+Tyrell Wiggems or....just because he's internet famous that doesn't make him the best. He could be center eventually or he could never be center. Keelan never was and he was one of the best to come through BD individually. Only time will tell.

+JoRoHarris Buddy, no one ever said he was the best. I do get your point though. We're just simply saying that he is on point, you can't deny that he has some monster chops and for being so young....I think that speaks incredible volumes.

Jacob Morningstar I think the point is that auditions arn't all about the skill. If someone who made it in last year(or several years) develops a really cocky bad attitude, and someone shows up with a high skill of playing and is significantly more helpful mentally and emotionally to the line, even someone like Brandon could be cut

Yep....we had a guy from the 84 BD sop line who was asked not to come back....ended up aging out in 85 with a different finalist. I like to think I would've been able to return had I not aged out in 84.

It would make sense because Scott Johnson (the arranger and percussion caption head for Blue Devils) along with several other BD instructors, helped out with creating the System Blue equipment.

Eric Lozaga yes, everyone tries out even if they've been in BD before. Yes it's typical that the same people make it in again but occasionally they don't

When did that change? I marched BD.. once you made it you were in and didn't have to reaudition for the corps (like other corps do).. you do audition for parts though.

Eric Lozaga maybe for drumline at least it's different, I just remember Scott Johnson saying that returning members (though not often) have been beat out before.

must be relatively new within the last 10 years. Before, once you made it you were in... I remember in the late 90s you'd have like 200 drummers auditioning for like 3 spots. Even the drummer from Blink 182 auditioned in 96... and got cut. lol
