When I dump out the spent capsules I notice a lot of water is this normal? I made espresso with the cup holder out and saw at the end of the cycle it dumped some coffee into where the spent capsules go.

Hello, yes this definitely normal. That is left-over water from the pressure, after the pour is complete.
