Real life tanker guy here. Your main concern should be on curves. Should you find yourself on an on ramp or exit ramp, whatever the speed of the exit, do 5mph under that speed. Good luck brother.
To save you some headache later on in life, take apart and check the 7 pin connector wires on the plug going to the tractor and the connection plug on the hitch. The set screws tend to come loose and cause the same issue
Maybe during harvest you could keep the tanker full of water and near the combines maybe use it to put out a fire if something like that were to happen.
That plumbing job on your trailer looks fantastic. So much to learn but I am sure you have done your homework. I can’t wait to see everything in action!
It should be more challenging to drive half-full versus full, as you don’t have any sloshing effect when the tank is full. It would be a good idea to keep the tanker full during harvest as a fire control unit. That rig holds a lot of water and would come in real handy should you folks ever experience a field fire. Great video as always!
We've used a cut a plastic barrel in half with a few notches cut at the right places to fit over the shaft and cover up your pump. And you will want to add a fresh water tank on the fender of the trailer to wash your hands if needed. Keep up the great content and stay safe this upcoming planting season
Everything on the tanker looks well thought out. When it comes time to replace your 3 inch sprayer fill hose, I would definitely recommend the ribbed hose like that used for the agitation. The rubber hose, especially with the ladder in the way of the hose tray, can be a lot.
Also for the pony motor on the trailer. Build a little aluminum enclosure with a door around it. Animals love getting under tarps like that. If you give me some dimensions I’ll draw one up in cad and cut it.
Great setup. For someone just learning to running a sprayer taking baby steps so you don't burn your crop. Good luck and hope everything works out for you.. hopefully Marty gets fully on board and you save lots of money because you were able to spray as soon as you see an issue.
When it comes to the digger, check for a Blown fuse. Had a similar issue with a 2660VT and it turned out to be a Blown fuse. Once replaced it fixed the problem
On your 2230 make sure your 7 pins is clean and plugged in. True set system has nothing to with folding. Its a very simple system i wouldn't be worried about Reliability and If ture set ever fails you can still run your single point and go.
Make sure you vent your trailer when dumping your load. It will suck the sides in like a tin can. Would love to see sides a top on engine compartment. Still think you should go to the blue beacon and have them brighten it. Watch the surge when driving. Stop signs keep brake covered as the surge will continue to move you. Keep videos coming.
In my country in the Eu, you aren't even allowed to mix chemical in the sprayer if you are not on the field. Everyone does it anyway, cuz it's pain in the butt and you need 1 more people to help with that. Then you are rolling around with a tanker already mixed. Different worlds I guess.
We still have some snow in the groves & ditches here in west central Minnesota. Well below normal temps for the next couple of days. Finally warms up next week they say. I sure hope so.
Yes all valves should be closed for road travel. Also if the sparge system becomes a problem you could extend the pipe inside the tank to close to the bottom and use a tee to spray in two directions
great job ! thanks for the walk around ,i always look forward to seeing what your doing ,looking forward to seeing how all this gets integrated into your over all farming program, IE not as many hrs in the day as we think , looks like your going to have alot of water to deal with , tillage ,planting, burn down , my favorite time of the year new growth.
We just got our 40.5ft cultivator, ordered 2 years ago. our 345 and 360 HP tractors pull it fine. First thing I'd do is make sure the port is working and hoses are fully in, then check the sensors, if something was misaligned, folding it up could have damaged it. I've only used ours once, but I was able to fold up the middle wing before the outside one folded, it should not be able to do that but it did.
You could try Zep trailer cleaner I've used it for over 6yrs for cleaning semi rims before I hit them with the secret sauce that makes them shine. Might be worth a try and I got my last 5gallon jug for about 60 bucks. As always good luck and God bless and stay safe out there.
The trailer looks like it turned out nice... Just wondered if you put valves on the sight glasses, could prevent you from loosing the load if a leak develops..... one other observation - is there a check valve in the air purge line? Probably help keep product out of the air system
You definitely need a clean water rinse tank for your hands . The Rotater on the Trackhoe is 100 grand 60,000 for a mini 18,000 pound machine . They are amazing but not something you want to use hard digging stumps or breaking concrete
@@aTrippyFarmermy friend bought one and it was 4 months just to get the guys from the UK to come and install it at our local JD dealer that was on a Jd 85 mini . The replce the controls it's a big deal
Well I remember that radar video at the beginning of this video. I got the call last Thursday right about the time that I'm typing this from my niece who lives in a town next to DeKalb IL. Went something like this. " My shed is in my driveway, I don't know what to do". I said I'm waiting for that stuff to pass my house before I drive there to access things. I live straight east in the west Chicago burbs. Now here's the funny part. A day or so before this you had the video on drainage in your fields using your drone. I spent my drive on IL RT 38 looking at the fields diagnosing drainage issues in the fields.
@@aTrippyFarmer mother nature at her best. Her subdivision backs up to a good 200 acre farm and her house is on the leading edge. She was the only one with damage. The trampoline nextdoor didn't move a inch.
@@aTrippyFarmer My dad owned a Manufacturing company here in Texas and we built a lot of equipment for the Oil Field as well as our local Volunteer Fire Departments. We would sometimes have the previously owned stainless steel and aluminum trailers our customers ordered acid washed before before rigging/building them out and it always worked wonders and wasn’t back breaking. The company we used to polish them said it made their job easier as well.
You are definitely going to run into foaming issues. We have had decent luck with granular anti foaming products. Overall the plumbing valves and materials used on that tank is as good as you can get.
I'm curious how you are going to wash out between corn and beans. You might consider putting rinse balls In the top of the tank probably 3or 4 per compartment. Coming from Thirty years in the fertilizer business you can never wash enough
I'd be interested to hear your views on Colorado's newly enacted right to repair legislation for ag machinery, i.e. Deere et al having to supply parts, software, tools, service manuals, etc. and if you'd welcome that in Illinois?
It’s pretty hard to complain about something that supports the farmer’s ability to repair their own equipment. In my opinion, the issue is the service monopoly. There is not ability for outside companies to work on newer equipment which allows Deere dealerships to run their prices rampant. There needs to be balance!
That is an interesting topic. There are some rules that technically give farmers some wiggle room on needing a Class A license for hauling their own family’s grain. Most farmers do get a Class A CDL, though.
I think it’s very wise of you to have someone else handle the chemical mixing first year you spray you own fields. You’re not storing all those chemicals then figuring out all the rates.
Andy, do yourself a favor. Makeup a simple fire hose with a 1" open bore nozzle. Reduce the 3" discharge to a 2" layflat hose to a 1" open bore nozzle of some kind. When your done spraying. You'll have your own fire suppression vehicle. That internship you just offered is a job of a lifetime for someone. Best wishes in finding that person. We're all feeling the effects of Corpflation. Honda anything are the only reliable pieces of equipment on earth... L0L Happy planting. Burn and turn until the wheels fall off... L0L
That’s a pretty neat idea about the fire hose. We’ve thought about using the tanker as a fuel trailer in the fall, but we haven’t fully vetted the legality of that idea.
I probably don't need to tell you this as you are not a dumb man......be extremely careful with cornering and stopping. With the baffles missing and half loaded compartment is dangerous and very susceptible to rolling over. I have driven tanker before, you must be cautions.
And people think electric cars are the answer. If the problem with your field cultivator was a simple piece of dirt on the pin, can we all imagine what issues could be on electric vehicles. At least your tanker trailer is not electric!! I see on the gram that you are spraying and planting at the time of this vid. Full speed ahead and keep it between the rows. 🚜
your problem is beyond ridiculous . software for that thing what planet are they on. it's a service issue . send a service guy. is there no instructions manual /cb/dvd.
