Reynir Sterki (W:163 p/74 kg and H:5,7/174 cm) (B:1939-D:1982) was one
of the strongest men in history.
He is known in Iceland as the incredible strongman, his storys of
strength and these video clips are what is left of his story as
perhaps the strongest man ever.

The way the chain is fixed on the bottom side may be the secret: The chain is mounted with one link sideways, this link and the link above it is subjected to a lot of bending forces and leverage. Maybe the fixture is even designed for maximum stress on the chain. As a comparsion: Snapping a pencil in half is easy. Breaking it by pulling straight on its ends is nearly impossible. Anyways, nice show!

+Coiltec Nope that's not it they used a similar device to measure the strength of the chain in the beginning of the video. Men are not a machines you can't explain everything that way. Iceland is also not America, this guy was a lorry driver not a showman.

I guess he is verry strong, but it can be seen from distance that it is using leverage from back-side and knees, and that chain I guess isnt holding actualy 6 tones.

+popra007 The tested the chain in the beginning of the video.

6,100 TONS? I don't think the chain is rated anywhere NEAR that. It does mean 6,100lbs right?

U can heat up steel and make it weaker. There's no other way.

Heating it up doesn't make it weaker

Really doubt it's pounds, seeing as how it wasn't in use here.
