It looks like Station 6 was siphoning power from the power lines, also it looks like it was in the canals wedged between a railway and either a former or current landfill. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was half the reason why the water was toxic in the area.
I personally think the canals are the coolest area in HL2, second being either Nova Prospekt or Ravenholm. I like the lived-in (or died-in aswell) feel. The canals give of the impression of an escape route that people have frequently travelled through with frantically put-together hiding spots and pit stops.
Really underrated video. Interesting analysis of this station. I really love small rebel hideouts like this in the first few chapters hl2. There's just this strange cozy feeling that they give that i can't really explain.
I know the exact feeling. Instead of pausing my game when I was a kid I would wait until I got to rebel camps and eat food with my game unpaused there.
