I agree that this show has some problems ( most of which could have been fixed if it was 24 eps long), but I find the rest of the show so enjoyable that I don't mind them. It was pure simple badass fun. Love seing people talking about this show. Great work on the vid. Loved it.
This series would be much better for 24 episodes so it can flesh out the side characters and get to know their backstory like why they were enlisted to the military in the first place. But hey giving them typical sob backstory cliche is better than nothing. I agree some super robot mechs look like they belong from Transformers because they have mouths.
To appreciate this show, you'll have to embrace the 90's "Brave" saga, with its pinnacle being the "King of Brave: GauGaiGar" and its more mature in-universe spinoff, "Betterman". Heck, I'll throw in "Goddannar" and "Gun x Sword" just because I'm a fan of the character designs and whacky interactions.
I plan to get to them eventually, though I admit so far I'm not too cultured on everything. That's kinda the fun of this though, is that I have the chance to be wrong and share a different perspective
@@NopeMechs there's no "wrong" way to critique mecha genre anime, unless one just merely acting as a cunturiran for clicks sake. Certain mecha titles were really more labors of love while under budget constraints, whereas some were just too ahead of their times. One thing for sure, most mecha titles before the advent of " Patlabour" were truly one of a kind original story, when Patlabour itself kickstarted the multimedias saturation because it was created right in the heat of Japan's electronics media and entertainment war. It's OVA and TV series all differ slightly from its graphics novel origin, not to mention its numerous video games released on different councils.
