Michael is a Master Heritage Mason who focuses on lime work, he has a You tube channel and website. His longest yt video is: Mike's lime monologue focusing on quicklime and NHL. Just saying, you can do lime mortoring in the winter with hot lime and cement will cause damp. 😊
That beam you should raise it more and put a Cinder block under it with a steel thin plate then cover the cinder block with little brick to cover the brick and you could drill a hole and slide rebar in the wood then morter it with the bar throw the wood
What I'm curious about is whether there was an original bread oven elsewhere on the property. Was this a rebuild in around 1824? I wonder what caused the residents to have to build it then. Then again, I suspect many elements of the different buildings were of recycled materials. Farmers are historically famous for reusing things. The lentils of some of the cottages appear to be from different buildings elsehwere.
I stumbled unto your channel and I am hooked. One day please show us what you did in your cottage. In the mean time I am following your progress with great interest. You are living my dream. Kind regards from Cape Town, South Africa.
Bonjour Pieter! So sorry for the delay in responding.. we have some super sad family things going on😢, really looking forward to updating more regularly though, especially on the things you requested 🥳

Was wondering if the chap you bought the village from has any old photos of how it once looked in its heyday. Regardless, what you’re going to do for this place will be stunning with your passion. Really excited to watch this stunning place awaken from its long neglected slumber 😊
We’ve really struggled to get any photos of the village in its previous years but we never give up searching.. currently following a lead as we speak.. new update available now 👍🏼
Hey Philip 👋, yes Season 2 of Help We Bought a Village started on the Oct 16, weekdays at 5pm on Channel 4 (UK TV), thanks for the plug Phil. 👍🏼 Yip + Paul

@@yipnpaulshelpweboughtavillage I'm watching all your videos, and I love the progress you two are making. I love stonework and timber. The combination is simply beautiful. The building that you converted so your guests can shower to me is beautiful. Paul said he wasn't a plumber, but I think he will be certified after a few renovations on your quaint village!
@@davidrickards Bonjour 👋..exactly that David, the combination of the stonework and timber is incredible. Paul says he’ll probably be certified nutcase before certified plumber 😂🤣 We’re pleased with progress but the roofs are our Achilles heal at the moment, all the time the weather is allowed to get in the buildings are in danger of collapse, Please spread the word that we have accommodation available via Airbnb and 2 donation pages also (links below), with your help we could get the word out there David.. ‘ alone I can’t..together we can’ 🥰 linktr.ee/yipandpaulsvillagelinks?ltsid=8fe7a648-54ff-4fdc-b7a7-cd1e8dbe3b1a 🙏🏼🥳😬🥰 Y + P
@@yipnpaulshelpweboughtavillage I asked Dan from Escape to rural France to mention your channel. He has a lot of subscribers that would love your channel I'm sure. I see Paul has a sense of humor.
@@yipnpaulshelpweboughtavillage hello boys nice idea. Have you though about taking a metal detector around your land to see what you can find in your off days? You could do tours of the other cottages and the history of le busliere plus include talks on all the works you done. Include a local produce package for the guests and such. X
@@marcuspassey That would be amazing, please feel free to send us a detector in the post 🤣😂. We love that you think we have ‘off days’, you’re funny. 🤣🥰 The tour package is defo food for thought, fans of the show we’re turning up in droves last year, we spent about 7 hours in one week showing people around. 🤯🤯
@@yipnpaulshelpweboughtavillage ha ha yes on second thoughts maybe no down time. Me and the wife will hopefully book to come when we get baby sitters. We will make it one day. X
