Breaded Southern Fried Pork Chops Recipe
How to make Southern Fried Breaded Pork Chops and Gravy just like Grandma made. This is a complete tutorial on how to cook breaded pork chops. I will give you all the tips and secrets for making your pork chops tender and tell you how to keep the breading from falling off in the pan.
I also cover how to safely handle raw meat in the kitchen to keep you and your family safe. So even if you have never cooked before there is enough information in this video to have you cooking Grandma’s pork chops.
If you’re a seasoned cook you might pick up a new trick or two.
Whole pork loin can be sliced into pork chops for an economical way to feed even the largest family. When my kids were still home, I would have the butcher slice my pork loin ¼ inch thick. I would get 50 or more boneless pork chops for $10. My kids thought we were rich because they got 2 each. Those are wonderful memories.
The breading makes them more filling as does the gravy, but more than that the taste is what dreams are made of.
No matter how tight your budget is you can enjoy this wonderful old recipe and make some memories with your family.
Remember to put God first! :)

Everytime I want to spend time with/visit a friend, I sit and watch you cook up supper. All my friendships have been in the workplace. Since retirement, friendships and having a friend's company greatly reduced. The quarantines made it worse. Even though restrictions lightened up, I had a stroke in June, and don't drive/have access to transportation to go visit family or friends. Hi Linda, Have you ever tried frying your pork chops and fry them pretty good. Then add lots of cream of mushroom soup and stir....grease and all. Keep stirring until the cream of mushroom soup turns a nice brown gravy color. OMG delicious and the cr. mushroom soup adds moisture to the chops so never dry. Can cover chops when frying too. The key is to have the fat of the chops nice and browned. That flavor is your gravy.

Promise....you'll love it. The key is to fry the chops real good so the fat seems cooked and browned a bit. Any burn on the bottom of the fry pan will pull up and flavor the cr. mushroom soup. Amen! My mother cooked a full homecooked meal EVERY night of the week! Saturdays were when we ate outside in good weather. Her meals consisted of a Meat, a starch usually real masked potatoes, a green veggie , some kind of salad and Dessert!! She would cut up fresh or canned fruit, place on top of a small bed of lettuce, mayo on top to taste (Hellmans is my Favorite) optional is shredded cheese or Feta. Sometimes she would even have homemade yeast rolls on a weekday but definitely for Sunday Dinner after church! That "after church" hunger is intense. I always knew Mama had something delicious already prepared and waiting for us. There was only 2 sit down restaurants in my small town so Sunday Dinner was the REAL DEAL...no KFC, Burger King, Taco Bell, etc.... I miss putting my feet under my Mama's kitchen table. I do hope Heaven includes good food!! LOL

Good job on the video. If people are worried about the meat not being well cooked in thick chops, I was taught to put some water in the skillet and boil them for about 20 minutes with a lid on the pan. Then I do the milk soak, bread and fry. I like to use flour alone or sometimes add a bit of cornmeal for the breading. The gravy is tricky, and only by experience will you get a feel for getting the thickness and flavor you want. I like it on the thin side, and pretty white, not too dark and greasy. Thanks for all the work you do! PS: Having been taught not to waste anything, I find the buttermilk soak is good to use to make cornbread. I'm betting you can make the real thing not the stuff that tastes like a bad blueberry muffin that most restaurants serve.

As a non meat eater 99% of the time I still watch meat cooking recipes because a person can still glean some good ideas. In your video today you gave me the idea for "breading." Next time I bread a vegetable (maybe eggplant) I will apply the same technique of breading ----allowing them to sit for 20 minutes before frying. Funny, in all the years of cooking no one has ever talked about the cold side of the frying pan. I always said to myself, "they can send a man to the moon but they can't figure out how to keep a pan from having hot and cold spots." For instance why don't they make the stove burners larger to accommodate the size of the pans??? Idk.

Instead of a cutting board, I use a thin plastic cutting board. I run them through the dishwasher. I use a separate one for each prep so I never have to worry about cross contamination. Saves so much cleaning.

Great video, Becky! Thanks for talking about keeping things safe and sanitary in the kitchen. I throw out more sponges than you can imagine and never thought about putting them in the dishwasher to sanitize them! I just put my dishes in to wash and included my sponge and scrub brush, too! Maybe I won't have to replace them so often now. As always, I so appreciate the reminder to put God first. The devil is always trying to squeeze God out of my day! So, every reminder helps. Bless you, dear lady!!

Excellent tutorial on pan frying pork chops. I sometimes coat mine with beaten eggs , then flour. I make milk gravy using the pan drippings, the same way you do. I make this gravy with fried chicken too. So good on mashed potatoes. Guaranteed to have no leftovers! Grew up cooking in cast iron pans. Thanks for the tip using onion powder. ❤️

Hi, my mom made these exact pork chops. With the gravy. She was raised in Wisconsin so I'm not sure about Southern fried pork chops. This is how my whole family cooked so it's nice to know that we are similar in our cooking. I grew up in a real small town in Northern Illinois. There were 500 people in my hometown and I was related to a lot of them! Lol. I didn't think I liked pork chops until my older brother made them and added garlic powder. It was like a whole other food. I'm so glad I found your channel!

The best way I find to check meat like that with a meat thermometer is to pick it up with tongs and stick the thermometer through the side of the meet until the tip of the thermometer reaches the center of the filet.
