@INFINITE BURROWS990 Good point. I hadn't thought about that. Since Oz is on the underside of the pancake, I suppose you'd need Velcro. Or forget the inverter altogether. Just drill a yuge hole in the center of Kansas and drop 'em a power cord. You'd have to use a negative 60hz cycle because of the screwy Vortillian Effect. Once you cross the Equator, your watch runs backwards. It's true. You can look it up.

Thanks for your comment! Depending on the type of battery you are using. If it is a lithium Battery you would need to check the maximum discharge rate that battery can handle. As for the 400w inverter, This will draw roughly 30amps. of a 40ah Battery you will get a very minimal run time without any charge input.

Hi Andrew, thanks for your enquiry! Sizing the correct inverter depends on the total wattage the appliance will draw. I.e if your E-bikes require 600w of power to charge, we would recommend a minimum of a 700w inverter. The wattage should be stated on the appliances spec data to size it accordingly. From there you will need to tailor a correctly sized DC battery system to have the correct capacity to carry out a full charge!

Solar at home should use a clean sheet design. The 3 most common mistakes are 1. Batteries in parallel ( bad ). 2. Unnessessarily using 120 or 220 volts for all devices, when many lights and appliances can be purchased in 12 volts. 3. Chasing false goals suggested by the installing contractor.

Thanks for your comment! Yes, with larger inverters they generally do have a a larger parasitic draw. However, You are correct in saying that a larger inverter would stay cooler due to not requiring to work as hard to produce a smaller load.

The fridge will be the only one running non stop (while travelling around). The fridge is 240v 50Hz 0.73A 106W. How do I work out what size inverter and battery do I need?

Hi Karina! You will need to add up the total draw & wattages of all appliances and work back from there! There is a lot of variables at play however which makes it hard to be able to advise accurately!

Hi MrFerrill, Thanks for your comment! Let's discuss a 600w inverter vs a 3000w. Turned on but with no appliances running a decent brand 3000w inverter would draw about 6amps. Hi there! It depends on the size of the car battery and the alternator as it will need to be able to produce the amperage required to run it continuously. Car batteries are not designed to have high amperage loads on them for a period of time, They are designed to provide high amperage for the initial starting of the vehicle then the alternator carries most the electrical load. We would recommend a generator for your purposes.

Thanks for watching! No, sorry, a smaller wattage inverter will not power a larger wattage device, you inverter needs to have a higher wattage then your device. We would recommend a minimum of a 1000w inverter with a secondary battery with a minimum 100Ah lithium battery. We do not recommend powering the inverter off your start battery unless that battery can handle 100Amp output and the car is running. Lets us know if we can help further! - The Team at Accelerate

@@accelerateoffgridtouring thanks for the info but it then prompts follow up questions: 1) Why is it then that all the overlanding setups I see on YT include an inverter while using a 12-volt fridge? I would assume it’s because they have other devices/appliances that require AC power so they are just using the AC outlet that comes with the 12-volt coolers and plugging it into the inverter along with their other devices. However doing so kind of defeats the purpose of buying a 12 volt cooler (versus an AC powered cooler) to begin with. To me the solution would be an inverter that ALSO has 12-volt ports along with the usual AC outlets…but if you do a search for inverters that have both they aren’t common at all; I found ONE such inverter on Amazon. 2) The 12 volt cooler I recently purchased comes with the 12 volt DC (cigarette lighter type) plug along with an AC plug but it does NOT come with the standard red and black positive/negative cables that one would need to connect directly to the battery. Considering this, how would I connect it directly to the battery if I wanted to go that route? Considering that inverters lose approximately 10% of power in the inversion process, I find it a little silly to plug a 12-volt cooler into the AC outlet on the inverter and yet that seems to be the go-to option for the overlanding setups I see on YT. To me the big benefit to using a 12-colt cooler is it’s increased power usage efficiency compared to an AC solution but that advantage is lost if all I’m going to do is use it’s AC cord option (that comes with these 12 volt coolers). Am I missing something here?

Thanks for the response. Each persons set up & application is different. We would recommend doing what is best for what you wish to achieve out of your system. You can wire a dedicated 12v cigarette socket off your auxilary battery system to plug your fridge into. We would recommend consulting your local Auto Electrician & getting a system to suit what you are require.

It depends on the individual item's wattage rating & if you are using them all at the same time you want to ensure that the 3 devices do not exceed your rated wattage in total. Generally speaking, a 1500w will cover these appliances but you will require a battery bank of a minimum of 200ah of ideal lithium to get a decent run time.

Yep! Lithium is the way to go in our opinion too, but of course, we can always come up with solutions to suit all applications and budgets. Glad you liked the video.

Thanks for your comment! It all depends on what is the max output from those batteries, the general rule of thumb is a single 100Ah will power a 1000w Inverter. You will have to check what one of the batteries' max output is, having 2 x 100Ah batteries increases the amp hours but the max output stays the same. You would need a dual battery system and inverter. We would need to see the specifications of the carpet cleaner to advise on what size system you would need.

Due to fluctuations in what each 240volt item may draw we need to see the specifications which are usually found on the box prior to advising.

We'd recommend Enerdrive or Redarc 2000w inverter.

We have not attempted to power a large speaker and some can peak over their wattage rating depending on the type and audio settings.

Yes but it would require you to be careful and not draw to much. Plus also make sure you've got a good solar setup to charge it back up!!

First and foremost, Most Lithium Batteries have a Max continuous Discharge current, I would recommend checking your battery specifications so you do not overload and damage your battery with the incorrect inverter.

We would be unable to advise what the best product would be to run your gaming application as the specifications vary from applications. Some devices have a built in transformer or converter to achieve the desired run voltage.

We would recommend looking at the specifications of your chargers and working back from there. You will have a significant power loss going from 12vDC to 240vAC to 12vDC once more.

It depends on the application, separate charge units are beneficial for lithium systems as you can have multiple sources of charging input at one time. The downfall of all-in-one units is that if one part fails you most likely have to replace the lot. If you'd like more information, feel free to contact our office direct.

Thanks for your comment John! Unfortunately 2x AGMS do not have the capacity to run an Aircon for any extended period of time. We recommend a minimum of 200ah of Lithium and a 2600w inverter to power an A/C. Ideally, We use 400ah of Lithium to maximise the run time.
