an RCD enough for protection here? Thanks for the great content!

Hi Dominic. Thanks for your comment! Yes, We would recommend the J35D over the J35B-L for similar reasons that you have stated. We would recommend contacting a licensed Electrician that is familiar with Inverter systems in Caravans. You will however Require a transfer switch, We use and recommend the Enerdrive 2600w with built in Transfer. We work very closely with a regular experienced Electrician to ensure our systems are safe and Compliant. Please feel free to contact our office to discuss further.

Just wondering why it was saying it only had 2 hours of run time on a 200 amp lithium when it was only drawing 17 amps?

Hey Dale, Battery was at 80% and hadn't run a full charge cycle when we filmed this video and it obviously thought there was less charge in the battery then there was. 17.9amps draw should give around 9hrs of discharge at 80%. The battery went through a full cycle in our workshop before it left and was checked to be reading correctly (but after this was filmed)

Can we buy this upgrade as a kit

Unfortunately we don't have a kit including wiring. I can put a kit together of all the individual products - it wouldn't include any wiring though. If your interested in this please email us at info@amae.net.au
