Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This RU-vid channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.

It was + 7, not + 12 as reported at the end (34:49); overall, very good back 9 (plus 1) - and the first 9 (plus 6 over par), with 'new' clubs and a lot of wind, that was not easy. I am under the impression that Rick is selling himself a bit too short. Please be more positive and keep being an inspiration for us :-)

So very true like a lot of golfers we are hard on ourselves. What I was surprised with and given the windy conditions he did not try sending low shots into the green. Low chips etc, once in the air the ball is exposed to the strong wind. A 75 on that course in that wind would have been a super round given it’s not a regular course he plays

One of the issues as Rick stated on a pod cast is the actual amount of golf he is playing these days. A world of difference smacking a ball in the simulator to being on a course, and most importantly actually practicing on the weaker aspects of his game. It’s like us amateurs playing once a week watching videos and thinking our game will improve automatically
@jamesthrower3865
@jamesthrower3865 9 месяцев назад
@@guyr7351 you hit the nail on the head. For me that’s where I’m at playing once a week 2 weeks ago I shot an 82 and scored a 9 on the 16 hole. Could’ve broke 80 had I kept my head in the game. Now I think I can go out and score that ever time I play. Played yesterday carded a 99. 😂 I know how Rick feels. He’s trying to break 75 I’m wanting to break 80. Maybe one of these days it’ll happen. I’m rooting for Rick.
@guyr7351
@guyr7351 9 месяцев назад
@@jamesthrower3865 I’m in the middle of a set of lessons, when with the pro ball striking is generally very solid, can even get the driver out and hit it nice and straight. Go on the range and I get 70-80% if drives what would be straight/ in play on the course. Get on The course and the over the top swing ( natural swing) comes back, I can feel myself throwing the arms at the ball. Aaargh Shot 119, 109 in club championship (26 h cap, par is 70) 😂😂😂 have yet to break 90, but at the weekend shot on second club I play at 95 v par 72 , I get 29 shots so 6 shots better than H cap, but had a 9 and a 7, plus 3 x 3 putts, and one double bunker shot. My aim this season was to get to 18 or better which my eclectic card score shows I’m capable of, my best gross would be 74 v par of 72. Just try and take a small win with every round, no 3 putts, is chipping better, out of bunkers in one shot etc. must be the worst game in the world for those with fragile mind sets. I feel for pro’s whose game goes as it can be chasing circles.

I found this quote and I'm trying to take it to heart...as I've aged my handicap has shot up. Perhaps this will help you, Rick. Chin up! "You don't have the game you played last year or last week. You only have today's game. It may be far from your best but that's all you've got. Harden your heart and make the best of it." -Walter Hagen

Rick i have only been playing just shy of 2 yrs, have followed you from the beginning of my golf game & your a bloody inspiration! I am now seeing the things in my own game that you humbly show on your channel & the biggest one for me is being to hard on myself! I play so much better when relaxed & laugh off bad shots draw a line & move onto next hole, Have had 5 lessons with PGA coach & learnt shed loads, love the game , but i think i can safely say ALL golfers go through a crises game & then we come out better the other side! Thanks for your honesty on the course!

Idea for a video " Rick Shiels shoots a 59" basically, you play a round and you rehit every shot you need to, until you shoot a 'scramble' 59. You count how many extra shots you take to see how many over the 59 it took you to achieve the feat.

1 over on the back 9 is absolutely unbelievable in those conditions. Couple of horrid lipouts as well. Well played Ricky!

As you said Rick “funny old game”. That’s why we love it so much. Conditions were tough so don’t slaughter yourself too much.

Learn from Charley Hull. Tee up; get the club; pick your target and hit it. She’s a revelation.

Loved the production on this video, I know it's one you probably didn't want to release...... But it was so funny. Keep the chin up Rock, the golf game will come back. It's the same for us all

Love these videos. Are 10 year old clubs really that old? How about trying with a 50 year old set...now that would be a challenge! This video was more about the challenge of tough wind conditions than club technology.

Great video Rick. To pull out clubs that are 10 yrs old, no experience with them at all, and hit the links like you did here took some courage! Well done and fun to watch. Take some old school clubs to the H.I.T studio and see what they can do?

I love for Rick to play well. But I find this very entertaining regardless. The filming, the editing, Ricks comments, the atmosphere of a fantastic-looking golf course. I am entertained!
