82 year old man with a mortgage on a nostalgic house. Yeah, right. Sounds to me like somebody already did a refinance on their mortgage and pulled money out. They need to sell that house, pay off the debt and buy him something cheaper to live in. He's not willing to help himself. He's just spending like it's going out of style.

For the oil caller. If he can show that it was due to the oil change, his insurance should cover the resulting damage and then surrogate against the oil change company. Or tell the oil change company to report a claim to their insurance. ** I have 25 years in auto liability and general liability claims

As for the guy with the oil issue in his car - she probably was driving quite a while without oil in the car. The car doesn’t just blow up without some ongoing negligence. It isn’t Valvoline’s fault that there wasn’t oil in the car for probably weeks prior to get driving there. Sounds like she wanted someone else to blame it on. 48:00

You might've misunderstood. She was low on oil and she went to Valvoline, they said they put oil in, but then she drove off and her engine messed up. another opinion said that it wasn't filled enough. She went back and they filled it again, but if we're filled in the first place when she went there, what exactly are they filling up? So somebody working at Valvoline didn't fill up the oil. Which is why it's a legal issue which may make them fix the car and do better.

Yep, the story doesn't add up... unless they forgot to put the filter back on and all the oil drained out... like what happened to me after getting an oil change at a cheap oil change shop. Lesson, go to a reputable mechanic, or do it yourself

To Nick, there are a lot of jobs that offer free college tuition through Guild Education. My job offers it to all full-time and part-time employees. I believe Starbucks, Target, and Lowes all offer it as well, and there should be at least one of those in most college cities. Eligibility might be different for some part-time employees, but you would be able to work 20 hours a week while studying and they will pay your tuition and textbooks. Guild Education is the main reason I am able to work through Baby Step 2 and pay off my student debt while still in school.

For the guy asking the question about the networth of the advisors. We're interviewing people right now and we ask them what step they're on. We've ended up with good conversations that way that tells us about their values and skills. One guy was in step 7. A couple told us in broad strokes about their progress in steps 4-6. We even had one guy tell us that he'd never gone through FPU🤦‍♀️ Obviously, he's out of the running🤣

Don't even co-sign for a spouse. 40 years ago, I co-signed for my husband to get a car. A couple of years later, we divorced, and he missed a few payments. 8 years later, when my new husband and I were buying a house, that darned car came up on my credit report. Luckily, because it was so far in the past, it didn't damage our chances to be approved for a good 80% LTV mortgage, but it was embarrassing. Don't co-sign with ANYONE! The chances it will come back to bite you are great.

Most Valvoline locations have cameras on their work bays to protect their butts. If they didn’t put enough oil in the car it will be on video. Not only the first fill up, but the return top off showing they didn’t put enough in to begin with.

1st case - cultures are so different. We don't look at cents. You help your parent if you want to. Not compulsory. Doesn't affect who gets an inheritance and how much.

Not sure exactly what cents you’re referring to are. If you mean the $1000/month two of the siblings were giving over an extended undermined time, it could add up. If dad was in the house another ten years, two of the siblings have put $120,000 into the home/ care of dad. You don’t think it’d be right for them to be reimbursed that money before splitting the rest of the house equity with the third one that never put in a dime?

If you brought the car in, and it was empty… No oil… That’s not Valvoline’s problem. Couldn’t they claim that he hadn’t maintained it properly up to that point? Good on George for making a seven figure net worth, but be real. He & wife have a six figure income which definitely helps. They paid off their house early by putting 6k a month on their mortgage.

But to be able to put 70+k a year to paying off a house early (as calculated from George’s debt free scream) suggests that his household income is over 150k a year. Huge props to the guy & his wife for living the example of how their plan is effective, but him saying he’s a 30-something millionaire & you can be one too following his plan, while not including the context that he’s making six figures a year, is a little disingenuous. Following the Ramsey Solutions plan can eventually get anyone to a seven figure net worth, but it’ll take decades.
