Braun Shaver 340s-4 teardown 

Thanks mate - my sideburn trimmer stopped working months ago and it's been hell cutting down the forest without it lol. With your help i got the trimmer off today and found several million bits of beard inside it, picked it all out with tweezers, got it all back together (broken plastic welds still broken lol) and managed to remove a forest from planet face in minutes rather than struggling with a normal razor. You sir are a hero.

Thanks to this video I have just managed to change out the worn out batteries in my razor with two Eneloops. It's crazy how strong it is again, I completely forgot that it used to be like this, in the last few years it was barely moving any more.

I took my new shaver report today, it's brand new, still sealed in its box, I purchased this as a spare about 4 years ago but out of the box it didn't work, no charge no light nothing. I opened it up as you showed and the internal body has the same screws missing or I would say they were never there, Braun saving money. Anyway, got the batteries out, one is reading nothing and one does have a voltage but very low, rechargeable batteries go to sleep if not used after a long, I put both in a charger and one charges, one doesn't, so I put the non charging battery into the slot with the battery that is charging, did this for about 10 seconds and then put that battery into its own charging slot and it's now charging, both batteries have charged, shaver back together and working.

Thanks so much! Seeing how to take it apart, was able to find that some water which had rendered it unable to charge had not actually shorted a circuit, but only inside the stand had heated up the charging prongs, causing them to move enough (unseated from the plastic housing) to disconnect from the battery terminals inside. Put the soldering iron on that lil guy and nudged him back into place, and boom - razor charging!

I opened up the razor 320S, I had two screws and 4 screws missing as well. Apparently that's the way it supposed to be. I changed the AA rechargeable batteries and I bend the battery's contacts slightly, so it will make better contact. After, I had a little trouble to put it back together again and I missed a spring. Later I discovered this video, just to make sure I did the right thing in putting it back together. It works fine now.

I have two of these - a 340 and an older 320. The 340 only has two diagonally opposed screws holding the two halves together just like yours. The 320 has all six screws. So, you are not missing four screws. Braun chose to save a few pennies and only use two. Looks like water got in.

What size are the cells, looking to order some to replace mine before I tear it down. Great vid.

Mine suddenly wouldn't turn off after getting only slightly wet. I disassembled it and found the same problems as yours: two screws instead of six and a missing o-ring around one of the two screws at the top. (You apparently didn't notice this, but you can see that same defect in your video at 3:46, and that is almost certainly why they have such serious water incursion problems.) If it had been only one, I'd write it off as a fluke, but two with the exact same unlikely-to-be-accidental flaws tells me that these are junk. Waterproof? Not even close.

To sum up, you don't really know how to solve the problem, proceeding by trial and error. And then how are you going to replace and reassemble everything? I remain perplexed. Thank you all the same for taking the time for the video. 🇲🇫♿️🙏

By the way, the two screws by the head are extremely easy to break (ask me how I know).

It appears that you plugged the incoming mains of 117volts directly into the shaver. prob blew it up. The 117V goes into the charger.

do these have brushed motors in them???

By any chance, would you know how to replace the batteries inside a Braun Cool Tec Electric Razor? German products are outstanding, until they break down. I've tried calling Braun USA but all I get is an answering machine. I understand that every business is running on a skeleton crew do to this Pandemic, but come on.
