Breakdown: Great White Shark surprises scuba diver

A great white shark snuck up on an unsuspecting diver and the moment was captured on film.
The footage is thought to be from South Africa, but no one has come forward to claim the video or name the diver.
In the video we discuss whether we believe the diver was actually approached by a great white shark. There are a few reasons why we think the video is legit.
The diver is wearing a surface supplied air line that is common with abalone divers and others who will be working underwater for an extended time.
Based on the camera angle, it appears the diver has a floating rig attached to his umbilical cord. Thus the camera is floating when the white shark appears from the depths.
What are your thoughts?

@@cds3703 why do you think the shark thought he wasn’t food? Of course humans are food I think it just wasn’t in feeding mode, it’s as simple as that. @@cassiusdio6048to great whites, humans are rarely food. If it was a tiger or a bull, guy is probably dead, because they view everything as food. This isn't Jaws. You don't live in a horror monster movie. In fact, you have a 90% chance of surviving a great white *attack*. Because like the video said, 99% of bites are exploratory or mistaken identity. Unfortunately, they are giant predators and even their curiousity can be devastating.

Learn to dive with a shark. They will circle you like 5 times, bump their head into you, circle few more times, take a bite, spew you out and run. Sharks are clueless of what you are, a loud blob that blows bubbles sitting upright in their ocean. We are the weirdest thing they have ever seen so obviously some have a different reaction, but if you punch them in the nose when they are going to bump you then they will take the f off If the shark was going for a bite it would have bitten him.

Sharks dont usual eat people, so my guess is it took the small one to see if he was safe to eat. But another thing if you watch it slowly you see the sharks snout hit the head first that makes them naturally open there mouth to see what it was they bumped into

You might notice a small black object (thing) float away from diver (just off his left shoulder) as he watches the shark swim away. Imo, this could be a piece of the divers wetsuit headcover that the shark scratched off with teeth after the bump/taste/knock. Interesting indeed. Unless a land predator has different wiring than a ocean predator and they’re aware you don’t belong so they poke to not get injured. But I don’t believe they don’t want to eat you…plenty of deaths by consumption. And nothing left.

The guy in the film is Ron Elliott, a profession sea urchin diver who's worked out at the Farallon Island for years; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JD1LEIuxKUg.html

The hardest part of diving at night was controlling my own head. This shark is on his way out before the diver even knows he's there. When your visual sphere is 20-30 ft, you trust in God. Seriously. You have no visual evidence that all's clear. Pure faith.
