“Coach, I’ve played against walk-ons; that is no walk-on.” Brandon is the reason he was no longer a walk-on. He earned his place on that team with his discipline (losing 50+ lbs, getting up every morning at 5:15am, exercising), perseverance through failure when lesser men would have given up, and enthusiastic dedication to learning the proper techniques (“remember your steps”). It’s a good life lesson for all of us.
The Wolf on top of the hill is never as hungry as the wolf climbing the hill... Most PWO’s are just a skilled as scholarship players, only difference being they didn’t get recruited as highly in high school
All about vision and self belief, despite what others might say. Nearly everyone laughed at him and said no way he can do this. Brandon thought he could do it the whole time and kept the faith and head held high at all times. He stayed true and became an all time great man and story- will never forget this film.
This man ran a 4.88 at the combine. That’s INCREDIBLY fast for someone his size. What a remarkable story he had(s). ^Quick story to back this up^ We were playing pickup one day at our local school’s field. I was thrown the rock and had nothing but crappy half-green turf in front of me to the end zone. I saw my life flash before my eyes as a MASSIVE, FAT varsity lineman tackled my ass from nowhere. Lessons learned: DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE LINEMEN! They are fast!
watch that clip of Larry Allen (RIP) chasing down a linebacker from a standing start. Dude was BOOKING and caught up with one of the fastest linebackers in the league at that time.
Based on a true story, Brandon Vaughn Burlsworth was an offensive lineman for the Arkansas Razorbacks football team from 1995 to 1998. He joined the team as a walk-on and eventually became an All-American and was going to marry television host Heather Nichols but died in a car accident offseason from a head on collision on his was to Chruch ..RIP Brandon 🕊
Brandon channeled into his faith and found strength. something that is so rare. for anyone. let alone those who are faithful. it dosn't matter what you pull your strength from. just pull it. Brandon was the person we all wish to be. and that comes from a person who isn't a fan of sports.
I've never seen this movie, but this coach seems like a great guy. He's honest about his weight issue but he's also willing to help him every step of the way. That's a great coach imo
Every young offensive lineman should watch this movie. Its about technique, hand placement, leverage, foot drive, pad level... Shaq Mason got into the league as a Triple Option G. He learned how to pass protect at the pro level in one training camp, became one of the top guards in the league a season later and was named an all-pro in his 4th season.
Love how the coach was shocked at the win Brandon pulled off at the end but had him do it again to build his confidence and to see his coaching paid off
During College gameday, 2 weeks ago, they told the actual story of Brandon Burlsworth. I'm guessing with all the resurfacing going on, the videos popularity is picking up
@@jeremyharrison844 - That makes perfect sense. Google searches probably spiked, so youtube of course ends up recommending any videos that have to do with him.
As Notre Dame die-hard, Rudy is my favorite football movie, my favorite underdog story, and one of my 3 favorite movies of all time. Yes, it took some creative liberties, but it still brings tears to my eyes. With that said, I absolutely love this movie. From what I understand, it doesn't take too many creative alterations; it's pretty much the real and amazing story of Brandon Burlsworth. He is a true inspiration to anyone who was ever told, "You can't do it." The world needs more Brandon Burlsworths. RIP to a great football player and a better man.
I just read up about this man. What an athlete and what a player. I played ball for 19 years and shared the same #77 number as this man. RIP up in Hog heaven. Stay low...Get inside control and keep those feet moving.
You're wrong. Maybe you didn't learn about them until 3 years ago but even the Marine Corp used these techniques, especially the mooring lines for shoulders at least 15 years ago.
What sad ending! Amazing to see what he went through, really wished you were able to play in the NFL like yo were supposed too. (He was drafted in the 2nd round and died in an accident 10 days later)
This is one of the greatest stories ever. And I cry like a baby every time I watch it and I’ve seen it 15 times probably. That’s fucking heart and dedication
Growing up from middle school to even now senior in hs everyone kept hating on my work ethic or calling me a try hard every time I felt like I couldn't do it it scream how bad do u want it. Watching this movie n finding this man out motivated me to never giving anything less than 150% in anything I do, especially sports it paid off in the end I earned the respect from one of my old enemies, now my goal and treat is to work on coaching at arkansas where the man myth legend played at
Prime Tide Sports the movies was made not too long ago i wanna say 2016 and it was a low budget Christian movie so they couldn’t exactly build a new stadium and other probs
The moment how i thought i couldn't over come being skinny and fighting autism spectrum disorders when i did it.It was hard ass work to try and get into shape but over the years i prevailed and i done did it...now I'm all mighty an all super naturally powerful an indestructible.Even my enemies who thought i couldn't do it proved their asses wrong i weigh over 180 pounds i'm 5'9 and i look so damn good at it too.It was never easy but as a blessing i was hungry for victory so i never gave up trying.Way to go Brandon I'm proud of you my guy😉🤘✨✨✨💪💪😎.
I don't usually watch movies that involved religion. However, this story was so inspirational and in my 43 years one of the most moving stories that I've ever known of that even made me question my faith or lack of.
@@domanickmiller2641 I'm 6'0 320 but look like I'm 270. I have no idea why but it's good for football because people be underestimating me then they cant move me. It's kinda funny sometimes.
I have to see this movie. I was and still somewhat am a draft junkie read about this kid back in the day and it was truly sad how early his life ended.
Lived this, except for the car wreck at the end. Went from 300 down to 230 in high school. Got my 40's down to 5.3. Went on to start in D2 as a sophomore because at 6'3" 260, I could run in the mid 5's while ever other OL in the league was turning 6's and 7's at 300+ . Eating right and running about 6 miles a week along with weight room training.
Great movie. This kid accomplished what most people can’t just because they never try. Very sad ending. Wish more people had the heart he did. We definitely have a better world today.
4:45 “if this dude ever play in a real game I’d be an all American.” Bro the only difference is that Brandon worked harder then any of you scholarship players who went from walk on to the NFL.
