I actually got out my bread machine and made these hamburger buns They came out like yours and what a different flavor and texture from store bought! Thanks for encouraging me to bake again!
Hi you two! Beautiful buns! I think I’ll do mine with 3oz bc your buns are a bit bigger than we’d need. Your recipe worked out perfectly! No adjustments!! Great job!!🌷🌷
I made these tonight, they were delicious! My dough was sticky and didn't want to come out of the bread machine, but I lightly floured both sides of my dough ball once it came out. I flattened it, divided it into half, then into half again to make eight rolls. I threw a towel over them while I got my egg wash ready. Thank you for such a great recipe! This will be a regular for us!
Your the best Amy. Love your creative and delicious recipes and simple presentations. You make everything look so easy too....it makes me think I can do it too. Thanks again for sharing your talents with us! Loved your Easter table too!
@AmyLearnsToCook, I followed your recipe exactly and the buns turned out wonderful! Well, I have a bit of practicing to do on shaping them, but what's a mutant bun between friends, eh? We loved the taste and the texture and the buns that didn't get the hamburger treatment got the hoagie/sandwich treatment the next day and were tasty at that, too. Thank you so much!
I had to watch your video twice the second time I watching it is because I'm actually making them and I followed your video they're in the bread machine now mixing I can't wait...!!!!
We have a little bit of bread machine whole wheat to finish up, then going to make these. Got sirloin thawing in the fridge for meatloaf tomorrow, but it might turn into burgers and these homemade buns. Thanks so much.
Thank you Barbara. Glad you enjoyed the video. They were amazing. I battered and fried up some chicken breasts, added some bacon. Some tomatoes, and made something that was quite tasty.
Hi Amy & Eric!!! I enjoyed your video today. I have a bread machine down the base from years ago... I never really used it. Your buns really look so..good. Im sure they taste way better that the buns at the store. Great job. Take care Stay safe & GOD bless.
G'day from Sydney Australia.Hope you and your family and friends are doing well in this global crisis. I really enjoy your RU-vid channel. I especially love watching your unboxing I caught an older unboxing of the Breville products and was really excited on what you thought of our brand of kitchen appliances .you have been a fantastic help on baking bread in the past I was baking bread in my bread machine but now only do the dough and bake in the oven thanks for the fantastic tip. Looking forward to give your hamburger rolls a try.
Thank you Catherine for watching our videos. Glad you like them. We are staying put. So far so good. Not trying to catch the virus. The Brevilles generally are good products. She likes the Breville food processor the most. It's expensive, but very well designed and has a ton of blades to use that come with it. The Smart Fryer is OK. The first one died, and we returned it under warranty. I haven't used the replacement. I'm not a fan of its cord. I can only guess the electronics broke in it. Not used to such a fancy fryer, but it produced Amy's favorite french fries of all time. So you earned that award! The mixers are good. I don't think they stand out, but I think they run better than the KA Artesan, so you have that going for you. I"m not sure what else she has for Breville. I'm glad we have been able to help you with your bread making. I think it's a skill and an art to make wonderful bread. Do try the hamburger buns. They didn't last long. Yum!
Hi Amy, thanks for another great video (and I always love seeing which mixer you've got sitting on the counter behind you). I have a question: can you use the exact same recipe and knead the dough in a stand mixer instead? (I don't have a bread machine.) Your videos always lift my spirits and now in especially tough times I appreciate them even more than usual.
I think you can use these ingredients and follow one of Amy's bread recipes that use the mixer, such as any of her mixer tests where we make bread dough. The thing is in which order you add liquids, keep the salt away from the yeast (or risk killing it) and all that....The bread machine does such a wonderful job of kneading the dough, but a decent mixer should be able to knead it. I hope that helps.
So I made this recipe came out absolutely perfect and only did four hamburger buns in the rest dinner rolls and they were amazing. Would this recipe for dinner rolls work a day or two ahead of time and let them rise in the refrigerator for Thanksgiving?
I usually do 1 bulk fermentation when I take it out of the mixer. After it doubles in size, I punch it down, divide, shape, and pan. Then I do a final proofing (second rise) and bake.
I'm thinking you can leave egg out and just add a bit more oil to help keep the buns soft (basically replacing the fat from the egg). But eggs may do other stuff to the buns. But give it a try and see how it turns out.
Yes. I do a slow rise in the fridge overnight all the time. Just put the dough ball in a gallon ziplock bag. Let it cold ferment overnight in the fridge. You will actually get more flavor in the dough. Then...take it out and let it warm up to room temp. Then you can roll it out and make your pizza. It should turn out great!
Girlfriend: you know how to make hamburger buns!! If I hadn't already promised pizza tonight, I would be having grilled burgers on those hi-rise buns. lol
LOL...hubby in the background! Anyway yes these were perfecto but I did not use a scale. Just divided by 6. Plus I just used Canola butter spray for the final glaze. Thank you (still laughing ... hubby is a star)
Hi don't know what i did wrong, it looked fine like Amys did until i was pulling it out then it was sticky all over my hands had to keep oil on my hands. Finally have then in the ball shape and are now rising. Can someone tell me what my problem was? Thanks for your help.
HI, i had a thought, if you make them again you might want to try adding a little extra flour as she suggested and see if it helps. Also, i'm not sure if she mentioned it, but it's always a good idea to oil your hands. :)
I didn't hear you say how much salt you used. Also my bread maker doesn't have a 'dough' setting. So is it just a mix function or does that leave it time to rise too? Help! I have all the ingredients here and am not sure where to go from here
You will just have to watch it and take it out after the rise cycle. The recipe is available on my website: www.amylearnstocook.com/bread-machine-hamburger-buns/ Oops I just edited it because I put in the wrong link.
I made these buns tonight and they came out amazing. One thing, though. In the printed recipe on your web page, you reversed the order of the egg wash and the half hour rest under a towel. You many want to fix that.
You have a scale so why do you not use the most accurate method of weighing everything including the water (Not the sugar, salt yeast you can still use the spoon method)?
I watch your channel for bread making, any & all kind, but please please please show the end result being used for its intended purpose - would love to see the bun being used in a sandwich. I can't be the only one who wanted to see one of those bad boys split open & chicken sandwiched or burgered up, right?
Use the recipe anyways with a stand mixer (or knead by hand). But the order might be different than in a bread machine. You can watch one of Amy's other bread videos and use the ingredients from this video but mix them in a different order as necessary.
