Skyler playing the dumb blonde might be one of my favourite scenes of the whole show. Shes so much more than the naggy nuisance she often gets reduced to.
It’s super important to realize that walt is no longer needed by his family. Up until they owned the car wash, walt could at least say his family needs him, but with skyler operating the car wash independently and pretty much solo parenting, he’s useless now. From a functional standpoint, he’s no longer needed and now has something to prove.
Walt always knew that Jesse was loyal, but his ego is so big that once he realized Jesse could cook without him, he completely forgot about that and only focused on himself, and that’s really apparent in this episode. Also love the detail of the poison foreshadowing for the upcoming episodes, I missed that one on my last rewatch lol
1:48 "Vince likes to think of the show as not existing in any particular season" except in Better Call Saul when there's snow in the episode Nippy, clearly showing its winter time
@@betterwatchtv Ah fate you fickle mistress. Yeah the Omaha scenes from BCS use snow scenes shot in ABQ (which makes me sad since I live in Omaha - not a single shot was shot out here 😭)
Yeah, their budgets weren't big enough for travel like that! Just like Germany and Mexico were ABQ. And I just learned that Lydia's house (in ABQ) was supposed to be in Houston, story-wise!
I’ve been binging these videos and I actually paused one clip where there was a tiny bit of snow on the road. It was one of the scenes at Walt’s bachelor pad
Yep, they didn't have the budget to go far. (I think Four Corners was the furthest they ever went.) Whether it was Mexico, Germany, Houston (which I just learned is where Lydia's house was story-wise), it was all Albuquerque! 😁 There's one funny detail I just found in Salud that kind of gives away that it's not Mexico...
For the emoji ideas I'd like to pitch either a dirt bike, a tarantula, or a jar. I think the Drew Sharp plotline is super underrated as it's the inciting incident that leads to Jesse wanting out of the business.
a video series like this for the sopranos would be something id love to see from you in the future, good stuff man ive been here since mid season 2 breakdown
Awesome, thanks for being here for so long! I’ll think about that! It would be after I do Better Call Saul, so there’s a lot of time for me to consider it!
11:53 talk about a “1v1, final destination, no items, fox only” fight. Also I love the invincibility star joke in the sniper scene, as well as the bullet bill.
Mike says sonnovaBitch like that cause his character is from Philly and the Philadelphia/Delco accent is one of the hardest accents to learn for actors and he learned it pretty well as its really close to how we say (yes i am from the Philly/Delco area Born in Darby PA) it
these videos are stellar, ive been watching through a bunch of them in the last few days. you've got this format nailed down. I will be psyched for when we get to BCS
So, Bug is going at the top of the list. Dark, ominous, and I feel like it really does reflect the lonely position Walt's left himself in by the end of this episode. My favorite part is the actual lack of any variation of the Breaking Bad melody in response to the typical percussion, which itself is slower than usual, and set to the ominous ambience of the track that plays before the credits roll (during Walt and Jesse's fight). Just my favorite ominous credits theme for season 4. Bug Problem Dog Bullet Points Open House Cornered Box Cutter Shotgun Thirty-Eight Snub Hermanos Tune in for Salud!
It is funny how "standards & practices" works at networks. Much more sensitive about sexual things, too. It's the reason why Vince came up with Jesse saying "I need to check you for a sliz" early this season, because he didn't think a more explicit word would be approved!
I always took Walt's timidity when dealing with the Hank vs Gus/Mike situation as being worried they would kill Hank. He knows he has to report on Hank's actions to still be seen as loyal and protect himself, but he worries that he's going to deliver the news that makes them decide to off him.
I have something for S04E12 that I spotted some years ago: at 20:36 you can see a microphone moving out of the frame for a split-second. It's when Skyler and Hank look at a laptop, they cut to the laptop and right as they cut back to Skyler and Hank, you can see a mic at the top edge of the frame. Maybe the microphone guy's arm was falling asleep...
@@betterwatchtv It's really hard to spot though... Apparently this is only on Netflix. I also have that season on DVD, it turns out they cut it there. The mic is visible right after Hank said "Clean as a whistle".
Thanks!! I did take a look at that (because I read about that) but it seemed pretty subtle to me. I wondered if it was due to CGI vs. real, or if something else was going on.
@@betterwatchtv During the fight Walt bleeds from the left side of his head, in the next shot he bleeds from the right side. This is after he tells Jessie about the tracker.
Just wanted to say I enjoy your commentary and humor in these videos. The facts are genuinely interesting and come from observation and not all from a trivia page and the humor is subtle and unique.
2:41 that lady in the right is the same one of the three ladies that helped Walt to clean the equipment in the lab in the episode "Cornered". I like to think that Tyrus didn't send them back to Honduras and they were given another oportunity to keep their jobs!
Holy cow!!! Great find! I wish I would have noticed that! It makes sense since she worked at the laundry in real life, but I'm sure that was unintentional!
wow a full year of members! I have been following this channel for not as long as that, but I am glad to find your videos in my recommendations every week for sure.
It should be one F word per season on the broadcast version, with more on the version we watch. (Like Huell only said “mofo” about Ted in the broadcast version.) But I’ll check out the video…
12:26 😱😱Bruh, i still cant get over that scene after first seeing it 2-3 weeks ago. And the aftermath of that fight between Tony & Ralphie was the strawberry on top.
Love how Carlos Rota, who plays Benicio fuentes in the next episode, is another actor(ahem looking at you Giancarlo Esposito) that is also not mexican, nor spanish at all, but is actually italian. I wonder if his spanish is good to spanish speaking communities, considering Giancarlo was always pointed out for having bad spanish pronunciations, even though he's danish/italian.
Where is the hidden detail where everybody started shooting at Gus and then the Terminator launces an RPG at him and then Neo shoots at him in a helicopter and then Gandalf tells him he will not pass and then
how do you not have millions of subscribers and views? This editing and dedication is definitely worthy for that amount! You will be a very big youtuber soon.
i have no clue why ted, in this episode and future ones, is so judgemental of skylers job. (even if hes being facetious later) she OWNS AND MANAGES a car wash, its not like shes just a simple cashier making minimum wage!
Dude was waiting for your video since yesterday. I am also thinking of getting your channel membership, it's just where I live I have to use VPN service to get become member option available. However, I really enjoy your videos and binge watch them again and again. Seriously cannot wait for better call saul videos cuz BCS is my favorite. Also I noticed a juicy film artifact in the Pilot, it's the scene where walt goes under the scanner at probably 18:10 ( Netflix time ). And yeah I also noticed in the pilot that Hank calls Gomez "Frank" at around 25:58 ( Netflix time ). Another great video bro, looking forward to the rest of the series.
Thanks so much!! A film artifact in the pilot... Wow! I think I see it. The green vertical line in the lower right corner? I'm not finding the "Frank" at all, though!
If you ever get a Super Star DON'T JUSt WALK AND/OR Stand still. ffs that's your chance to run towards the enemy and take them out. The super star gives you enhanced speed and all your enemies die on touch.
I love Jonathan Banks but his obsession with grammatically correct dialog is why he's an actor, NOT a writer. People don't talk like they're composing a business letter, Jonathan. Know who else didn't write grammatically correct dialog: Shakespeare. You gonna go correct HIS work next?
i know i'm really early on this but i found a film artifact in s5 ep2 "madrigal" on the base of the counter in the bottom right at 2:18, as the madrigal employees were leaving the room
Damn, I cannot wait to see how long the more insane episodes become! There's gotta be dozens of intricate details :D Also, if you're looking for a Season 5 specific one, maybe the shot of Jesse with his arms up could look good, from the "YEAH, BITCH! MAGNETS! OH!!"
I kinda forgot about being shown in the end lol, was listening in the background and had to do a double take when I heard " hank " Looking foward to the next couple episodes! They're what I consider to be the final qaudirology of Season 4 and it might just be my favourite part of the entire show! Three things I wanna point out. 1. The one F-word per season is actually a misconception, there's a great video on it which points out that there's way more in just about every season! Weirdly enough though, Vince and the other crew members have stated multiple times they were allowed one per season, so I guess they either misremembered or just snuck more swear's past the censors? I'm not sure why but there is more than one F-word per season. And number 2 maybe I should clarify, my name doesn't come from Hank Schrader but rather the Tyrannosaurus in my profile picture! It's from a documentary called Prehistoric Planet in which the fanbase nicknamed him Hank! 3. For the new emoji, maybe the clock walter used to time the prison executions?
Thanks for becoming a member!! I should have explained better, but “one per season” is for the broadcast version only! The versions we normally watch have more! I’ll mention it in Crawl Space, but one example is Huell saying “mofo” in the broadcast version even though we hear the whole thing! Yeah, I remember that Hank! 🦖 Let me think about the clock. It might not be different enough from 🕣…
If this show was on a network where they could swear you know Jesse would have cursed at Gus’ house 🏠 but they had to save the curse word for the end of the episode
Thanks! Yeah, I think this episode is underrated, both because of the unmemorable "Bug" name, and being sandwiched among Problem Dog, Salud, Crawl Space, ...
@@betterwatchtv definately! Still not as underrated as fly, for me fly was very boring the first time i watched the show. But after a year when i rewatched the whole show it was actually pretty entertaining.
12:38 There's actually a great video by Kaizir about the history of the f-word in Breaking Bad and how the rumour of "one f-word per season" is kinda weird? In Season 4 this WAS the only f-word in the broadcast version, but it was because the other two were redubbed and Jesse's f-bomb was still muted
@@betterwatchtv My pleasure! To be honest, me joining twice was a mistake since I was signed into the wrong email address when I first did it and I'm a grandma when it comes to tech. I had to undo the second membership and I'm so sorry...but please, keep making amazing videos, I will be right there watching and supporting from my main account!
Wow, I changed my name from just my company name to my old gamer tag (which his my real name written differently but anyway) + the shortened company name + new profile pic of my car (because I need to boost my ball size digital kappa). And you actually did use the new name and pic ... this is epic - I could have bet $1000 on the fact, that you would have just used the already created "files" maybe idk or templates unless someone surpasses a special goal like 6 months (2m to go - yeah!) but nope. Full dedication in every video. This is true craftsmanship. Every member FULLY deserved. And now I am wondering why or if there is a way to super comment here to further support you. But I literally never used that function before, so I might just be too dumb to find it.
Thanks so much! The super chat feature only appears on videos that I’m able to monetize, which is very few of them! The Open House and Shotgun videos (randomly) are the only recent ones, so the button only appears on them!
@betterwatchtv oh good to know. Well then it's even more important to support. :) I might just drop one of these awesome emojis randomly in the given comment. See u soon.
