Just discovered your channel. The reason the sheriff followed and watched him is because he is supposed to be a mob boss during prohibition, when alcohol was illegal. Hence why the second car full of alcohol had armed guards.

I've been a huge fan of Brantley's since before he was a huge name. You should check out a few of his ballad songs (this is my first video of yours, it popped up in suggestions), Halfway to Heaven is fantastic. It's autobiographical (there is a clip on here somewhere that he actually talks about it), as is Boy (off his newest album) plus many others lol. Read Me My Rights is another one I think you'd like, as just by watching this, I think it would fit well with how you think/feel about things (it's not a ballad lol). One of my favorite parts about this video is the seamless transition once they get to the house (did you notice it?) from "olden era" to present. (Halfway to Heaven is about when he flipped his car after a night of drinking and is the thing that made him take music seriously. He's been sober for 7/8 years now though).

The parts where it's in the past take place I'm assuming during prohibition. Where drinking was illegal across the US. He makes alchohol. He sells it. The law, the sheriff has a legal obligation to shut his operations down. So that party was super illegal at the time. The reference to Bonnie and Clyde further my idea. But, it turned into a semi Copper Head Road type situation.
