From what I saw in the video, the reason you probably didn't get close to the hares is because your guide didn't get you all to go low when you spotted one. From there you may have been able to slowly creep forward army style. Also, you were all so spread out, so were acting like beacons saying 'hey, look at me', and it wouldn't surprise me if the hares run off upon noticing you.

That's some great advice that I can take with me next time I am out, thank you. (I have also just ordered a more appropriately coloured coat 😂)

Just found your channel and am now working my way through all the content. I like the way it is real, and shows what wildlife photography is really like.

Thank you 😊 glad to have you along for my photography journey 💞 my aim is to keep the videos as 'real' as possible and show what it is actually like getting out with my camera 📸

You got some terrific shots. I really enjoy my 200-600 lens. A bit heavy, but great range and clarity. Awesome trek!

Thank you 😊 It is soooooooo heavy! I have been using my 70-200 f2.8 with a 2x TC, and it is so light in comparison! Going to have to start some weight training! 😂

@@JoHeard 🤣 I also have a 28-200mm Tamron. It’s super light and super sharp. But I still like the reach of that 600mm monster. 🤣

It takes a while to get used to the 200-600s weight. But mine is hardly off my camera now as I usually shoot birds. With wildlife the trick is to put yourself in a position to get close to the subject - easier said than done but practise helps. Walking up a hill in a group where the hares have a good view is unlikely to be a good strategy. And I hear what you are saying about the wind but keep in mind how small the field of view is and pat yourself on the back for getting any photos in those conditions. 🙂

It makes my 70-200 feel like a feather when I use that now! 😂 Now I am back home I am going to be practising my field craft more, so I can eventually get closer, I have also got a more suitably coloured coat 😂😂 Thank you for watching and your encouraging words 👍

I was out getting general nature shots yesterday and startled a rabbit, or rather, he startled me: I never knew he was there until he bolted. I could just see those hares of yours poking their little ears up behind the rocks around you after your group had walked on by... :)

Very interesting photographs of hares. They are probably very difficult to get to. With such a long focal length of the lens, it is possible to use a tripod.

Yes, I think in hindsight at least a mono pod would have been helpful 😂 but as I am new to all this I still have lots to learn.
