I hate that. Seems all RU-vidrs are struggling lately with sound volumes. Talking is never loud enough, music is too loud, and unimportant shit like ads and outro are louder than all of it. Makes no sense
Yeah dude! I only watched this podcast one time while trying to rock my daughter to sleep and quickly realized Randall Carleson on JRE is the way to put babies to sleep. Still watch all these clips though!!
I remember getting told I had hep C and not aids, after being an iv drug user for years and being so happy, I know 100% what he means, scary time I’ve been off drugs for 30 years now and have a wife, business and family, it still haunts me every day
Can I just say: bleach won't kill the hep C virus and even flushing with water doesn't do anything effective if there's a live blood borne virus present. So appreciative of Novak's honesty re: lived experience of IV using, sharing needles and harm reduction service! From an ex user - current harm reduction worker 🙏
@Niklas or bite the bullet and shell out 16 cents for a new rig. Granted, it's been a while, but a box of 100 was 16 bucks back in my day. If that's not available, up the nose or up the butt would make more sense than a random aids needle of off the ground. But what do I know?
@Niklas plugging it can be 85% as effective. There is zero need to risk anything. You're giving the wrong advice. That's not harm reduction by any means. What I suggest is.
@Niklas I was equally stupid for even longer. There is also the issue with the needle point getting bent back more and more with each use, killing veins and causing more scar tissue. Even after one use. Do a search. Then there is the blood clot/ infection risk too. We had very different professionals. The clinics I went to only talked about never reusing rigs.
If you use needles, you can always get new needles. Please don’t share needles. Most cities with high use have places that will give you some. Even otherwise a pharmacist at any pharmacy will likely have sympathy for you if you’re just honest about needing some clean needles. Don’t reuse or share.
@Niklas never shot up personally but i spent alot of time around ppl who would due to my perc and xanax addiction and these people would boil their needles in 1/8 bleach 7/8 water and never caught anyrhing so hey idk maybe that works well
I love that Steve-O is not a know-it-all. He gives his perception/opinion. Then listens and considers. AND is open to being wrong or misinformed. Definitely not one of my qualities 😬 but I'm working on it🤗
Thank God I found myself and got on this journey of recovery. During lockdown in 2020 at the height of my crack addiction I was very reckless. I would make sure i had on a mask wherever I went, carried hand sanitiser wherever I went, won't take a cigarette from someone or sip from beer someone else was drinking... but when it came to the crack pipe, all Covid protocols went out the window. INSANITY
i wish i could say i did that, but i didnt i shared or finished a billion beers or cigarettes over the years, and i didnt even like smoking and didnt even use it via that method and there isnt a psychoactive or psychedelic drug i havent smoked, but when somebody gives you a pipe you use it. didnt share needles though, the ''ah screw it'' moments you inevitably find yourself in are what should make you think twice. when Charlie Sheen got HIV the testing rates exploded so its a good thing for Novak and Steve-O to dare to even discuss i think . Because lets face it when morals go out the window its sheer luck you not getting whatever disease is on the table the next time you try get high.
Idk if i fit in this discussion but i drink almost everyday vodka and water and lemon juice and the only reason i do it is bc my husband made me an alcoholic and i cant not drink if he drinks bc i can't deal with with him.
I've been clean for over 10 years now but I had some blood work done a few months ago. It was just a routine check since I hadn't had it done since the 90's. Tested positive for hepc & was pretty freaked out. That and they wanted to do a hiv test too. The hiv came back negative and I just tested with 0 hepatitis in my blood! Everything has it's price, I guess. Still trying to figure out why I'm anemic now but one thing at a time.
Dude seen your comment and had to look up the interview, holy shit he looks terrible! But then the shit Stern had them talking about like Novak getting so fucked up he tried sleeping with his mother! Like holy shit is all I can think to say to that!!!
I used needles for 15 years when I was a heroin addict. I never shared needles and I managed to not get a single disease. Now I’m a nurse and my life is very different. I thank the harm reduction people everyday, they saved me.
@@jonasthemovie no, it's definitely AIDS. It was discovered after he caught a minor bronchial infection that became pneumonia while in hospital, which pretty drastically narrows down the possible causes and led the drs to test for AIDS. Then there was skin lesions and drastic weight loss all in the space of a couple of weeks. But this was in the late 90s and antiretroviral drugs had improved a lot by then. We all assumed he was going to die but they released him to an outpatient program after a couple of months in hospice and he's been reasonably healthy ever since. Just has to avoid infections, cos they'll still kill him pretty easily. That will probably be how he dies.
I was a an iv junkie for almost a decade and this resonates so much. That fucking fear and knowing that, If i come up Hiv positive, I will not be confused as to how it happened. I never caught anything but did share needles a handlful of times when there was no other option, and i avoided that test like the plague itself. Scary shit to deal with
Yeah I'll admit it I was a heroin addict and got locked up here in Australia and used a jail fit KNOWING I would get Hepatitis C. And it wasn't the one off it was my whole year long sentence almost everyday. That was probably the lowest time in my life now I'm so happy they have pills to cure it. Not that I'm gonna go back that way!!! Also good on ya both for getting sober!!!
If you ever find yourself in that situation, or have a stick injury just from being out and about. Go to your nearest hospital or planned parent hood and get PEP. It's a great medication used to prevent HIV transmission. Also if you're engaging in any activity where HIV transmission is a risk talk to someone about starting PrEP.
PEP has saved my ass many times. HIV is preventable and manageable. There's medication that assists HIV positive people become HIV undetectable. Don't allow fear to stop you from getting tested and practicing safer techniques doesn't matter whether it's IV use or sex you're engaging in there's help out there for you. Research the latest advice constantly for activities your engaging in, follow HIV advocacy social media and become engaged and informed in HIV awareness.
Hey SteveO! Long time fan. Much love, but homie we need to have an honest conversation about HIV. I was born with it 32 years ago. I teach people living with HIV in Nashville, TN. I know you don't mean to, but this is helping to spread HIV stigma. Again, you're a hero! And I know you would never want to mislead anyone
@@crimsonandcloveroverandover1 you're right. With today's technology and medicine, it is possible for people living with HIV to have children who are negative. Back in the 80s though, the medicine and technology wasn't what it is today. My mother was positive, and through childbirth passed it on to me.
I had someone get me well he had a needle but no plunger and was hiv+ I had my own needle he cooked mine first then asked me to find a needle in the allyway we were in and get a plunger. Closest call Ive had.
I did meth for 10years straight fkn years everydayall day partying, clean now for over 14years, and I never even thought about sticking a fkn needle in my arm! Let alone a used one!. In order to do drugs the correct way you need to be strong willed and have common sense bros!.. worst thing I ever did back then was fked a couple fine but sketchy azz chicks..
@@crimsonandcloveroverandover1 yes. Well I would take like 8 to 10 hour naps like once every 5 to 7 days.. I ate and took vitamins, I tried to stay as healthy as you can be while doing poison lol..
My highschool sweetheart shot me the first time but it was 20 years after highschool and I couldn't stop with the shit it was beautiful and awful I am just about a year off meth and heroin and fentanyl
The hardest thing I did was sniff Bostic for 3 years. Detoxing off that shite horrible. But you guys cleaning yourselves up after God knows how long. Great job guys.
maybe type brandon novak and steve o on youtube? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5R4X06PHPZY.html that took me a whopping 4 seconds to find lol.. damn some of u people have me worried with ur lack of braincells on here
You can donate plasma two times a week for a month and make $700 to $1k total your first month depending on what multi billion dollar company you go to. Then as a regular donor you make $500 to $600. The movie called Puncture can be found for free and is a true story about glass/plastic syringes
If anyone is actually reading..they use huge needles and plus They make you take a questionnaire once a year and if you mess up on a question because you don't remember what you said before then they will ban you for life ...you literally won't be allowed to donate anymore even though there is nothing wrong with your plasma ..
I slept with a girl condom broke and for 2 years straight I didn't sleep with any girl because I was scared to get an hiv test I finally did and missed the doctors appt when they were telling me the results and I tried to call the secretary they wouldn't tell me and I had to wait another week to see the doctor so that whole week I was so scared then when I found out I didn't have it I was pisses because I wasted 2 years of my life
I was pissing blood and was really worried. The doctors told me I needed to come in for the results in person and wouldn’t tell me over the phone. I thought I had cancer. They told me I had……. chlamydia. Haha I fucking high fived the doctor. Haha
In my experience I’ve always noticed a lot of weird tension with heroin addicts or IV users and coke or speed addicts. I’m a recovering IV heroin user and got a lot of judgment from upper addicts (meth coke crack) when I was doing NA.
@@jessicaann180 lol meth is ten times worse for u than heroin so thats funny. i think steve-o is just lame and always comes across like that tbh. people love steve-o but hes made some really annoying shitty comments on this pod before. in this full podcast he says some wildly presumptuous and judgemental things about heroin addicts which i was surprised about. hes a fake addict imho. he did a bunch of coke but he never had the balls to do really hard drugs. yeah i said it
Stevo needs to learn how to listen. He keeps interrupting with extra comments. The interviews are super intense, and then he goes “but meeee”. Love him but I want to hear the guests.
I love how Steve o violates aa and na by breaking anonymity and making cash off them. Meanwhile they struggle financially because members like him don't donate shit
In my experience, there’s no anonymity in AA. There’s nothing a person in AA likes to talk about more than being in AA How do you know he doesn’t donate? He seems pretty committed to the cause
@@robertloerwald3 I know he doesn't donate because it would be clear in the financial statements I have seen from NA. If NA's celebrities donated it would be a billion dollar company instead of a million dollar one. It is the most corrupt and wasteful fellowship out there. Their previous chair, Franny Jardine of Olympia Washington is a scum bag lawyer who is using the fellowship as a way to enact her political ideology. The whole fellowship is political ideology now. There is tons of embezzlement going on and everyone knows it. That's party of why he doesn't donate. He may know that people get really shady and steal NA money constantly. That's part of why it is a giant global network and it is so poor. We all know people are pocketing cash left and right. It's a joke.
@@Its2084 I had no idea that AA is a million dollar company and I don’t understand why it needs to be a billion dollar one. I thought it was a non-profit support group that relied on small donations from attendees to pay the rent on the rooms for the meetings. Beyond that what is needed? I don’t have whole lotta experience with AA, maybe three dozen meetings, but I’ve never seen any signs of any major fundraising and have never seen someone bring up politics. The last place people need to hear such a triggering topic is an AA meeting. If it’s the way you say it is, and I’m not saying it’s not - I have no idea, why would anyone donate to it? What is need more than an available room and a group to support each other?
@@robertloerwald3 It is a global organization which has costs like any other. There are people who hold board positions and other service positions. The bigger it gets the more costs. It could grow larger, with more benefits to members but it chooses not to. Most of the money is completely wasted. There is rent on rooms, money for publishing, websites, schedules and the list goes on. Some people are even paid employees which is controversial. There are people making money off of these fellowships. It is far far more than rooms. There is a lot of planning that goes into AA meetings. There are groups writing new literature as well. New books cost money. It isn't anything like a non-profit anymore. There is constant talk of NA losing non-profit status because of embezzlement and service structure issue. It is a bunch of random criminals that have taken over the fellowships. I have heard constant Political rants in the rooms. People also getting shut down for talking about things because of politics. Both of these fellowships have become toxic shells of what they once were. Facebook has knowledge of most members at this point and has the names of the members saved. There truly is no anonymity. My point is that no one should donate to those groups and they should crumble at this point. They are just arms for the Department Of Justice and the Drug Court System. These meetings are used and abused by for-profit rehabs. Many meetings are actually run by rehabs! So they are making a profit off of the fellowship! It's a joke! You can own and run your own meetings and make tons of money off them if you declare yourself a "rehab".
